It’s worth keeping in mind it’s not the number of words but the syllables that is important. Alexa has 3, Hey Siri has 3, these can be more easily identified and is the reason Amazon chose the Alexa name. Given Siri only has 2 makes this much harder.
Qué Siri!

Qué Siri Siri
Whatever the trigger be
AI‘s not your cup of tea
Qué Siri Siri

I’d prefer it if they could make the way we use it now actually work, instead of failing to recognize me saying “Hey Siri” 75% of the time.

I thought it was just me. I’ve had lots of trouble lately getting Siri to respond to simple commands that in the past posed no problem.
16.4 made siri’s interface to HomeKit nearly useless for me. I named my garage door opener “Shuttle Bay 3” because I grew up on Star Trek. I used to say “hey siri, open shuttle bay 3” and she would open it. So now when I say “hey siri” (4x because it doesn’t hear me the first 3) “open shuttle bay 3”, she says “I’m sorry I don’t have an app for that”. Then I say “open the garage door” and she’s like “opening the shuttle bay 3”. So I tried renaming it something else, and it works fine, but I changed the name back to “shuttle bay 3”, and she’s lost her mind again. This is why we can’t have self-driving cars; because the ML people have overstated the reliability of their techniques by orders of magnitude.

I have a question regarding Siri and using it in the Car. I can't use Car Play because it crashes all the time so I have used a mount. Most times when I ask for directions to somewhere, Siri comes back to me saying "You have to unlock your Iphone first, but I don't recommend doing that while driving". Is there a way to automatically unlock the phone when you go into Drive mode so it can provide you with directions? It seems counter productive and unsafe to unlock your phone in order to use maps.
Your CarPlay crashes all the time? I thought that was just me. It doesn’t crash all the time. It only crashes when I really need it. Like if I’m driving an hour to work like normal, it’ll work fine. But then if I need to make a 15 minute trip to a new place, it’ll wait until it needs to tell me to exit the highway, and the the screen will freeze saying “in 3 miles take the exit”, and about 5 or 10 miles later, I’ll be like “gosh, I feel like I should have been there by now”, and now I’m 20-30 late.
Or, I’ll use the button to open my garage door every day, until I have a big load from the grocery store, and then the whole screen fragments and the button doesn’t work.
And I hate how Face ID made it so much more dangerous and obvious that I am looking at the phone for several seconds for it to unlock instead of the easy thumb scanner that I could find without looking.

Not a big deal at all. I have tried to use Siri and it never works, especially on my phone. No matter how many bars of service I have (or even if I am on WiFi) I get an error that there is no internet 75% of the time. Apple should spend the time and resources to get Siri to work on a most basic level before adding more shiny bits that only edge-lords care about.

Whenever I used Maps it would crash. It's not an Apple problem. It's a Honda Accord 2017 problem and they don't recommend getting it replaced. I love my car, but I bought one at the end of one generation of Honda and the start of a new one and it was probably really bad timing.

Siri is a linguistically difficult word for some (r sound is basically absent from some cultures altogether.) I can’t see this working very well.

Anyway, it would be better if they sunset Siri and got rid of it. Not functional enough for the 2020s. It is shameful and embarassing. Just replace it with a few prescribed commands until a proper ai assistant is ready.

Siri is just like Apples auto spell checker and correction, crap, all supposedly in the name of security.

Lemme guess. You’ll need the shiny new iPhone 15 just to be able to do that!???
Possible WWDC Keynote script leak found! You saw it here first!

“Getting Siri to respond to just ‘Siri’ instead of ‘Hey Siri’ required a whole new way of thinking… so we created a whole new brain.

*percussion heavy EDM instrumental/ gratuitous CGI close-ups of fake phone internals*

Introducing the next generation Neural Engine only possible on A17 and iPhone 15 Pro…”

If their Siri announcement is only this, they are beyond saving. A TRILLION dollar company has worked 1 year to “drop” hey from “hey siri”. Meanwhile openai went from v 3 to 4 and cognitive ability of the software went from a 9 year old to adult level understanding. This took them 3 weeks.

This should also illustrate how barebones Apple is run when these workers are scatterbrained running from project to project instead of hiring more people with those TRILLIONS.

On top of all this, you’re releasing headset which will ostensibly be partially controlled using voice, yet your voice assistant was B- quality in 2014 and obsolete in 2023.

Siri is currently Worthless.
When I ask Siri a simple question and it starts playing a song or gives me directions to KFC, total unrelated will be the day it becomes usable.

Few weeks ago I was watching a YT video on my iPad and at some point it triggered Siri on my iPhone. I jumped back the video to the same point and played it again, and Siri was once again triggered. There was nothing even close to "Hey Siri" on the audio of the YT video. Tried several times, always the same thing. Very weird and funny!
I don't know about everyone else, but I have started to see a few cases of Siri getting triggered for no apparent reason. This rarely happened prior to a few weeks ago...

The fact that they are not doing a complete re-write of Siri is disappointing in the age of GPT-4 and similar assistant.

They need to use a word that's not associated with failure.

Maybe some word like Chatgpt. Too many syllables, but you get the point.

I love this! The only reason I haven’t transitioned to HomePods from my Echos is how much more streamlined it seems to say “Alexa” than “Hey Siri”
