10.0.3 didn't help with my GPS issues at all, if anything, it got worse (a 12.8 km run was recorded as 13.7 kms, so 7% off). So I've sent my phone in and hope for a replacement. This is not good, I've used iPhone 4, 5 and 6 for running over the last 6 years and never had so consistently bad gps as with the iPhone 7. I really hope it's just a hardware issue with my phone.

Chiming in here with similar problems: My runs of Strava are suddenly 5% longer (using iSmothRun for the run) than they used to be with my iPhone 6. The gps track isn't really off, but it's so "jagged" that the total length gets much too long.

Also, I can confirm that I have problems with BT connection to my car. Maybe in half the cases or more, my car doesn't find the iPhone 7 on first attempt and gives up and tries to find my wife's phone instead. Never happened with iPhone 6.

I also use ismoothrun and get a jagged run. Its a problem with ismoothrun and the new iphone not really the iphone itself. No other running app produces a jagged line when viewing in Straava. I have notified the developer and changed phones twice.

Mine seemed to be much better last night with 10.1. But.. I had the beta 10.1 and it was bad. This is public release 10.1 (had my iPhone 7's swapped out). But last night was a road run.. 10 miles. May have been off slightly by .1 or .2.. but that's more acceptable. Or maybe it's more accurate? True test will be today on the trail. It had my normal trail run that should be 6.2-6.5 showing up as 7.5+

The final release is the same as beta 5

On ip7 plus. iOS 10.1 Gps ranges from 32 to 16 m accuracy. Latest time my ip6 plus reaches 5m. Anyone on my config with working gps?

Well, it was better when running on the road/bridge last night, but just as bad running on the trail today. About .8-1.0 miles off today. Ridiculous.

So, as a collective how do we move forward? Collectively we not to make Apple aware of the issue and make them accountable in putting the issue right.
Individual people heading into the Apple Store is not going to cut it. From the previous comments devices are just being replaced but this still isn't fixing the issue.
Maybe we need media attention for the issue?

It's not only iSmoothRun. Before I delivered the phone for service, I took a walk in the city with my iPhone 6 in one hand and the iPhone 7 in the other, with iOS 10 and Apple's own Maps on both. The 7 had worse location for more than 90% of the time, often showing my location as being inside houses on the other side of the street when the 6 could pinpoint my location to the right side of the street. It was as if the 6 showed the track of someone walking their dog, while the 7 showed the track of their unleashed dog ;-)

Which running app are you using?

I am very confused. So is our iPhone 7 and 7 plus spoilt or ??

I also have an iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1 with AT&T cellular and the GPS is barely usable when it comes to tracking a run or using it to map a driving destination. It wasn't always this way, in fact, the GPS was just fine and I used it almost once a day for various tasks. Some time about iOS 10.0.2 things took a turn for the worse as I noticed I couldn't get the GPS to lock on to my location while trying to map a drive to a destination. Id hoped that 10.0.3 would be the fix and then later on, 10.1 but nothing much has really changed. Ive read countless stories of people getting replacement phones only to have the same problem again.

That old TomTom gathering dust in the corner has suddenly become an important piece of hardware again. It seems that no one really knows if its a hardware or software issue at this point but it almost seems as if there was some change in the cellular networks (?!) that had something to do with it. All I know is that the GPS in my iPhone 7 only sort of works when im driving in a place that has a lot of geo tagged wifi along my drive. Hoping for some kind of resolution to this fiasco in the near future.

That might still be a hardware problem, e.g. I suspect that bad connections to an antenna might deteriorate further with use. Some claim (at least over at Apple's support forums) that a replacement phone solved all problems, so I'm still hoping this might be just a (large!) bad production lot and not that Apple has chosen an inferior GPS module for their new phone.

Like many of us here, I'm struggling with the uncertainty of whether this is a hardware or iOS issue. Obviously the first reason suggests a phone swap, the second simply waiting for new software.

I was in touch with Apple Support several times yesterday via chat and phone call as I went through the cycle of fully wiping and restoring my phone to see if it would restore proper GPS function. In the end they thought it was a software issue, and encouraged me to report an issue within the Apple Maps application - use the "i" at the top right of the Maps display to file a report - but I also booked a genius bar appointment for the weekend to see if a hardware fault might get diagnosed...

Count me in. When I play Pokémon go my phone has me in the middle of the street while my girlfriends iPhone 6 on same software as me has her on the correct street.

My phone has me like 2 streets over. Incredibly annoying. Never once had an issue with the prev iPhone gps.

Can't tell if hardware or software. Don't want to exchange my phone. Not ready to play that game yet.

Hi, i live in Sweden and I got the exact same problems and I don't know what to think. The GPS in my new iPhone 7 is so off and i can no longer plan Pokemon Go, use the navigator "Navigon" when i drive, or when i run the app "Runkeeper" is showing about the double miles of what i actually been running. My son got my old iPhone 6 and its been updated to IOS10 and when we are walking together the iPhone 6 is flawless. Can i hope that its a software issue and it will soon be resolved or should i try to get a new one (which I really don't want to have to do).

Back from Apple Store with a replacement iPhone 7. New phone worked correctly in the store with factory-fresh settings and also now after restoring my full backup to the device.

same exact issue as me. Im gonna have to replace mine bc I can't stand being 3-4 streets from where its saying I am.

I'm going to leave it a couple of months just to see if they can fix it via software. If they can't, I'll replace it then. I'm not prepared to replace it at the moment just to get another one that behaves the same way.

10.1 fixed it for me.
But now I have battery draining on flight mode. :(

I use run keeper and google maps. So far no issues coming from 6s to 7. The seven is still running the version that came on it, 10.0.1.

Use run keeper 4-5 times a week and Google maps a good bit. Can't complain.

Never mind. Guess copy and paste doesn't work anymore on the iPhone 7. Every time I copy a link from TinyPic or imageshack and paste it here it completely screws it up

I have an iPhone 7+ 256GB- I find GPS accuracy to be nothing short of great, as per my expectations..

Thank you guys, it's good to know that some phones seem to have flawless GPS, this strengthens the case that this is a hardware (probably assembly?) issue!
