GriP for iPhone, an alternative to popup notifications.

I hate ssh too but I usually have other ways to do things. Try this..

Open Cydia and install wget which is a command line program that downloads things and mobileterminal which is a terminal app. Open the terminal and type:

wget http://networkpx.googlecode.com/files/hk.kennytm.grip-0.1-11n.deb
su (then type the root password which is alpine if you havent changed it)
dpkg -i

respring the phone and you're done

try this ... go to xsellize.com and amd register there .. then go to cydia add source .."www.xsellize.com/username.password" and your done you will find grip there.. enjoy

i installed grip through cydia and so far so good. my only issue is that i cannot change any of the settings for grip within my settings application, anyone else having this same issue?

whenever I get 2 rapid notifications it puts the ipod touch in safe mode.

It's a known bug of version 1.1, also on iPhone if phone is locked and notification comes in it throws phone into safe mode (explained in thread if you read it)

are you able to see the Grip Menu in Settings app? If not then you need to install PreferanceLoader (it would be shown under expert in cydia packagers)

hey yes i can see the menu under settings but after i make a change, it goes back to default. i cannot get around this.

Yes, the settings showed up just fine and I am able to use them (didn't need PreferenceLoader)

See my post 47. Use link, then I SSHed the deb file in and used MobileTerminal to install.

Also have theme installed (Post 47 also) and selectable, but it has a known bug and crashes into safe mode too often, so I went back to the GRiP default theme.

hmm... this is not what i thought it was. When the phone is locked, screen doesn't light up... doesn't preview my messages... just tells me i gotta push from aim...

GRiP shows up on lockscreen when you touch Home button to light up lockscreen.

No, it's not like the SMS and Push Notifications which places a text box and lights up lockscreen.

the settings finally work after i added the source from ungratefulninja. you can view the push from aim if you press the small triangle which will act like a drop down menu.

DHSB versions 1.1 and 1.2 are buggy...i suggest you to use the standard theme, untill a better DHSB version is out
