Yes, since the 512MB update and luck of the draw before that.

This is great news - tomorrow appears to be the day then! Will new PowerBooks be the icing on the cake as well? Or is APple saving those for next Tuesday? ;)

a'ight, I wanna see new minis when i wake up instead of the ROKR, however I'll probably see it instead of Madonna with her open mouth in a very weird way . . .

It's like she's sitting there, expecting something . . .

Nick work fella! :D Hopefully this should keep the sceptics at bay [although I doubt it veeerry much  ]

As I stated in an earlier post phairphan couldn't be [and isn't] the only individual to have received an updated mini...

Just out of interest where are you in the world? Phairphan is in the states [I believe] and it would be good to know geographically where the new machines are turning up first -- I'm thinking distribution channels at this point as I'd rather not order a 1.4 mini and *hope* that I'd receive the updated 1.5 variant. I'm going to sit it out and wait for the official notification via Apple.com [UK] and the reflective store changes before my order is placed... ;)

I can't say that I'm not thrilled. This machine has been sitting here since last week as well. Apple has always done me well and I was afraid after I'd ordered the 1.42Ghz machine that they would toss out a new model (prolly to be official tomorrow) and I'd be stuck with the old one. But it appears that they had dried out their old inventory already. Interestingly, the box still has stickers refering to the previous model.

That's great news indeed, Sporty...perhaps it's time for me to order a Mini as well..! And the rumor sites have failed again on the exact timing...GO APPLE!

I am in the states. Connecticut, to be more precise. My Mini shipped from Middletown, PA.

Well...it looks like those specs are real now.....apologies to Phairphan.

....hmm Apple store is up still......looks like no update today

What the hell is going on? Still nothing. How can they be shipping new models for a week without saying anything? Something is not right here.

It's certainly not fair for some to get the new mini while others get the older model. That is up with this Steve.

Sorry!!

Back-on topic, now that we've confirmation of two individuals receiving their 1.5 mini's and Appleinsider gleaning yet further info, why oh why isn't Apple updating their site/store??

C'mon Apple!! I remember the anticipation when the iBook went from G3 to G4 -- the plastic waiting to be abused once more!!!! As insignificant as the 1.5 updates appears to be for many, personally speaking, the 64meg video + supposed dual-layer DVD is a huge bonus and is the clincher for my order.

Can't Wait

I recently found out that my company, through merging with another company, has a discount through Apple.. I was already looking to replace my mega crappy 3 year old Windows machine with a Mac, but this was icing on the cake.. I was all set to order a BTO Mac Mini when some of my co-workers told me to wait based on the current rumor...

So here I stand, money in hand, ready to buy a loaded Mac Mini and introduce our family into Mac land... (Used to be a Sun administrator and have been dabbling in linux variants for years, but can no longer stand Micro$oft and am ready to support Apple). After buying an iPod awhile back, I am hooked on Apple and cannot wait to get my first Mac...

So, I am impatiently waiting for the official announcement.. I will be able to purchase the top of the line Mac mini for about $640 (including shipping, not including taxes)... Definitely thinking about getting the airport express wifi, 1gig of ram, and bluetooth keyboard and mouse..

C'mon Apple!

So, with the confirmation of 1.5 minis being shipped, is it a bad idea to order before the announcment? I've got to have a machine by Friday. I'm using a borrowed dual 500 ghz g4 that has to be returned this week. Thoughts?

Add me to the list that is waiting to buy as soon as the announcement is made. Hopefully they will do it soon...I'm definitely not doing anything until I see the update at the online store.

Mac Mini update in september according to Apple

Apple confirms september update here

Mac mini
Mac mini * Jan 2005 10.3.7 10.4 7T21, 8A428
Mac mini (late 2005) * Sept 2005 10.4.2 - 8D40

Hmm..

Hmm.. Called Apple and spoke to a sales rep about purchasing a Mac Mini. When I asked him whether or not he knew if I was going to be shipped a 1.42ghz mini, or a 1.5ghz mini, he got kinda funny and told me that he could only refer to the specs that were listed on the applestore website. He also mentioned that I would have 15 days to return it if I did not like it....

He did mention that there was no current backorder on the mini, and I thought that might be interesting. Doesn't Apple typically have backorders on Macs when they are about to update a particular product line in order to ensure all the old stock has been shipped?

So I will wait for the official message and the applestore to be updated...

Nice... :) Guess this is something considering that page was just updated :)

I'm torn here. I'm not a mac owner and never have been, but I've watched the mini with greedy eyes for quite some time. The lack of a core image gpu really, really irks me. I hate Windows with a passion and Linux is an experiment in frustration that my wife hates with a passion every time I install it. That leaves Mac os. I'm currently finishing up a new pc build, nforce4 ultra with 7800gt oc..I've thought of selling it off to purchase a mini but cant get my head around the years old gpu shipping with it. Total frustration.
