I can’t say it’s all that revolutionary on my iPad Pro. Although I was hopeful on my phone it might be more useful.
Honestly, now that I’ve used ProMotion on my iPad Pro, every other iPad feels slow and choppy by comparison. But my XR feels just as fast as the iPad even without ProMotion. I think the effect is probably just more noticeable on larger displays.

The time you will notice 120Hz is not when you first start using it.

It is when you've been using it for awhile and then you pick up a 60Hz device again.

Then you will TOTALLY notice the upgrade.
If you disable 120Hz in Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Limit Frame Rate, and then scroll through email or a web page, you’ll immediately experience the sluggishness of going back to 60fps.

ProMotion is one of those things you take for granted after a while and then miss when you use a device that doesn’t have it. I also agree that it has more of an impact on a larger screen that is rendering more text/images at a given time.

I don’t think it makes a huge difference on a phone. It you saw the YouTube comparisons of an older iPhone and the new one side by side you couldn’t really tell a difference.
Oh people...

Unless this is a troll, this is a huge misunderstanding of the technology.

First, the recording is not capturing at 120 Frames Per Second.
Secondly, 95%(maybe more) of people don't have a monitor capable of displaying the content at 120 hz or more.
Thirdly, the only way to get "YouTube" to play something sort of at 120 FPS is to find a video at 60 FPS, have a monitor outputting at 120 hz and setting your playback speed to 2x. Then you could "tell a difference."

Wait till you get the phone, then scroll real fast...

If you don't see a difference then Pro phones and release days probably aren't your thing.

Just came back from the store after checking out the 13 models, as I am in the market for a Mini. It was immediately noticeable on the Pro models, and such an improved experience that if i knew for sure it would arrive in the mini next year, then I would wait with buying a new model.
Rumours suggest no more Mini next year unfortunately.

I’m coming from 12 Pro to 13 Pro, and I noticed it immediately in the store. Literally as soon as I unlocked it after the transfer completed. I didn’t expect to notice it care at all, but it is very noticeable to me. It is sooo smooth.
Me too !

It’s not as good as the iPad, this update is a disappointment the displays are darker and notch is bigger as it’s taller the width doesn’t matter it looks bigger now
Disable auto brightness and Pro displays are definitely brighter than last years. I think the new notch makes the screen a bit more immersive as the notch doesn’t take up as much room in your peripheral vision.

With mine, between the iPhone 12 Pro and 13 Pro. I really don’t see much of a difference. Perhaps a little bit, but I would never use the word mind blowing, or massive or even night and day. Just a little bit better, but not that much.

Something’s wrong with your eyes lol. I can tell a huge difference, even as I’ve been using an iPad Pro for a couple of years. What a difference it’s making on the phone. Everything is smoother, all the transitions seem faster and it’s easier to read text while scrolling. My eyes are welcoming this addition!

Lol thats what im saying. I remember when 60fps games started coming out and people were saying they could barely tell the different between 30fps to 60fps. I was puzzle by this. The different is massive. It will not be noticeable when u use the 13 for a day. But go back to the 12 and u’ll the sluggish of 60hz

I’ve upgraded from the 12 Pro to the 13 Pro and the difference with Promotion (for me) is night and day. It really does make the 60Hz screens look like a relic of the past, which is unfortunate as I’m receiving the new iPad Mini tomorrow- I had the chance to check it out in store and the 60Hz screen was very noticeable (coming from an iPad Pro).

Probably because it stays at 120 all the time. The 13Pro is variable as needed.
Nope, Samsung also use variable rates. In fact, these are Samsung screens using the same tech so perhaps Apple has designed their own algorithms for the device using 120hz. There’s no option to disable it for example.

You can limit it to 60hz max in the display accessibility, motion settings.

I barely see a difference with the new 120 Hz Promotion refresh rate…
Am I alone?
On a screen this size then the big benefit is less 120hz and more the variable refresh rate dropping down the frames to squeeze out more battery life.
