It looks like tayball89 has confirmed what was assumed....it is metal but a very cheap and fragile metal.

As I said, I like the case and will keep it as I think it looks great. I just won't be opening and closing it frequently. I don't see a reason to take it off anyway.

I believe tayball89's post showed that the joint is weak. Makes sense since the only thing holding the two metal pieces together is a pin thinner than a toothpick.

I'm with you on the second point though. I'm going to be careful about closing and opening the case. Also do not see a reason to take it off since it sits nicely on the phone.

And saved me from buying one!

That's unfortunate that people are so quick to avoid the case...I don't think there is a perfect case out there, at least I haven't found one. I own 6 different cases now, and I think this one is my favorite despite the issues. Heck my other 5 cases have issues as well haha.

i'm just going to baby the crap out of my case... and maybe i'll get over some of the defects.

it's truly a pity because this is the most beautiful case i've ever had or seen.

Damn with so many negative reviews here I'm starting to feel worried about my case.
I will be honest, at first I was disappointed because I had hard time fitting it on my 4S and could not open the latch after I was finally able to close it. After 24 hrs it finally start to work much better and now it does not bug me anymore.
I did get the infamous scratch at the latch area and I wonder if the case will hold up down the road.
While the latch is metal it feels very weak and "plastic" like, so I understand the concern of some folks here.
That said the case looks good and I believe offers good protection but I wonder if the materials chosen by Graft are indeed of great quality.

Great case

OK guys, it's going crazy here...;)
I got my case yesterday, put piece of tape under closing mechanism, carefully aligned it and locked.
Since then, I don't open and close it 50 times in day just to play with it and to see how to brake it. The case should be carefully aligned before closing.
Stop playing and enjoy it. I do enjoy mine.

Lovin it

What do you mean by tape? To the left of the power button?

EDIT: Nvm, just cancelled my order.

wow, and the woes continue. I've been keeping tabs on this thread and it seems like Graft's in for a lot of returns.

Why do we buy cases? To protect/preserve/enhance?

What happens when you buy a Graft case? It leaves a faint mark/scratch on the metal and the paint chips on it.

How much is a Graft case? $ 60.00

- So you mean to tell me you paid $ 60.00 to damage your iphone? Don't kid yourselves people- return them till they actually perform the function they're built for. People saying they're happy with their case - really?

Bro when I read posts like that I just think to myself.

After a few days it seems my PS films adhered back down flawlessly to 100%, so that's another testament to how awesome the PS films are. Every time I look at my phone with the shiny spot on top, I am just disappointed. The phone is literally flawless in ever other way.

I've got that damn line on top too. I'm very disappointed as there's really nothing that can be done at this point, except possibly Graft buying everyone with the issue a new phone... and that mark appeared after I put it on ONCE.

I feel regret and I haven't even received the case yet!

UK here, paid £62.63 just for the case and shipping, and today receive a letter from Parcel Force asking for a further £23.50 for Import VAT and Clearance.

Contemplating not opening mine and maybe try to sell it for £80.

Anyone in UK interested? Not going to get it cheaper and quicker anywhere else in the UK. I don't have it in hand yet as I haven't paid the customs fee.

White/matte version

So I got an email back from Graft about my case that came with the blue stain and the chip in the paint. They offered an exchange for a black one as they said they are still working on fixing the discoloration/yellowing issue people are seeing with the white case. But here is the thing in regards to the chipping/peeling paint...they said that while it definitely should not have come to me like that, they do expect that with time there will be chipping/peeling of the paint that they expect to occur! What!!! For 60$ I definitely do not expect any of the finish to be wearing off!!! While I really do love the way this case looks and feels on the phone, I really do think I am going to have to return this for a refund if that is what they expect regarding the finish of their cases.

2 questions guys. Should a single layer of scotch tape prevent the case from making the small cuff on the top? And does anyone know what kind of backplates are compatible with it? Thanks.

Finally got mine and my reaction is "meh" -- seems of no higher quality in look, feel, function, or protection than the Apple bumper. The latch is a design element that feels flimsy and looks it. And the case with the back plate is a pain to get on.

I'm returning it.

Got two cases yesterday.
Fit seems very good, and having no issues with the clasp, must have used it a dozen times as i couldn't decide if i want to use the provided back plate.

Also using the iVisor front screen protector. Everything is working well.

Having no issues. Was using the Desmay case for a week, and i do miss the rawish look and feel. But this case seems to offer protection against drops.

I'm very pleased with it.

.........The fit and finish is not in person what it looks like on their website. The latch doesn't "snap" into place easily. There is a "2-part" process to the snap. There is a a little pin running through a channel at the top corner of the phone that snaps into a groove. Then there is a hole at the end of the case where the latch snaps at the bottom. The latch has a dimple that is supposed to seat in that hole. Mine did not line up and so the latch doesn't sit flush. After some serious elbow grease and contorting the case I finally got the dimple and hole to line up and sit more flush. I will probably never take the case of for fear of trying to get it to line up flush again.

My other criticism is the latch itself. The pin at the top corner runs through a plastic channel that I see breaking with enough off and ons of the case. Again, I'll keep on so I don't run the risk of that pin breaking out. In addition, the latch isn't parallel to the phone as it seems to be torqued a bit at an angle. Not a big deal but I'd prefer a clean line that is parallel to the phone..........
**my initial quote above and pics is post #590**

Just wanted to follow-up a bit more on my post/review. I decided to investigate a bit further why my latch looked so torqued to the side and was having issues snapping into place (the dimple and hole) as well not sitting perfectly flush.

Well, I was looking over the case just now and discovered that the pin at the inside corner of the latch that snaps into the channel has slid out of the barrel it slides through. If you look close enough the pin goes through a small hole in the side of the latch then through a small barrel that guides it to the hole on the other side of the latch. My pin slid out of one of the outside holes so it was no longer flush inside the latch. The result? One side of the pin snaps perfectly and the other is slightly raised making it difficult to line up the dimple and hole at the end of the latch and also keeps it from being perfectly flush. That result is what created the torqued look.

Now? It latches very easily and snaps perfectly into place.

As I have said before, I really like the case and it looks fantastic on. However, the cheap/fragile feel to it is the only thing I really had a criticism of. With that said, I would gladly pay in the $30-40 range for this case as that seems to be on par with case prices that are more than just a bumper or cover. If I saw it on the shelf and knowing what I know now, I would still pick it over all others.
