GriP for iPhone, an alternative to popup notifications.

Hehehehe hopefully you found it in the right version! :) I don't know what that Gripgrip is, do you? It says it's an expansion package or something, but I wasn't sure of what. If anyone downloads it, please let us know what it does!

Starting from this version, Memory Watcher will not be included in GriP. Instead, it will be moved to a new package, "GriP Really Impressive Pack" (GriPGRIP). The distinction is that, GriP shall only contains the most needed extensions, i.e.
Mail
Push notification
SMS (by xshad0w, not included in 0.1-11q yet),
the 2 themes, Default and Double Height Status Bar (also by xshad0w, also not included yet), and 3 modal table themes, Default, HUD and Translucent Black (I may remove the last one too). On the other hand, GriPGRIP is a collection of all other stuff that will utilize GriP, like calendar events, remote Growl notifications, themes, etc. (The distinction is because GriP is growing to 1 MiB pretty soon. I want to keep the size down.)
 
also the fact IM messages now all appear in the same box, instead of multiple boxes, is awesome
 
I've just installed this on my 3GS running 3.0 and can't get any GRIP notifications at all. PUsh or mail. The preview message in settings shows up but nothing else will..

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
 
Hey guys how do I make Grip stay up longer on my screen, I have only had it installed for 2 days and today now when I get a notification it only stays up for about 3 sec. Did I change something? The only thing I messed with was making it wider.

It stays up when I get an email, but not with Beejive, Any suggestions?

Go to Settings>Grip>Per-App Settings
Then choose the type of notification you want to change. For example for Beejive you would choose "Grip Push Notifications". Then set the Sticky settings to Always.

It should then stay up until you dismiss it.

You can change the length of time a notification appears under the different "priority settings". This is what my normal setting looks like. It is set for four seconds.

i installed grip by the .deb, and after some unsuccessful try, i installed it by cydia.

Either way it dont seem to work at all for me.

Everything seem ok in the setting tab, i have the grip setting, i can configure it, i can even test it with the preview button.

But when i receive a new email, when i am on the springboard or on lockscreen, i dont have any notification at all.
i also have deactivated any theme in winterboard (i had the weather elements v3 lockscreen).

Is their any uncompatibility with status notifier, or with the french version of os3.01 ?

I have it working with a Lockscreen theme, app settings theme, Status Notifier, etc.

I have always had great luck with this.

Did your reboot the phone (not respring) after installing ?

A reboot is usually necessary.
 
Guys,

I installed Grip through cydia and everything went fine. But, my iphone is getting Hot and i know that was the only change i made. So, i uninstalled Grip to test and now my Iphone it does not get hot anymore. Did anyone of you guys face a similar issue? What am i doing wrong?

Nope I haven't had any heating issues at all. Is it really hot? I would install it and then reboot the phone. Make sure you are installing the latest version.

I registered on the site and tried to add the link (www.xsellize.com/username.password) changing the username to mine placing a period and then my password. Every time i try to add it it just says invalid link. Can someone else tell me another deposit to use or get this way to work?

Yes it was really hot. I did reboot iphone but, still no luck. This is the version i found through cydia (0.1-11q) and i added this source (http://cydia.ipitg.net)

Let me know if i am using the wrong version or if i should go through another source.
