I would just take it up with Apple's outstanding customer service. Seriously, it's not that big of a deal. They will take care of you if you're not a jerk and just let them know the situation. I had an iPad replaced with zero questions because it had a small screen issue. Took about 10 minutes and they were happy to do it.

This is nothing to write home about. I have several things replaced without question from varieties of company and stores. I have replaced a died TV replaced within 2 months of ownership (from Costco), i have return and rebrought few shirts within few days of purchases.

It isn’t just Apple providing outstanding customer services. And proving outstanding customer services does not give Apple pass for any quality issues, Apple still need to hold accoutantable for their ever going down quality control.

P.S. I finally purchased the 12.9 third generation iPad Pro. Although i do not have problem with iPad, i do have few issue with my iPhone 8 Plus. I have to force restart it few times last month. (I go between iPhone and my Huawei P20 and Mate 20. Planning to get the P30 Pro once it made into Canada).

Or maybe it will just never be an issue and never will lodge int he wrong spot.

Right. You can always hope.
Thing is, I’d rather have confidence, rather that hope, that my $2000 laptop wont break for some ridiculous reason has never been a problem in the history of keyboards until Jony Ive decided to risk reliability for a millimeter of thickness that no one cares about.

Looks like the issue that's affecting a lot of iPad models - given that I wonder if this is a touch firmware issue/ bug?

Agreed. Especially now that Apple is more popular and the online community is more active. We never got articles for the numerous issues in Steve Jobs’s life. Now, bugs are revenue builders for MR, 9to5Mac, etc.
Well that's straight up BS. Either A) you weren't using Macs/Apple products back then or B) you didn't use the internet. Apple copped heaps of crap in those days when they stuffed up, just like they do now. Now, they just face plant on things that never used to be a problem.

Occasionally I’ve had to restart my iPP to get it going properly. I sometimes forget it’s actually a computer and occasionally just needs to be restarted.

Come on now. Timmy's doing an incredible job, the apologists keep telling me so!

Latest iOS version update 12.2 fixed my 11” pro! What a relief!!! Was about to throw the thing against...well you get it. Am also using Zagg screen protector.

It also appears that the problem isn't solved with replacements, so...
Is that like "better the devil you know"?:p
True, there's no 100% guarantee a replacement will fix the issue. There's also no 100% guarantee it won't fix it either since not every iPad is experiencing issues. You could end up with one that doesn't have the problems. But there is a 100% guarantee if you do nothing, you'll have an iPad that has the issue. Eh, if it doesn't bother you enough to get it replaced I guess it more an intermittent annoyance.

A) I have used Apple Products back then and had more issue then vs now
B) These forums could barely get 2 pages worth of posts back in the 2000s and 75% of bugs did not get blown up all over the internet or even mentioned for that matter

Thought I was the only one, already brought the iPad to Apple and got mine switched out for free. I’m still having occasional issues with my new one, was wondering if it was due to possible minor bending, though I’ve always had my iPad in a case and updated. Tried using the iPad and updating to Beta software, but no fixing it that way. Very disappointing this issue keeps persisting

I have the same problem. Its prominent when i use Youtube app. The right side of the screen goes unresponsive. And the sheet wouldn't come down.

What, like exploding batteries that force air travel authorities to ban them globally? Your standards are not equally applied.

Yeah, that's why I said, "slight flaw". Obviously I meant the exploding batteries

Man, words is read hard innit.

Same issue, iPad pro 12.9 2016.
I noticed that the pencil will still work when this happens.

Apple are suggesting this is hardware even if all the tests came out green and there is no physical damage. They are proposing a replacement for 750$ or a 350$ credit.

Unless you have evidence or the exact number impacted or at least SOME data, these threads just perpetuate the nonsense people echo on this forum.

"Quality has declined."
"Yet more issues."
"Apple shipping flawd products."
"Hardware issue."
"Where is quality control?"

A couple of threads doesn't speak for the 45M iPads Apple shipped last year alone.
Or in other words ...

Let them eat cake!

This literally JUST started happening for me last night immediately after I updated to 12.2. So I’m guessing a 12.2 bug. All of a sudden it started feeling like an old windows PC chugging under heavy load. Constant freezing and frame dropping for 3-4 seconds at a time.

Ha. Windows doesnt really do that, bro.

I have problem with unresponsive touch screen on two iPad pros 12.9 2017. I had to sell the old one because Apple refused to exchange or repair it (it was under warranty). They even refused to look at the video I made to show the issue and of course they said they have never heard about it. So I bought exactly the same new one. It was fine for a month. Then the same issue appeared.

UPDATE
At the end of June I sent my iPad to Apple for repair. They returned it without being able to find anything wrong. I experienced the issue again on the FIRST DAY it was returned to me while setting it up (as new, not from a backup) after wiping it for it’s trip to Apple. But since that day almost 2 months ago I haven’t experienced the issue at all. In the letter included with the return box, Apple said that it is possible that the problem was resolved by updates they installed or tests they performed. This may be a standard phrase copy/pasted into my letter since its unclear what updates could have been installed given that the iPad was completely up-to-date when I sent it to for repair. As to the tests they performed, perhaps they were suggesting that the testing equipment they use could have resolved the issue before the technician began trying to reproduce the ‘touch’ behaviour? However, its the nature of the issue that it is not ALWAYS reproducible on-demand AND that it can take days/weeks for it to occur once it has ’stopped’ after a restart. It’s unlikely that Apple would have observed the behaviour during the few hours they spent with the device (they received it on a Tuesday and shipped it back the same day). I will report back here if the problem reappears.

--------Original Post Below--------

Details in this article are similar to two issues I have with my iPad Pro 11" (2018):
- Screen Flickering and Artifacts
- Touch Response

Since I purchased it during release week in November 2018, I've experienced issues of the 'Touch Response' type.

A day after installing the iOS 12.2 update (26th March), I experienced 'Screen Flickering and Artifacts' for the first time. I noticed it first in Solebon Solitaire, then in Safari, Drafts, Settings and Mail. I managed to take a photo on only one occasion before the artifacts disappeared. The photo is attached to this post.

There were many other 'styles' of artifacts and a lot of screen flickering but I can't reproduce them on demand and so haven't had any luck getting a photo.

The Screen Flickering and Artifacts occur rarely but the Touch Response issue occurs regularly every day and is getting worse.

All the usual steps to resolve software issues are not helping:
- restart iPad
- reset/erase iPad, set it up as new rather than restoring from a backup

I do not use a screen (film) protector. The iPad is an a silicon skin/case (link) to protect it from drops (hasn't happened yet!) and make it less slippery, so I can hold it more securely.

I'm not noticing either of these types of issues on my iPad Pro 12.9 (Late 2015), iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) or iPad Pro 10.5 (2017).
