So this doesn't work correctly with iRealQuickSMS correct? I'm not exactly sure what "correct" means, but they don't work together, right? I think I'll hold off on downloading this until they find a way to link these 2.

Will GriP ever be available as an easily installable package from Cydia?

It shows up for me. Is that because I already had it installed?

hey thanks for the link, i dont ssh much and have used mobileterminal before, can you please tell me how if you have time, thanks.

No need to SSH any longer as it's all doable from Cydia

Install GriP first (the GriP-Growl choice), restart (not respring) the phone

Then you can add the SMS add on and theme (but the theme has a bug, I would stay with default GriP theme until bug is fixed)

The SMS add-0n is not yet hosted on Cydia

Get it here

Then SSH it in and use Mobile Terminal to load.

Upload the .deb file to iPhone to /var/root/.

Open Mobile Terminal

Type "su" and hit return when you first launch terminal then it will ask for a password
type "alpine" then tap return

type cd ~ ; dpkg -i filename.deb, where you have to replace «filename.deb» with the file name of the uploaded file. Insert filename GriPSMSNotification_1.1.deb

Pay attention to spaces, tilda characters, etc

Here's something new in this version- default expanded option :)

Have you figured out what that looks like yet ?

From Author
Anyway, 0.1-11q is mainly an issue-fixing release, that include:
Issue 223. You can configure some GriP messages to wake the device up.
Issue 176. An new option so that GriP message can be expanded by default.
Issue 209. You've Got Mail will show the user name of the mail owner, instead of the address.
Issue 168. All apps can be selected shown in Game Mode. The UI is improved too :)
Issue 172. Multiple push notifications from the same app will be coalesced.
Suspension behavior can be updated properly.

I always expand mine as soon as I get one, so this is very helpful for me, saves a click :) I also really like that it'll wake the device up now and that it shows the name instead of the email addy. You can see an example of that in my screen shot too. Here's a screenshot: (before, you would've clicked it at the bottom and then it would've expanded)
