Ugh. Seriously?

Why can’t they just make one reasonably sized 5.4" or 5.6" mobile phone with a decent camera and not skimp out on the good display or telephoto lens…

Now I’d pay a premium for that.
Unfortunately, you belong to a small niche group as far as Apple is concerned.

Can’t the Pro users just buy the more expensive phone or are they confined to using only things with Pro in the name?

And again, it would just be a tactic to squeeze more money from those users, by withholding features that would otherwise be part of the Pro line only to upsell them to a whole new created tier. Just a few years ago, de 769 iPhone would get all the top features (iPhone 7 Plus). They created a new tier for a 999 iPhone X and left the 769 version like the inferior less diserable phone (iPhone 8 Plus). Now they want to do this again and add a third tier? At some point their greed has got to stop....innovate Tim. That's how you maximize your revenue, while keeping your customer happy, not nickeling and diming them.

In addition, it would be nice if Apple brings the iPhone Mini back. This should be the 2024 iPhone lineup.

  • iPhone Mini
  • iPhone Pro
  • iPhone Pro Max
  • iPhone Ultra
Move the regular iPhone line up towards the Spring and get rid of iPhone Plus.

Can we also get iPhone Ultra in Product Red, please? I miss the Product Red iPhone.

I don’t think the mini is coming back and to be honest, the Plus may be in jeopardy as well.

Nothing confusing about the lineup. Like many other things I just buy the best product a company has to offer at my budget. My iPhone budget is $1500. I hope Apple makes one.

My sister loves her iPad mini can’t really be a phone though in the same way as a phablet.
Well if Apple wanted to go the foldable route you could have both. The Oppo Find N is a 5.5” that folds out to 7.1”. The question for Apple is if they go that route a 6.1” iPhone could become a 7.9” tablet.

It’s just another pricing tier, now that they’ve made the standard models absolutely dogsh@t, more people bought the pro models and now they’ll add ultra above those already overpriced models.

See this is the fundamental difference between people who invest and people who are intelligent and change the world.

People who invest don’t understand things like the fact that making higher quality products and innovating gets you more customers and therefore more revenue and profits overall.

They simply want the company to reduce costs like trying everything they can to save extra pennies on every sale. This meanwhile is the worse strategy longer term because you’re then compromising what got them the huge sales to begin with, which was the extreme quality in materials and industrial design.

It’s best if the lower-intelligence shareholders just allow really smart people to make the right decisions. In this case, you have Tim not being very smart and following the shareholders, and leading the company toward a worse long term outcome by moving from Steve Jobs’ idea of quality and design leading to penny pinching and moving design from leading to a lower priority. Moving away from hardware to services. Etc.

Guess what? Without the investors, the “creative types” would not have any money to design and build things. Now I’ll agree with you that the Wall Street types that push for infinite earnings growth are not helping anyone but you need investors, full stop.

Incidentally, your comment about “low intelligence shareholders” is really obnoxious.

Apple better be releasing this iPhone Ultra in Ceramic Edition.

I don’t care how expensive it’s going to cost. Make it Ultra Premium. Targeted towards the exclusive high-end loyal users.
Yeah pretty much. They already ventured out into the $1000 phone market and everyone followed.

Now they should venture into the $1500 market. Plenty of money being spent to allow it.

Keep that ASP going up up up! For the stonks. 😆

Feels to me like Apple knows there will be foldable phones coming in a couple years, sees how much Samsung etc charge and wants to charge even higher, and expects to be more mass market so is incrementally getting everyone used to that $2K price with pro/ulltra phones creeping towards it.
Didn’t consider that! You’re right: a $2000 phone already exists and people are buying it. Why not Apple too?

The iPhone Ultra is going to look like this:

I’m pretty sure it will come with a 2TB option. We need more storage due to the 48 MP Camera. Apple might even double the MP count.
Actually, you know, that’s a very good point.

I would love to shoot in ProRAW exclusively, and having a 1TB+ would be nice.

Of course, I’m not sure what I do with all the nice looking photos, but for those that do, that would be welcomed.

But 1TB not enough already?? 😮

Probably lose out; unless Apple comes out with some sort of wired to wireless adapter using a modified MagSafe puck.

I have CarPlay and use it wired because wireless is problematic in my install while wired is pretty much rock solid.
Added bonus for wiered: youe phone charges while using Carplay (I guess, as I've never used it due to not driving) so you end up with a slightly topped up/full battery when you leave the car which might be handy in some situations esp for heavy users

Innovation is a sliding scale around here. Not everything a company does has to be innovation. Sometimes improvement is what is called for. And because another company may have done something first, doesn’t mean apple hasn’t innovated; eg Face ID.

But I do call emergency satellite SOS and crash detection on the phone innovations.
I bring up Apple recent moves has been safe and you bring up emergency satallite SOS along with crash detection as phone innovations.

Not sure if that’s a coincidence, but I’m not saying Apple has not innovated (only their latest moves has been safe)… you stated their innovation is the reason for overall revenue trending up. I respectfully disagree with that, Apple is known for their premium build quality as well as their ecosystem and customers pay a premium for it (imo).

I attribute their revenue trending up as a culmination of customer relationship they have built.

Exactly, This years ip14 non pro set the stage for this. Apple now knows that they can charge the most for the ‘latest tech’ which was just a year over year upgrade for all models in past. Apple will try and justify but just greed in the end.
What say Tim, I think people are willing to really stretch to get the best they can afford in that category.

Steve Jobs once said: Focus on making great products, and the money will come naturally.

Tim Cook is more like: Let's focus on making more money, while making it look like we're doing it for the customers.
Tim Cook is Steve Jobs hand picked person. Apple already makes great products and TC has expanded the offerings. Based on the revenue since 2011 the customers do believe apple is doing it for them.

Ugh, I really hope not. I know it's not 1998 and I'm no armchair CEO, but it seems the kind of simplicity Steve Jobs brought back has gone out the window. I get it, they want a cheap model for the India market, and a luxury special emperor shade of gold just for China, and 5 steps on the pricing ladder for you and me to decide on at our carrier or as we go through the check out (Mini, save £100?!, or normal, but extra storage... or base model larger size?!).

I miss seeing those ads with the thumb, reaching over the screen saying how it's the perfect size - Apple engineers / designers knowing what's best for me so I don't need to take the chance. Call me weird, but I don't really like too many choices.

I know there's a range of different kinds of users and situations and yada yada, but there was too in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. And a hell of a lot of the market still favoured the iPhone back then.

Proof 1 TB is not enough. We need 2 TB iPhones. iCloud is what saved me for now.

I’m saying apples overall product lineup, some of the lineup inciudes innovative ideas and some include improvements are causing the revenue to trend up. You say apple hasn’t innovated and I brought up some clear examples of where they did.

Overall product development in manufacturing in for consumer oriented companies is iterative.

Even the iPhone 1 was an iteration on the cell phone.

Yeah, he's good at the business side for sure. The profit speaks for itself. But Samsung also posts a killer profit, as does HP and Dell, I mean look at Shell's recent profit, is that really as simple as saying "well they made money, therefore forget everything else what they're doing is perfectly fine and we shan't criticise it"... you know?
