The guy was specifically asked by the journalist if we should expect anything innovative. He said we shouldn't, unless iMacs are revealed. (I certainly don't expect anything groundbreaking regarding iPads.)
He did not come up in front of an audience and said "the next Apple event will be boring".
Don't get offended.
This has nothing to do with me getting offended, not sure how you read into my post and came up with that. I'm just saying regardless of how the source of this info is ... it's nothing any of us users/fans really could use - again it's needless news.

we're all used to Apple events not having 'innovative' product annoucements/releases. That's not always what Apple is about.

So again this is needless and shouldn't really be cared for or thought up of as 'news' worthy. The other content is worthy.

It was needed to be reported. People were/are overhyping this event as something that will be amazing with tons of announcements etc. They see "loaded" as the event will have so full it will be crazy.
Instead, it will be usual spring event that is on the "boring" side. Just iterations and nothing else.

Managing your expectations towards an event is an important step to enjoyment. So I feel this is precisely why this was needed.

You may not see it that way but I do.

Also, since when people were reasonable?

I understand the overhyping = it's not just this event its EVERY Apple event; I'm sure you've noticed as well. Making this statement and 'print/posting' as news will only cause more of a negative affect and thus more talk from those hyping as innovative event or tons of hardware announcements - it's the same cycle.

it has what I've already stated as ONLY directly affecting their stock price:

BTW my expectations are always managed for Apple events - quality products or services or direction of the company with some fun (jokes, smiles), and a potential acknowledgement to someone special. If lucky some live band playing - but that hasn't happend in years now and I miss that.

I'm glad you've found a reason to like this news - so that proves my statement as incorrect that nobody needs this info. I appreciate that.

and yeah we're never reasonable lol

Cheers.

I agree that marcumors have better things to do than commenting every Gurman's sentence. That doesn't make Gurman a "ridiculous tech journalist". He was just replying to a question.
Gurman is the most prolific leaker of future Apple products, and one of the most accurate. Macrumors owe him a great deal.

I will bet my life that no Macs will be shown off at this event! I am that confident!

Bloomberg's highly-respected Mark Gurman says that he expects nothing "particularly innovative" or "extraordinary" to launch at Apple's "Spring Loaded" event next week, Tuesday, April 20.

apple-event-particularly-innovative-article.jpg

Gurman made the remarks during an interview for Bloomberg Technology, in which he reaffirmed that Apple will launch a new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, with the higher-end model featuring a brand new mini-LED display. Gurman says these new iPads are only an "iterative update" to the iPad line, an increasingly vital product family for the tech giant thanks to the global health crisis.

The event will be Apple's first product launch of 2021, and speculation about what could be announced is nothing short of rampant. One of the biggest new upcoming products expected from Apple is redesigned iMacs, which Bloomberg has previously reported will receive a design that is in line with the Pro Display XDR and a more powerful Apple silicon chip.

No timeframe has been set for when these new iMacs could debut and Gurman says, "if the iMac does indeed get launched next week, that's going to be a big deal." Apple is also reportedly preparing to launch AirTags, a circular Tile-like tracking device that can be attached and used to locate items such as keys, bags, and more.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 20, and will be live-streamed via Apple's website, the Apple TV app, and Apple's YouTube channel. It'll kick off at 10:00 a.m Pacific Time, and for those unable to watch, MacRumors will be providing full event coverage both on MacRumors.com and through the MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

I guess I can rest easy now that Gurman has "confirmed" that the redesigned iMacs won't be showing up at this event...

I was sooooo right!

If that's it then what is the point. I'm not sure a new iPad Pro, wonderful as it may be is worth the effort involved in creating an event. My feeling is there has to be something more to this e.g. new Apple Silicon iMacs. Of course this could just be my prejudice.
to create hype and get people interested. marketing helps alot as most know.

Remember the 1st Fall Apple Special Event last year? What was the reason to justify that event? All that was shown, in terms of hardware, was the HomePod Mini, the redesigned iPad Air, iPad, and the Apple Watch Series 6.

I guess the headlining hardware for this event was the redesigned iPad Air?

I read the headline as Apple subtly trying to set expectations low so that there isn't much of a blowback...

Thoughts?
It would be the case if Gurman wrote a news story stating that we should not expect anything particularly innovative. But he just emitted a personal opinion to answer a journalist. He even said that if the new iMacs were indeed revealed next week, that would be a big deal.
So I don't see Apple being behind this.

But having the video is more fun and exciting
Exciting for whom? Apple front office employees who are made to clap and cheer for every quotidian detail of their employer? C-suite execs who love to self congratulate themselves to death? The user who's been waiting for a new exciting product announcement about as much as they've been waiting for Duke Nukem Forever with a similar outcome?

So tired of waiting for some sign of innovation, new products are stuck in limbo until there obsolete. How many years do we have to talk about stuff until it becomes a reality? I can’t remember what I lost waiting for a reasonable tracker. These are some of the highest paid people on earth and they can’t get products out in a reasonable time. I wonder what will happen to the spaceship when someone comes along and eats Apple’s lunch?
Apple is truly blessed not to have a competitor like their younger self (led by Steve Jobs). They've become just like Blackberry and Microsoft in early 2010s.

Of course, Apple let’s others innovate, then they wait half a decade for the tech to mature and become cheap before they roll something out. By the time they have an all screen phone with a periscope camera they will be 5 years behind cheap Chinese phones, and it works cause the suckers keep buying it. I got a cheap Android phone last year and it has tech that the iPhone isn’t even RUMORED to have for years!

What are most people doing with their M1 MacBook Airs that requires "the fastest notebook chip every made"?
Xcode compiling, data analysis, Final cut, DaVinci Resolve, playing demanding games. None of which runs on iPad.
But I suppose you could still find a use case for the M1 in iPads. I would rather have a slower SoC and more battery life though.

Do you know what site you are on? I'm sure there are a lot of people here that find the Apple announcement videos fun and exciting to watch no matter what actually gets announced in them even if its just to see an Apple employee talking on the solar roof of Apple Park about the environmental friendliness of their products.

Well seeing as we are in 2021 and there are still no good full screen phones out. Samsung will add it in the ultra in 2022 so a year before Apple is likely to have it. Hardly 5 years is it

it works because of the software and people buy apple products due to how great the complete package is. Has nothing to do people being suckers. It’s called having the far superior user experience for the whole package. People don’t buy phones based off just specs alone

im curious what cheap android phone you have that tech is so much better
