Intel modem

I think, I have also Intel and My GPS is not working.

The modem or at least carrier seems to be a common point here. Verizon X here and GPS working normally on both beta 1 and 2

All those who are are having GPS issues. Are you using a model with Intel or Qualcomm modem? I assume this is an Intel modem issue

Which is why I hate that Apple is going the route of hardware fragmentation.

People who had problems: any luck with beta 2?

Initially I thought so, as I was getting a good initial lock on. Now, I suspect that the reason for that was being connected to Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi triangulation was providing the location. As a test, this morning, I completely turned off Wi-Fi. Sure enough, no lock on. However, after about 5 minutes, Maps figured out where I was.

Does not work at all, even activities with the Applewatch is crippled with or without paired iPhone on activity.

Intel or Qualcomm chip?

Intel modem. iPhone X - T-Mobile.

It seems to take 5-10 minutes of driving for the GPS to lock-in to my location. Until that happens, it'll either show me several streets off or not moving at all.

Resetting location and privacy and resetting network settings did not seem to help.

Just chiming in to say I have an Intel modem and GPS problems with beta 1. Haven’t updated to beta 2 yet.

I have had this two in Beta 1 and 2. Intel Modem, AT&T. It doesn't seem to respect the compass heading, often is off by a few hundred feet, and won't recalculate when you go off course.

So at this point it seems pretty safe to say it is an issue with the Intel chips. Everyone report it in the feedback app :D

Yes. There are times when the it appears the accelerometer kicks in and moves you along the map, but sideways, as the phone refuses to acknowledge the direction of travel. This whole thing is interesting as it really highlights how much goes into determining where you are and your direction and rate of travel. But I could do with less "interesting" and more "directions" at this point!

I haven't had this issue since installing beta 2. Intel, AT&T

Yep, Intel T-Mobile (A1784) and it's fine. I use it every day, twice a day. It worked in B1 too, it just wouldn't load tiles sometimes. But as I floated in and out of the tileless void I was always in the right place and never had an issue acquiring a lock in Apple Maps.

I love it: the "tileless void". Like Tron world!

OK, I'm dating myself, aren't I?

Well, I wasn't going to say anything buuuut... :p

I do seem to have got off light by not being hit by this one but, to be fair, I do have the "iPhone vibrates to white finger causing levels every time you use touchId" so it's 1-1 and everything to play for.

Installed beta 2.

It's even worse than beta 1... Drove from home to work, a 40-minute drive, and it never got a lock on my GPS. With beta 1 it took 5-10 minutes sometimes, but eventually it would always work...

Next test: the drive home tonight :)

So, I`ve downloaded IPSW Beta 1 - restored via iTunes and GPS is WORKING! It`s even better than on iOS 11.4.1. After iTunes restore I`ve updated my iPhone to beta 2 and everything is ok. :)

Did you use your iCloud Backup or set it up as a new phone?

Edit:

I can confirm, that restoring via iTunes completly solves the gps issue.
Did a full restore and set up as a new iPhone, did not restore from iCloud backup.
