I've seen this on Samsung TVs. not yet on my X. You can call Apple if the store is too far. You'll get a replacement.

I get a horizontal green line above all my pictures in Tweetbot. I don’t have a green line anywhere else, so I assume this is an app specific problem. Weird that it’s also green though. Anyone else use Tweetbot?

So I was playing with my new phone and all of a sudden, this happened!
It’s a really bright line going down the entire right side of the phone.
Tried turning it off but didn’t fix it!
Has anyone else seen this?
I’m in Australia and will take to an Apple store in the morning.
Major bummer...

I had the same thing on day 2 with my new iPhone X. Same bright green vertical line of pixels down the right side of the screen. See below. Rebooting, Power cycling nor a full wipe/restore helped. Same green line. Seems to be a hardware problem!
Tried to get a same day appt. at local Apple Store Genius but none available for 3 days. I called Apple Support and they were VERY interested in my problem. He immediately called the manager at my Apple Store and I was told that I could bring the phone in immediately without an appt. Seems they are very concerned about this problem as I was instantly greeted by a genius who swapped out my phone with, supposedly, the last remaining version of my iPhone X (256GB Space Gray). They took great care of me and I was out of there within 30 mins - the store was extremely busy too!!! Thanks Apple!

Yeah i dare say Apple will be intrigued in this considering its happened to several devices already so soon (ok i admit its not a rampant issue, but still...)
Those who have the problem on their devices, do you/we all have the same model? Mine is a 256gb SG.

Encountered the green line today while on a FaceTime call. Purchased on Friday at Apple Store. 256gb Silver model. Took it to the Apple store today and they were talking about swapping out the screen. I said no way I will return it and get an 8+...as I was waiting I asked if they had any X’s in stock, the said no, only online customer orders were being filled. As I was processing the return, another Apple rep came by and said we are not letting you leave without a new X and new replacement phone was brought out. I assume they gave me someone’s online order. They also gave me a new Belkin screen protector and a case of my choice for my troubles. Overall came out ok considering but no way was I going to swap out a screen on a 2 day old phone...hopefully this isn’t systemic and the new X has no further issue.

This was the right move by Apple! Shame it took another rep to do this...
I'm really hoping that my new phone doesn't have that same issue, or any issue for that matter!
Lets hope we see less of these issues moving forward, no one should have to witness what we have on their new iphone X's.

It would be cool if this green line on the side was for battery life indicator.
In theory this could work, but not this green and not the brightness it emits.
It's a horrible thing to see when trying to use the phone - i was lucky in that i only had to put up with it for a few hours before Apple replaced it.

Your suggestion, but with a very subtle white perhaps could look cool in future?

Yes, mine was a 256gb Space gray model for ATT...
Thanks,
Scott

OLED's seem more prone to this problem, guy in work's Samsung had similar, seems like if one pixel is defective it can have a chain reaction.

Also, the color is now off/washed out. The contrast is also way off as well.

This doesn't sound good. Especially because it's not an "out of the box" hardware issue, but something that can just miraculously show up.

By the way, I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but all screenshots posted here seem to be phones with black or dark wallpapers....

Agree. I'm probably going to hold off on a purchase because of this, and as a stockholder I'm concerned about the potential impact to the stock value as well.

Me too. Unfortunately the closest Apple store is 2 hours away. I’ll be calling Apple support in a bit.

I've been having a similar issue, but with some differences. First, the line appears on the centre-left side of the screen (see pics). Also, it's intermittent. If I lock the screen it goes away, but it happened three times in the course of three hours yesterday. It has started in different apps and doesn't go away by exiting an app.

Needless to say, I'll be taking my phone in today and won't accept anything beyond a completely new replacement.

I took my picture with a dark background because it shows up better in the picture but it is there on a white background as well. Just not as noticeable.

256gb Silver

might be a software issue, hopefully it is so an update will fix it, on the other hand it looks like a hardware issue like the display driver, we will find out soon enough.

Yes I have the exact same line on mine. I live in Maui with no Apple Store but am traveling to Ca this week and have an appointment at the Apple store. Hopefully they will have a replacement phone in stock because this is an obvious defect

This is a bit concerning that the lines just randomly appear. I wouldn’t be as worried if the lines were there out of the box. I wonder if there is some underlying issue causing this.

No mine is a 64 GB

I spent two hours on the phone with Apple Support and they determined it is hardware. A new one is on its way.
