Consider the iPad mini 7 as an 8.3-inch iPad Air. While it will not include a Magic Keyboard, it will gain the same Apple Pencil Pro and a multitude of other features. The primary concern is whether it will be equipped with the M2 chip or only the A18 chip. Please share your thoughts on this matter.
The differentiation between the M and the A line is a function of device size, due to heat dissipation capability. I don’t see that changing for the iPad mini.

My M1 Max MacBook Pro is probably the best Mac I have ever owned...really don't see a reason to upgrade in regards to speed or performance yet. Also, given that it has Mini-LED and Promotion, there isn't much in the display department I am yearning for yet either.

I really want to see if Thunderbolt 5 comes because that, cellular and Face ID are more meaningful upgrades to me than just the M4 generation.
Love hearing this. I have an old 2015 i5 MBP; it honestly does what I need it to do, and still operates well. I think when these M4s come out, I may try to see if I can score an M1 Max 14” ant a good price and just replace the battery (if needed).

Won't know until they are published but I'm getting 2, one for me, one for my parents. Mine will be a pro and probably a bump or two off of base RAM. The one for my parents will be a base unless the have stuck to 8gb, which I doubt, but if they do I will bump that RAM as well, 16gb'ish. I usually lean towards base storage as I have a NAS.
What kind of NAS solution do you use?

Mostly looking forward to the iPad mini. I have an 11" iPad Pro M1 but I want something smaller and lighter, and with cellular (my iPad Pro is Wi-Fi only). It'll likely be a very incremental upgrade from the current mini (A15, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB base storage -> A18, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB base storage) still stuck at a 60 Hz screen, but whatever. I just hope them trying to "fix" jelly scrolling by rotating the display controller doesn't simply shift the problem from portrait to landscape, or that'll at the very least be less noticeable.

If this rumor is to be believed, we'll end up with the following Mac lineup starting November:
  • MacBook Air M3 (and M2 as a cheaper alternative)
  • MacBook Pro M4/Pro/Max
  • iMac M4
  • Mac mini M4/Pro
  • Mac Studio M2 Max/Ultra
  • Mac Pro M2 Max/Ultra
So the highest-end Macs will be 2 generations behind..?

Again, Gurman and Bloomberg have no legitimate sources at Apple or anywhere else. They are making educated guesss you anyone reading this site can also make. For goodness sake, they got the date of the iPhone event wrong, what more do you need to know?

No mention of a new display. :(

Macs support 5K however trying to find a 5K monitor that supports more them 60hz like a needle in a haystack. At best Samsung has an Ultrawide 5K at 240hz. 99% are 60hz
Personally I’d be overjoyed with a bigger 5K monitor. 30” 5K 120 Hz would be nice, but I’d be perfectly happy with 30” 5K 60 Hz, esp. if it was HDR.

I’m very excited for a new IPad Mini. It’s just the perfect fit for a device on the go and especially working in hospitals as it fits my scrubs and has more utility than just trying to do everything on my phone. I really wish they would consider it more like the pro but smaller as it honestly is a fabulous device

iPad Mini truly is one of the best tablets in Apple's incredible lineup. I'm often switching between my 13" iPP M4 and my 11" iPP M4 and my 7.9" iPad Mini 6. With a product lineup this strong, I never miss macOS.

iPad Mini is just so delightful to use in such a magically tiny package... it makes me smile every time I reach for it to get something done.

I will say, iPad Mini 6 is showing its age now in terms of performance. It is almost overdue a good spec bump.

I'm so excited to begin producing content on the iPad Mini 7. It is going to be an unforgettable journey in time for all technologists who adore this product.

Apple will announce several new M4 Mac models around the end of October, with the company planning to launch at least some of them as soon as Friday, November 1, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Writing in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple will launch a new M4 version of its low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, as well as higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

Desktop Macs are not being left out of the refresh, either. Gurman reports that Apple is planning to unveil a redesigned Mac mini with both M4 and M4 Pro chip options. Additionally, the iMac is set to receive an update, with Apple's all-in-one desktop finally transitioning to the M4 chip.

A refreshed iPad mini is also reportedly on the horizon, with a potential release date in early November. This would mark the first update to Apple's smallest tablet since its redesign in 2021.

Looking further ahead, Gurman outlined Apple's hardware plans for the first half of 2025. The company is expected to introduce M4-powered 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, a new iPhone SE with Apple Intelligence, updated 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models with accompanying new Magic Keyboards, and a refreshed AirTag.

Mac power users may need to wait a bit longer for high-end desktop updates. While new Mac Studio and Mac Pro models with M4 chips are in development, Gurman says they are slated for later releases. The Mac Studio is anticipated around mid-2025, with the Mac Pro following towards the end of the year.

Tandem OLED hopefully on the MacBooks and that again hopefully is a sign that soon on iPhones we see those Tandem OLEDS as well

The 5k ultrawides (5120 x 1440) are half the resolution of the 5k iMac (5120 x 2880). Proof there needs to be an update on how we refer to resolutions. Main difference is pixels per degree. Curving the display helps some, but no math for Apple displays. Bummer is that MacOS is optimized for these displays and doesn’t use a lot of the antialiasing tricks that windows does. I personally like a 32 inch monitor at 4k with 100% scaling, and that just doesn’t look great on Macs at the moment.

So Apple expects us to pay full price for a Mac Studio, which is lagging two whole generations behind the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini lineup, for 8-9 months or more?

Get a grip, Apple!
Take a big breath. They have actual engineering and production issues to deal with. The Mac Studio M4 series will be here soon enough. You can buy it then or teach Apple a lesson and buy a Lenovo if that makes you feel better. Either way the world will keep turning and your life is not going to fall apart because you can't get your new toy this month.

Hope they finally fix the micro scratches in the screens 3 years ongoing issue.

At the end of October with some of them as early as November 1st... Is this a joke?

When Apple releases new versions of MacBook, both the Air and Pro receive the latest chip available (in this case, M4). However, when new versions of iPad come out, the Pro gets the latest chip but not the Air: in fact, this year, the Air got a chip two generations behind (M2 vs M4 for the Pro). I'm not sure about the reason for such a different strategy between the two product lines. If I were Apple, I think I would favour something in between: a one-generation gap between Air and Pro, with both being released at the same time.
