What a joke….Absolutely ridiculous! ?
If you weren't a fan of Apple's Smart Case that comes with the AirPods Max, high-end luxury brand Gucci is here for you with its own case for the headphones priced at $980.

Gucci's "Ophidia case for AirPods Max" is an online exclusive that brings "vintage and contemporary together through its archive-inspired design elements. Playing with the contrast between past and present, the inside of the accessory is printed with 'Hodiernum'—a Latin word that means 'belonging to the present day.'"
Gucci says the case is made from environmentally friendly materials, features a shoulder strap, brown leather details, and a snap button to secure the AirPods Max in place. Like many AirPods Max accessories, Gucci's case exposes the AirPods Max's canopy allowing for easy carrying.
AirPods Max is priced at $550, meaning Gucci's case is nearly double the cost of the product it is designed for. Gucci does offer another case for standard headphones that costs $920, but it isn't designed for the AirPods Max specifically.

There’s not much to understand. It’s there to show that you have money. If it cost less, they wouldn’t buy it. They could also spend less and get better quality and better looking stuff custom made for them, but then no one would know it cost a lot.
I know, but Gucci was a very high class and respectable brand in the 70s and 80sIt's just a commercial brand now, selling to the masses. Louis Vuitton, Armani, Prada, Boss etc all went the same way.
And oil-rich countries, ruled by fairly sane dictators.targeted audience = youtuber influencers ?
The kind of rich people who stay rich. Don't just buy random expensive junk because they can. That's how a lot of people who become rich end up broke a couple years after their big paycheck stops rolling in.
Their items are all emblazoned with a logo. It looks like it's all designed to stand out. In a horrible way. For people to advertise that they have money. Which leads me to believe their target group is really people who want others to think they are wealthy. People making a decent income and swimming in debt.
Gucci sells to people that want to look rich not actual rich people. Hence the monthly payment s
This is a common misconception. The overwhelming majority of people who buy name brand "luxury" are actually poorer to middle class in an attempt to look richer than they are. Celebrities etc all get this stuff for free to convince fans this is what is needed to look rich.
No, but I've read other articles similar to that book. I'm sure I've seen a documentary or two. Plus pieces on how top athletes or celebrities go from riches to rags so fast. When what they made would've set them up for life.Your comment is spot on. Have you read The Millionaire Next Door per chance?
Damn, I laughed so hard.for when you lose your voice and cannot scream "I am a douche"
It's "prestige" for cashed up rednecks.I seriously do not understand Gucci.
No they don't. The typical Gucci customer is not rich at all. This is a brand that attracts rednecks wanting to pretend they are special, and wanting the experience of everyone thinking they are rich. They save and scrimp to add to their little Gucci collection. I know, I had a housemate like this, she was from a full on redneck background, worked as a shop assistant, was near on broke, but had delusions of grandeur. A couple of times per year she will have saved enough to buy another Gucci item. Tragic. One would have to sell a kidney to afford that. It's kinda funny that Gucci's website says "monthly payments available". The average Gucci customer has enough cash to not need monthly payments; only people who waste their money on luxury despite having an average income would need this.
Would rather spend the coin on some better headphones.
