Just went fishing in the middle of a lake with no Wi-Fi nearby. Only LTE connection. Left my iPhone X A1901 Intel on maps for 30min no lock. So confirmed GPS just never locks.
Which means that it's using Wi-Fi map + accelerometer + cell tower approximation in the city while driving which is pretty impressive since navigation still kind of work. But still no real GPS which makes it useless for walking and other applications requiring precise location.

I have two t-mobile iPhone X. Both had gps issues.

I reset networking settings and toggled Bluetooth and WiFi on and off (not sure threat helped) and waited about 3 minutes. Took a while to get a lock but both get a gps lock instantly and work normally now.

So I tested the Apple Watch workout app again, after thinking beta 2 had fixed my issues because the Nike run club app worked perfectly on Friday (it tracked my map, which is all I’m missing out on). Then today I used the Apple Watch workout app, and no map at all again. I’m so confused what’s causing it but I have reported it in the feedback app!

P.s I’m also using an intel based iPhone X

Resetting network settings didn't work for me so I finally did a full IPSW wipe and restore last night and GPS is working better. The lock still bounces around a bit but I'm getting 6-10 meter accuracy instead of 30+ meters.

Intel iPhone 8 on T-Mobile.

Hmmm. I keep Bluetooth turned off. I turned it Bluetooth on with my first phone and my gps started bouncing around again.

I reset network settings and turned Bluetooth off again, took about 2 min but gps worked perfectly from then on. Maybe Bluetooth related?

I am starting to suspect that iPhone X GPS is a defected one is the real issue here.

The issue for GPS has been there since released, and only with slight improvement with some iOS 11 updates, but still jumps around and less accurate compare to all previous device.

The iOS 12 released most likely forgot to include or removed the "soft" tweak that they have originally have.

GPS Diagnostic shows 65 metres of (in)accuracy on my X for quite some time, before it narrows it down to about 17m. Switched back to 11.4 for that reason and now it is 17, 13 and then 8, finally 6 after 20-30 seconds or so. Huge difference and I am rather surpriced Apple decided to release this beta to the public. Terrible way to start off this new and more polished iOS 12, beta or not.

It wasn't released to the public it was released to developers.

EDIT: Sorry I missed that.

I’ve returned to 11.4 until GPS is working better with this beta.

Public beta or not, Apple only considers someone using a test device only with this.

Can your iPhone connect to GPS Satellites?

My iPhone X GPS works when connected to Carplay, not otherwise. I tried reset network settings but no luck.
When driving without Carplay it seems compass is broken as well as GPS, it even stops updating location after a while.

It doesn’t matter. It is all about the impression you give the public about your new product, when you first show it to them. When you say it is all about improving an old product and then deliver a known flawed product, it doesn’t look good. It won’t hurt Apple in the long run, it just looks silly.
First impressions lasts...

So is this breaking Pokémon Go? I’ve been playing that game a lot this spring/summer, so I’m a bit scared of updating.

It is a Beta, regardless of being public or not. Apple strongly advises against installing on a primary device. You are in the wrong for assuming the second beta of a major software release to work 100% perfectly. If it was working as intended, it would be released to the public.

This worked for me too, T- mobile iPhone X and Waze working fine now.

I think it’s not phone specific but either technology (GSM vs CDMA) or modem ( which is split by same technology) dependent. My CDMA iPhoje has had no GPS issues on beta one or two. Most of those who report issues seem to be on GSM.

It’s certainly true that most people reporting issues seem to be GSM but it’s definitely not everyone with GSM. T-Mob 7+ with no issues in DP1 or DP2. It’s an odd one as I’ve seen others with the same network and hardware report issues.

The GPS is working fine on my X. I have tried Google Maps and Uber and no issues for nearly a month.
