I'm not super impressed by the new presentation style. It's bogstandard big money corporate feeling videos where they then ask a young trendy person to pick out the music. Very stilted and scripted. They're also running way too long because they figured they could essentially turn the entire patch notes of all devices into a script.

With the live presentations you could tell from the presenters what features of the new device they were actually the most excited about to show, what mattered and what they had poured their heart into.

Yeah, Steve was way more engaging, and definitely not Siri like or made up.

What made him real and engaging is he would speak off script and from the the heart.
Being so intimate, passionate and knowledgeable about the products allowed him to do that.

I don't think Tim is comfortable enough to do that...unless it's about profit margins and supply chain.

Do you remember how "real" the old events felt compared with these ones?
Like when Jobs demonstrated the iPhone 4, and on WiFi it couldn't load the page because the whole room was connected to the same hotspot?
It felt way more authentic to me.
Now we just have some cringey lines and special effects pasted here and there every 5 minutes just so we don't die out of boredom.
I really stopped watching them in full after Steve Jobs passed.

Completely live in person events are not going to return, at least under the current leadership. There’s too much upside to pre-recording where you can completely control the presentation and avoid any risky mistakes. And as long as people are watching and reacting positively, why change the current format?

All presenters have completed the "Hand Gestures Training". We are ready to go Tim. (Strange that while Apple does an admirable job with diverse demographics, the diversity of personalities/psychographics is essentially zero. Its a Stepford army... Johny Srouji was an exception.)
It’s a PR event that is as focused equally on both tech and social engineering.

Would be fun if they would release blooper videos or use them as an intro in the future.
Yup. Apple could intro with an old demo fail and then say something like "We will hopefully not do that today..."

Then go ahead and include a real demo failure later. The internets would go nuts.

Apple is a sausage factory now. Lol. I see why Jony Ive left. They were so busy in the late 90's and 20's spitting out so many new ideas. The crazy amount of new products being delivered every year was astounding. Now it is the same formula of dry ideas. Can't innovate anymore is absolutely true. They do a few things well like iCloud, for the most part. But the crucial apps are a giant cluster of confusing nonsense. Music, appletv, podcast, iPhoto, etc.. have all gotten confusing to use and nothing new has been done with them. They are afraid to change them because it might break iCloud integration I feel. Apple was once really focused on software. Not a single revamp has happened in so long.

Honestly, I have little interest in this year's event. Not sure why, but I'm not too fussed with it. I won't put myself out to watch it - may just catch the highlights after.....
This year's events, plural. Clearly you are not one of those of us with pending purchases of iPhones, MBPs, AirPods, HomePods, etc. just waiting for the details around the latest upgrades to make final purchase decisions.

Personally I started getting a bit bored with the prerecorded events so I just watch them afterwards and skip anything I’m not interested in. I think it’s the delivery that I don’t like. Even Craig comes across a bit wooden. Just my opinion of course. Each to their own.
