FWIW, I ordered a rose gold dock and it arrived today.... It really can look totally different under different lighting conditions, even under different types of artificial light! I had the dock shipped to my workplace, and I opened the box in one room... As soon as I saw the dock I said "wow, it is quite pink for sure" and I carried it into the next room to show some other people.. And of course, in the second room, it didn't look pink at all!!

I also just tried another iDevice on the dock as I have the same durability/stability worries as others have mentioned, but I have to say that it seems really stable and regular day-to-day use shouldn't cause any connector damage imo.

My 6+ on the dock and seems very steady

I think they were talking about the lighter pink Razr, yours looks like the magenta one. Here is a pic of the light pink one.
I used to love the look of those Razr clamshell phones and I really wanted a pink one. I remember a metallic salmon pink like this that I wanted. My niece had a pink Razr. It was beautiful to me, but once I got to play around with it I realized I'd moved beyond that type of cell phone.

That's not a bad shade at all. It adds another option which is good for the diversity in the lineup.

I was hoping for a darker, more copper colour personally but this isn't too bad

Why not simply call it "rose" though? It seems to be a more rose-like colour than a rose-gold mixed hue

I think this thread is an interesting psychological exercise. I see many points of view here, representing a wild spectrum of thought regarding men owning a rose gold iPhone. There isn't even agreement on whether it's pink or not, but let's just concede that it's at least a pinkish hue. Given that, there are...

- Those who think a rose gold iPhone is ONLY for girls, and any guy getting one must either be gay or feminine,
- Those who think a rose gold iPhone is fine for guys, but it just isn't their thang,
- Those who want a rose gold iPhone solely because it is a new color,
- Those who want a rose gold iPhone because they just really like the color, regardless of its perception,
- Those who regret ordering a rose gold iPhone because they think Apple misrepresented the color,
- Those guys who ordered the rose gold iPhone but are having second thoughts after being bullied about it here,
- Those guys who ordered the rose gold iPhone and are completely secure in their decision,

And of course, there are always...

- Those who think THEIR opinion is the only right one and insist on making it known to the great annoyance of others

Personally, I'm a happily married 41 yr old man who ordered the rose gold iPhone partly because it's a new color and partly because I really like the look. And certainly after seeing the pics here (thanks for those, by the way), I'm completely secure in my decision. I've done black, gray, and white so much that a new and different color is welcoming. I personally think the rose gold looks significantly better than the regular gold, and I'll be sporting mine without a case.

Couldn't agree more. Bravo, sir. But you forgot one bullet point: those that like the pink color are of low culture, lowbrow frivolous simpletons, immune to class and art and design.

I have to disagree completely. I saw the rose gold dock in store today, and it was much less pink than I was expecting. The pictures do not accurately portray the true color, that's for sure!

Everyone has been saying the lighting at apple store makes colors look warmer and washed out.

Feel like you gotta accept that the phone is pink lol.

Totally agree with this. The dock I looked at in the Apple store didn't look pink. The photos in this thread are clearly pink.

I could always take a picture of my gold 6+ on the dock?
I see someone else posted a pic but it was looking from the top down so you can't really see the if it's sitting off the stand or flush. If you have time could you post a pick of your own?
I could see that it was slightly reclined, which is good.
Guessing that the white bubble at the base of the lightning connector allows for covered phones.

It's a bit too pink. I actually love pink, but was hoping for a proper rose gold which the phones really aren't. Not to say that they look bad, but they're not the colour which rose gold usually is.

So as a girl, what do you think the color will look like on a guy? Doable or no?

Your question might be very innocent and sincere, but honestly, why would someone ever feel insecure about the choice of a colour? It really shows the social stigma and effect we apply early on by selecting pink for girls and light blue for boys at an early age.

As a guy, if I ever encountered a girl who thought it would be emasculating to use a pink phone, then I would ditch that person faster than a speeding bullet.

Would you react differently if a woman didn't think you could pull off "space grey" or "silver"?
