Yeesh, I hope Google's final product is better than that. Apple needs some competition in the watch space.
It’s chunky the way the original Apple Watch was. Also, the crystal doesn’t have enough of a perfectly flat area. I can understand this level of design as a first attempt only if the Apple Watch in its current form after years of refinement didn’t exist.Yeesh, I hope Google's final product is better than that. Thank you for taking the time to reply in such a detailed manner. Its nice to read a logical answer instead of a knee-jerk response.I don’t know what other people feel they’re missing, but I’ve been in the Android side of the forum enough to have heard others say they don’t want to give up their Apple watches and that’s why they don’t make a full commitment to Android phones they like. I can’t answer for them but I can tell you what keeps me with Apple Watch.
I really value my Apple Watch for traffic navigation. I’m starting to become aware, thanks to my kids and the awareness their generation has on such matters, that I may have some sort of sensory processing deficits that never got diagnosed.
And I probably won’t bother getting officially diagnosed because my Apple Watch renders my worst one moot.
I’m fine driving a familiar route, but when accidents or road work cause detours or if I’m navigating a fast paced multi lane monstrosity of a road, my senses can get overwhelmed and navigating by sight or audible turn by turn instructions doesn’t help me all that much. I can amp up to a fair amount of anxiety. It’s really stressful for me to the point I got a bit phobic about driving for awhile. It wasn’t such an issue when I was younger, but in the last 25 years traffic has become horrifically dense and congested and aggressive. Even our rural routes are often clogged with backups!
But when I use my Apple Watch in conjunction with Apple Maps, which is really very good in my region, I get the assistance I need to navigate traffic smoothly. The haptic feedback alerts me to prepare for lane changes and turns. It’s just a better, calming experience for me than navigating with the phone alone. I sometimes even use my Apple Watch for the haptic feedback even on routes I am familiar with, if traffic is bad and the motion of all the cars around me is too overwhelming. It just helps me navigate the lane changes and turns.
I also sometimes have issues on foot, in crowded places like malls. I might start using haptic feedback in malls but I don’t know how granular navigation with an Apple Watch is on foot in places like that. If I’m with friends or family it’s not necessary but by myself it would be nice to have this technology crutch.
Now for other users in general, myself and a lot of other women I’ve talked to find Android watches too big and bulky compared to the smaller Apple Watches. So do some men.
I liked my Fitbit and my Samsung watches but I just find my Apple Watch more reliable and comfortable. I like the modular face that lets me know so much information at a glance. I personally like the rectangular shape and how the information is organized on it vs on a round face.
Those cases totally exist for AW. IMO its a neat novelty, but defeats the purpose of having all the sensors if you're going to just keep it in your pocket all the time. Have to manually unlock it constantly, etc.I'm just waiting on someone to come out with a smart watch that lives on a chain like a pocket watch. Finally I'll be able to put that small pocket in my jeans to use.... /s

The strap looks bad for everyday wear? I should say I agree with that 1000%.The difference is that I only wear a chest strap while working out, for that purpose the Apple Watch is totally fine, but for everyday wear it looks really bad.
I can recommend Garmin's MARQ series, besides looking like a real watch it holds battery for 5-41 days - I ditched my apple watch for this one (I have 4 generations of apple watches in the drawer)If the Apple Watch would ever be like this one (round), I would buy it instantly.
Or a glass and aluminum macaron ?Here. Have a cookie.
No, no, no, this was an Apple engineer leaving one of the lenses from the iPhone 14 camera bump behind in a bar …
The "Pixel Watch," Google's first flagship smartwatch aimed to become a competitor for the Apple Watch, has leaked online after a Google employee who had access to the unreleased watch apparently left it behind at a bar.

The images were shared with Android Central, which stated at the time that it had received the pictures from a source who had found the watch at a restaurant. Thanks to a Reddit thread from a user who claims to have supplied Android Central with the images, however (via The Verge), some more details about how images of the watch made their way online have been shared.
According to Reddit user u/tagtech414, their friend who works at a bar found the watch a few weeks ago and decided to keep hold of it, hoping the owner or Google would come looking for it. Neither the owner nor Google seemingly ever reached out or looked for the watch. The incident will draw stark similarities to when the iPhone 4, the biggest redesign to the iPhone at the time since its launch, was leaked online after an employee forgot it at a bar.

As for the watch itself, the images match with renders shared last year by Jon Prosser. Google is opting for a circular watch design, with a circular dial, a side button, and a hole on the side, likely to be a microphone. The screen size is around 1.5-inches, according to the Reddit user and an additional image shared on Reddit shows the watch with relatively large bezels.

Like the Apple Watch, the Pixel Watch will have a mechanism for changing watch bands, according to the images. An image of a blue silicone-like watch band depicts the Pixel Watch experience being similar to that of the Apple Watch regarding watch bands, letting users easily slide different options in and out.

The Pixel Watch has been rumored to launch for some time and could see an official announcement as soon as next month. Google will be holding Google I/O, its annual developers conference, from May 11 through May 12 where additional details could be shared.

Same. I love the look of round watches. If the Apple Watch would ever be like this one (round), I would buy it instantly.
I don’t really know about that. I doubt that the issues holding WearOS back are that there’s not a Google branded Pixel watch. The Pixel phones don’t actually seem to play a significant role in the Android ecosystem (which is still dominated by Samsung and the big name Chinese brands), and I doubt most people into the Android ecosystem were just waiting for Google to release theirs to get into WearOS smartwatches. Google gets a lot of attention (perhaps an unwarranted level of attention) for its Pixel phones because it’s the company that makes the platform (a similar thing happens with Microsoft and its Surface branded products), but they’re not big players in market share, and the things they do hardware wise rarely ever have knock-on effects for the rest of the Android ecosystem. While neither that hardware design, nor anything Google, is for me, at all, those engulfed in Google’s ecosystem - of which there are way more than are engulfed in Apple’s ecosystem - will likely be pumped to have a Google-first wrist device to add to their arsenal, regardless of hardware aesthetic. They’ll sell enough to make any R&D worth it. And by “enough” I mean “a lot.”
