Saw them both (Graphite SS and Black Titanium) in store this morning... tried on with a solo band and ordered Titanium in Black with Cypress Green Solo Band (silicone one).

I had PRE ordered on release day the SS Graphite in 44mm to replace my Space Black SS series 4.... as not seeing the Titanium I didn't want to chance it. Silly me they had just about all watches in all colors and bands available to purchase at store with no wait today.

I can't understand why Apple does NOT stock Titanium as all bought via online order which I did with a Sept 30th delivery date. Now I will just return the SS that is coming on the 25th as I loved the Titanium look and feel. Don't mind a little extra but they get you on $80 AppleCare increase too for a $180 difference from SS. :(

I just have a feeling Stainless Steel with be prone to scratches too easily :(
Typically some stainless Steel does have DLC, specifically the Graphite model so it won't scratch that easily. Nonetheless it will depending on what materials but it won't scratch easily. This is because Graphite model does have the DLC coating, just as the Space Black Titanium.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Series 6 in Space Black Titanium has the DLC? I spoke to Apple support and they sent me this:

On Apple's website it says the Graphite Stainless Steel has the DLC, but there is no mention of it for the Space Black Titanium. Does anyone thing they actually got rid of it? Why would they do that?

Rest assured, there Would be zero reason for Apple to remove the DLC on the black titanium. If the graphite stainless has DLC, there is no way the black titanium would not include it. I didn’t look up the stats, but I’m highly confident it does.

When they launched the Titanium Edition models with the Series 5, Apple press spokespeople confirmed that the Space Black Titanium had a DLC coating even though the Series 5 Technical Specifications also do not show anything about it.

Just got my SS Graphite, not sure if I’m going to keep it.
Here are some comparison pictures. Please help me decide. 🙏🏻

Go with titanium it looks more premium. I feel like graphite will scratch badly overtime. also it’s stainless
steel

Also recommending get natural
titanium instead of black.

Love it.

My aluminum S2 ended up dinged within a couple months and I had to stare at it for months
My aluminum S3 cellular ended up dinged within a couple months and I had to stare at it for months
My SBSS S4 remained mint for the whole year
My SBSS S5 is also still mint after nearly a year.

Since I really do like cellular, the price difference from aluminum to SBSS hasn't been too painful when considered against the subjective value to me of not needing to be as careful and not having to stare at a ding for the rest of the time I had the watch.

YMMV.
I can attest as my first two Apple watches were aluminum and took some wear, but my sssb aw5 held up excellent. But I did have one problem. Within the first two weeks it took a mild scratch across the screen with my wife diamond ring lol. It’s like the only thing that can scratch it and it happened on accident. But I did not have any micro abrasions I had from the aluminum screens on the SS. It’s def worth the extra money. Excited to get my aw6 SS graphite so I don’t have to see the scratch anymore, albeit it’s not really noticeable but I know it’s there.

Yup diamond will scratch anything.

You seem to know nothing about Apple Watches.

You are suggesting the DLC coated Graphite Stainless steel will scratch badly. Do you not understand that DLC is a Diamond Like Coating which is virtually impossible to scratch. I have dropped DLC Steel watches on the floor, scraped them on the edge of a metal door, and not scratched it.

And then as if compounding your ignorance you are suggesting getting natural titanium which is PROVEN to scratch badly over time.
