Some may have hoped that Apple would resume full in-person events for its headlining iPhone launch this year, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
It won't happen. Remember Covid 19? Apple will not risk opening its doors to infect the Apple auditorium.
 
Events have become ultra professional productions. Big plus as it gets the largest amount of info out in the shortest period of time.

Personally I started getting a bit bored with the prerecorded events so I just watch them afterwards and skip anything I’m not interested in. I think it’s the delivery that I don’t like. Even Craig comes across a bit wooden. Just my opinion of course. Each to their own.
They’re almost too polished some how. I loved the first few but it’s becoming repetitive now.

And have you noticed how the VPs and Tim always have to pace backwards and forwards grasping their hands but their underlings present their pieces while standing still in front of a chart or something. You've reached the top of your profession when you are allowed to pace backwards and forwards in an Apple event video.
Grasping hands in front of you is actually a presentation technique the public speaking pros teach.

I think both the pre-recorded and the live events have pros and cons. The live events feel far more natural and less robotic/cheesy. We are all very aware they are trying to sell products but the whole enthusiasm of it is forced and just cringe within the pre-recorded events. However, at least they are straight to the point and have less filler.
 
Honestly, I have little interest in this year's event. Not sure why, but I'm not too fussed with it.
But there’s always someone on an upgrade cycle who is.

F’rinstance, my 11Pro is getting replaced this fall as I switch from ATT to TMob.
 
I like them much more. Less fluffing around, cool transitions, and a neat look around Apple Park. I hope they don't go back.

The only thing missing is demo fails.
Nope. We as a society need to get back into the world and interact with each other.

Especially for the young adults coming into the real world. We humans are social animals and we need to work and play in person.

The novelty wore off after the first one. These people get paid billions of dollars in salary and stock options and they can’t even pull off a live powerpoint presentation. The “jokes” are cringe, there is no improvisation or normal human emotion, superficial and contrived diversity at every occasion, it’s the worst of micro-managed corporate propaganda.

They are ads to sell things. Not sure what exactly you're expecting.

Well not repetitive for one and there is something just less engaging about watching a pre-recorded presentation.

Moving things forward I could see there being a half way house which mixes some pre-recorded elements in with a live presentation with audience which could work well.
 
Twenty years from now, if they are still doing product presentations, it will probably be a synthetic voice in your ear, played on demand by a thought trigger. :)

I guess my point is that a live presentation is much more human than a recorded event edited for perfection.

One of the important cogs that makes the bricks and mortar Apple Store work is the opportunity to make connections with employees and vice versa. My local (well, not really ‘local’ — 60 miles away) still has a few employees that have been with the store since it opened more than 15 years ago.

I hope at some point Apple realizes that maintaining a somewhat personal connection with customers is important, especially as they grow their business horizontally. Even they are subject to the relentless march toward commoditization.

On stage events with all the small snags that come with them are special in a world that is becoming more impersonal by the year.
 
How silly. Apple is the most (or close) valuable company in the world. These are serious product roll outs. Not a Saturday Night Live Skit.
You've never seen any of their WWDC intros then. Also some regular events had funny (or sometimes cringy) intros. Apple is not devoid of making fun of themselves.
 
I'd much rather have a live event. These pre-recorded things make me feel I can just watch it on YouTube later.
