Yeah it works really with my ibook (see sig) :)
Ummm, that 20" display pushes less pixels than a 17" lcd. So maybe that it why your performance is so good?

phairphan where did you purshase?

phairphan - where did you purchase your mac mini from?

it's my understanding that dell actually uses the same lcd as the apple 20"

they claim different specs..but not a different pixel count.

The native res of the 2005FPW is 1680x1050, which I believe is the same as the Apple 20".

Dell quote better figures for the response rate and contrast ratio - not sure if thats true in practice, but the price difference is undeniable (especially when Dell have a deal on).

On the flip side, the Apple looks nicer ;)

Fact is, the Mini is being updated...and to be honest, I don't think it's worth the effort to "photoshop" a grab just to show a .08 speed increase and 32Mb of additional VRAM...it's kinda nerdy, to say the least...

And where did u get the "scoop" that the Mini will get additional VRAM? It is not mentioned in the Thinksecret article...Yours (and mine) is just wishful thinking  We might as well hope for a PB G5, I don't think Apple will upgrade the videocard before the intelmini is released

How do you figure?

20" 1680 x 1050 = 1,764,000

17" 1280 x 1024 = 1,310,720

Going back to Phairphan's post that the new mini in his possession has 64MB.

Does the Mini's graphics card currently support the enhanced graphics effects in Tiger, eg, the "ripple" when new Dashboard widgets are used?

No, only the G5's will handle that...sorry

Errr, what you really mean is only the G5s/iMac/eMac/iBook/etc will do it. e.g. every machine OTHER than the Mac Mini has a graphics chip that can do the core image stuff that the dashboard wibble requires!

I have a 1.2 Ghz Ibook SuperDrive I bought 18 months ago. Next buy will be a Mini, but not until it gets the G5 and a SuperDrive, not worth the upgrade yet for me.

The high end mini comes with a Superdrive. Don't hold your breath for a G5 in a mini. I'll expect it to have an Intel processor before that happens, unfortunately.

From the links that I've quoted above, along with Phairphan's personal confirmation...please check them out.

I have attached the original tiffs from Grab. They're in a zip file created on my PC (since I can't seem to zip files on the Mac without extra software).

phairphan, thank you for your scoop. Regarding the zip, you can make it by your Mac with right-click or ctrl-click on a file or folder. Please try.

So are they coming tomorrow or not? We usually have last minute confirmation of the specs from the rumor sites by now.

Guys, I'm just in the process of setting up my parent's brand new Mac mini.

Guess what? The clock speeding, according to "About this Mac", is 1.5Ghz!!!

I just checked, it also has 64mb of video memory!!! :)

Here is a screenshot!

I can't say that I'm not thrilled. This machine has been sitting here since last week as well. Apple has always done me well and I was afraid after I'd ordered the 1.42Ghz machine that they would toss out a new model (prolly to be official tomorrow) and I'd be stuck with the old one. But it appears that they had dried out their old inventory already. Interestingly, the box still has stickers refering to the previous model.

Interesting. I was a bit skeptical of your claims but I saw your earlier post about ordering the Mac mini a few days ago and put 2 and 2 together :)

Let's see what happens tomorrow :D

Just on the zip file thing, put the files into a folder, ctrl-click on the folder and select "make archive of ...." This makes a zip file.

Ordered it from the Apple Store online. Education, if that makes a difference.

Congrats! I'm glad someone else finally got their hands on one of the new machines. I was starting to feel a little odd (well, odder  ) being the only person with one.

Did they get the Superdrive model? Any indication of the rumored dual-layer support or burn speed?

No, I opted out of the Superdrive model since I already have one in my G5 in the event that they ever did need to use one.

There's nothing in this screenshot that proves this is from a Mac mini... also, there is NOTHING on Apple's site about a 1.5 GHz, 64 MB VRAM Mac mini being available.

Explain?

I'm quite sure that Apple will likely refresh their online offerings tomorrow to reflect the product that they are shipping and their current inventory.

I have no reason to come onto an online forum and lie about something as trivial as the contents of my parents' new Mac mini.

hm, wondering if anyone ordered a powerbook a few days ago and got something "different" today? =)

Would this be the first time Apple ever began shipping an upgraded product before announcing it?
