looks like they're putting it all on hold till they figure out the problem. my recommendation is to offer criticisms directly to them now that they're beginning this stage

It's just unfortunate that my phone is already damaged and nothing can be done about it. Should have got Applecare+.

I don't think that would make any difference since a scratch would be consider by Apple a wear and tear (cosmetic) issue inflicted by the owner and not a product flaw.

This warranty does not apply: (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports; (c) to damage caused by use with another product; (d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause;

I will give you this, this company has remarkable customer service. And they seem to be owning up to the issue and trying to fix the problem. Sign of a maturing company.

I know this is spinning off subject slightly, but I believe the "new" AppleCare includes 2 instances of accidental damage...?

Yes it does but I doubt a scratch on the bezel would qualify. I think it's intended for water damage and broken glass.

Can I ask when you sent the email to them?

I've been waiting two days for a response to my broken case. Just wondering if they haven't gotten to it yet, or if they are avoiding it. Did you email their support address?

You have the white with matte version and you're loving it? You have no yellowing or chipping of the paint on the corners? I have had mine for 2 days now also and it's almost chipping all the way completely around the front and back edges. They couldn't have made this case less durable if they tried.

I have the white/matte. No chipping on mine yet but minor discoloration this far. I may change for black if they offer up that option as part of their solution.

Does anyone else think the company should offer some form of compensation other than a straight return since by design the case damages the phone?

I checked my case thoroughly after u mentioned it and i do see tiny chip aways in paint around the corners!!! Totally unacceptable after 2 days of little use. I also see discoloration when color of case is compared to the backplate. they had the same white tone on the first day! This fell so short of my high expectations!

I am emailing them now to inquire about returning it!

As I stated earlier....I completely removed any trace at all of the impression made by my case with a TINY bit of Metal polish applied gently with my finger and buffed with a soft cloth.
The "damage" should not be considered permmant....

Edit:....Details pg 22 post #'s 538 & 547....If i can help anyone remove the marks on their phones I will be glad to help....

I got mine today and I am going to keep it. I went ahead and cut up a screen protector and put it over the spots that the latches hit. Even if it does leave a mark (which I doubt it will now that I have a layer in between) it will always have a case on it. So, it will never be seen by anybody but me.

I've had my white/matte for about two days now. Its been constantly in and out of my jeans and pants pockets and honestly it is still perfect! I don't know guys.
Nevertheless, I'm exchanging it for the black matte one.

I'm not a fan of white iPhones but damn that looks hot. I have it on my black and think the black/chrome version is the way to go. Throw in all the issues with the white version and it's a no brainer.

And after reading the last few posts on this thread, i went and looked at my iPhone..... Yep, scratched the top of my iPhone as well. Going to return it.

This is where ignorance is a bliss, if i haven't clicked on this thread, i probably would have never checked up on that part of the phone. But now that i know, imho, its unacceptable. Can't believe the R&D dept didn't pick this up before they released this case to the public.

Going back to my Desmay case.

Probably going to wait and read how reviews are on the Elemental Pro goes and pick that up in a few weeks or month.
