More senseless decisions from Apple if this is true. Pure greed and money grab.

There is absolutely no reason for an “Ultra” model to exist above the Pro line. Pro suggests professional so should have all the best features.

The Ultra would only exist to have a higher price point to rob customers.

There should be one iPhone model whether it’s called 15, 15 Pro or Ultra. Specs should be identical and the only, ONLY differentiator between them should be screen size. Obviously storage sizes would be 256GB - 1TB for all of them.

I can't imagine how slow your messages must be to scroll! Have you considered saving your video / photo attachments somewhere a bit more safe and permanent like your photos - which can be offloaded to iCloud with unlimited space if you pay for additional 2TB plans? Might be a better home for your content. Seems like the technical version of those people who keep '2094 unread mails' on the little red badge lol
They are super slow. I only bother to do one scroll and then I stop because it becomes super laggy. I don't bother opening up other messages either 😂 That A16 Bionic Chip can't handle it. 🔥

Why do you need 555 GB of photos on your phone at all times? Can't you archive them to a computer? Not being snarky, genuinely curious. I've always treated my phone more like a regular camera. Snap photos, transfer them to a computer, do stuff with them, archive them.
I can but I feel like that's going to take too much time and I like to have the photos within on deck. Always on the go and never know when you need them. I never bothered to transfer them to a computer or anything.

If you changed that setting to 'keep 30 days only' your phone would have a massive weight lifted off its shoulders! Lol

But you'd also lose a tonne of what I presume is quality / personal and valuable content. But I'm sure it didn't build up overnight?

This isn't an exclusive thing under Tim Cook everyone. As much as I may not like Cook this sort of "Good-Better-Best" has been going on for decades.

Have we forgotten the iMac-DV-DVR-DVR+ line ups under Jobs?

This is just a natural extention of that.

True, it existed under Jobs in the early days / first iMac, but how often did you see that in the following iMacs? Seems he learnt pretty quickly back then. If we get an iPhone Ultra this year, I think the iPhone line will be as confusing and messy as the iPad line.

That will be rectified when yet another iPad model is released !

At this point what is even the point … same OS, same Apps, no matter which fairly recent device you use, you’ll end up using it the exact same way.
Couldn't agree more. When I get a new device, I usually go for the upper mid-range model. I don't want the low end and I don't need the ultra-high end. If recent rumors are true, Apple will be leaving a gap in that segment. I don't want to have to buy last year's model just to stay in my price range.

Like the Apple Watch Ultra the iPhone Ultra will be thicker, has 4 days battery life, and has a rugged, foldable design, so you can take it out hiking, sporting and stuff. $1999 at its base config. No ports, no physical buttons. If Tim Apple brings this post down, you know it’s true ;)

Remember when buying an Apple product meant you WERE getting the absolute best the company had to offer? Ya know like you didnt even have to think about it, you knew you were getting the best. Now its like they are selling different degrees of watered down apple juice.

This would transform the iPhone into the iCamera. iCamera featuring a phone. I think Apple developers are getting dizzy and lost running in circles around Apple Park.

Why are you worried about apple customers “being robbed”? Either the market will buy their products or not.

Tim Cook know nothing about what money means to most people and how they struggle for it. He got $100 million last year alone, he can buy anything he wants no matter what the price, he doesn't care about others. Absurd level of greed.

So assume they add features to the higher end phone, how do “pro” purchasers suffer at all? Seems like a little bit of envy on your part.
Because those features should just be part of the pro model like it always has been in the past. Now they pulling feature from pro to put it on ultra and charge you more.

like someone said earlier it’s still the same iOS, same apps, same experience so really what is the point. Slightly improved camera / photo? At this point the camera on all the iPhone is more than capable to take good pictures. There is really no point to keep upgrading and buying higher end models unless it changes the user experience like a foldable screen.

Citation.

Citation. he gives to charity, which means your just throwing words in a canvas.
Absurd level of greed.
As ceo of apple he leads apple in designing products for their target market. Don’t like the price, competition is great as there are lower cost android phones available.

Basically the above is just hyperbole.

Do you think that any products with a high price point exist only to rob customers? There are many products across all markets that have high price points — these continue to exist because of demand — nobody is being forced to purchase them.

Geesh how about you try this Apple for the iPhone. A design overhaul and innovation, not fancy names with fancy prices.

Since the iPhone X, iPhones are getting incremental updates, which for me are getting boring with the added price hikes.

Hopefully the rumour that pill cut out will be reduced in the iPhone 16 pro whatever holds. As more Display estate always helps.

In addition, it would be nice if Apple brings the iPhone Mini back. This should be the 2024 iPhone lineup.

  • iPhone Mini
  • iPhone Pro
  • iPhone Pro Max
  • iPhone Ultra
Move the regular iPhone line up towards the Spring and get rid of iPhone Plus.

Can we also get iPhone Ultra in Product Red, please? I miss the Product Red iPhone.

Would be even better if Apple just dropped the silly and confusing moniker and just rebrand the 2023 models as:

iPhone 5.4/5.5”
iPhone 6.1”
iPhone 6.7”

Apple has been following Samsung’s naming schemes and it’s becoming comical. Seriously just bump the display size on the smaller one from 5.4” to 5.5” to accommodate a larger battery and three rear camera system instead of all this fragmentation. Just get rid of the iPhone SE it’s dated in comparison and just takes away software development resources. Lower the price a little on the 5.4/5.5” and keep a prior 2 year generation for the entry level market.
