So is this breaking Pokémon Go? I’ve been playing that game a lot this spring/summer, so I’m a bit scared of updating.

Still playable but with bad GPS accuracy. I nearly missed an EX raid the other week having to walk around for ages until it had me located at the gym even though I was stood right at it.

The GPS is working fine on my X. I have tried Google Maps and Uber and no issues for nearly a month.

Do you leave wifi on when using google maps or Apple maps?

What if you turn wifi off and try either maps. Does the gps work properly?

If I leave wifi off my gps is way way off. As soon as I turn on wifi even if I’m not connected to a wifi connection my gps is almost dead on.

My iPhone X GPS works when connected to Carplay, not otherwise. I tried reset network settings but no luck.
When driving without Carplay it seems compass is broken as well as GPS, it even stops updating location after a while.

And I have the opposite problem. GPS is useless in Carplay mode, ok on phone.

I think it’s not phone specific but either technology (GSM vs CDMA) or modem ( which is split by same technology) dependent. My CDMA iPhoje has had no GPS issues on beta one or two. Most of those who report issues seem to be on GSM.

It's not GSM or CDMA, I have seen both phone have issue and some doesn't.

For those who don’t have the gps issue, did you install iOS 12 using the ipsw file and restored from backup or over the air upgrade to iOS 12?

And those who’s gps is working, do you leave wifi on or off?

If I leave wifi on and not connected to any wifi connection my gps is good. But I prefer to leave my wifi off unless I’m using it.

After fresh install. GPS worked for a day. Issue has returned.

Give it a day i done that was fine for that day then went crazy and wouldn't connect

The same thing happened to me. I did a fresh install from IPSW and all was good until the next day when it stopped working.

BUT! I have noticed that after a quick power off/on, I’m able to get a GPS lock-on. Try rebooting and see if that works! It seems that the GPS accuracy is only good for a day or two for me.

I'm pretty sure this issue is affecting everyone with an Intel modem, and that resetting network settings/reinstalling from IPSW/restoring as new does not fix it. I believe it appears to fix it because the phone is able to compensate for the near total lack of GPS by using WiFi geolocation, and after restoring you tend to be at home near GPS, but I don't believe anyone has actually gotten this truly fixed.

I live in the city, and with WiFi assistance the location tracking is remarkably good. When I drive out into the 'burbs or out onto a highway, the difference is stark.

Some people have reported GPS working on airplane mode after reset,

I tried what the other poster suggested and it fixed my GPS. I did a reset network settings. Then went into settings and turned off and on the WiFi and Bluetooth. GPS still works fine even after a restart.

I drive on the highway in Arizona every day, twice a day, nowhere near wi-fi and have a GSM 7+. It works fine.

Edit: I should say that I've never reset it or followed any of the steps above. It worked in DP1 (though that had a different problem, loading map tiles) and it still works in DP2

I have two t-mobile iPhone X. Both had gps issues.

I reset networking settings and toggled Bluetooth and WiFi on and off (not sure threat helped) and waited about 3 minutes. Took a while to get a lock but both get a gps lock instantly and work normally now.

Turn on Bluetooth, both t-mobile iPhone X won’t lock gps. Turn Bluetooth off, Gps works great.

Have you tried turning Bluetooth off?

Doesn’t seem to help.

Mine is way off without wifi on. (.6 miles)

With wifi on but not connected to any wifi network I’m pretty much bang on. Very annoying, wondering if I reinstall using the ipsw file then restore will it fix this issue?

Have tried all suggestions including this one and no go. GPS lock still takes 5 minutes

Okay, so I just tried the randomest thing and it actually worked.
I shift-updated from beta 2 to the beta 2 IPSW and now GPS works with a 6-10m accuracy with WiFi off (where as previously it would show me as being a city away).
Try this - it might actually work!

Edit: it takes 30 seconds to lock, but it works! +-5-8m accuracy when locked, Waze now responds to GPS

So based on this, it might be possible that OTA may be causing the GPS issue. Can anyone else Shift or Control update IPSW using iTunes to see if this will solve this issue? I did IPSW update this via iTunes as well and never OTA.

I agree. However, it could be something else that Apple is aware of. All we can do is submit feedback in the app...

Hi

Had the same GPS issue on public beta:

1- Reset location and privacy
2- HARD reset the iPhone X

now GPS works as it should.

I had the same issue with GPS, I did a network reset, now GPS is working fine, anyone having this issue try just restoring the network settings. Hope it works for everyone else.

Thanks

I did OTA and don’t have a problem.

These GPS issues are with iPhone X only with Intel modems. Not GSM 7+.
