Apple could be (and likely is) working on their own ChatGPT type thing. It doesn’t have to be Siri. Google after all is doing their own ChatGPT type thing and isn’t utilizing their current “hello google” assistant at least as of yet.
According to reports, they've only just cottoned on how far behind Siri is. It's currently a prompt list that is maintained and added to over time, and is a pig to rebuild every time something is added. Googles BARD is a pile of wank quite frankly and is pretty far behind ChatGPT. . If Apple releases anything like Bard, they'll be a laughing stock right out the gate. Just pay the licensing fee to OpenAI and have at it - be first to market. JARVIS level personal assistant would be a hell of a selling point.

I would love to auto arrange apps alphabetically.
Actually, THIS! Apple already prevents me from arranging icons out of their positions. If they are so anal about it, then why not auto arrange them alphabetically for me. Even Samsung OneUI can do alphabetical sort on the app drawer. I expect more from Apple.

How about proper syncing with the Mac?
It's really embarrassing that I can favourite pictures on the phone and when I import it to the photos app on the Mac (you know the one with the exact same icon and name as the iOS app) and none of the tagging, meta data (and some of the edits) gets synced.

My workaround is to just airdrop the "favourites" gallery to the Mac, and "manually" (thanks automator) mark them as "favourite" on the Mac app.
Wait, it didn’t sync over iCloud Photos? It should.

If you’re importing them manually, then how would you expect the Photos app on the Mac knew what you did in the phone?

My wish list, mostly things that Apple can copy from Android
- granular notification control on OS level. Right now on iOS, it’s either on or off. On Android, I can get granular control, allowing critical notifications while disabling others like marketing related, right on the OS.
- quick access to per app privacy settings. Again, on Android, I can go to my list of apps and access their privacy setting right for the specific app. On iOS, I have to go to the general privacy setting, the specific privacy setting (ie location), and look for the app. Can be annoying if I have a ton of apps.
- multiple appleID support for the App Store. On Android, I can have as many Google account as I want on the phone, each with their own Play Store account. Very useful if I have different accounts for different Play Store region. We live in a global world. Apple? Nope, I can only use a single region at a time. Really archaic.

Both of these are already available from the settings menu and scrolling down to the list of apps, unless I’m mistaking your request? The apps list will have toggles for contacts / location / photos etc access if the app is implementing integration with the specific OS capability.

There’s also per app notification options there on how notifications are presented, however not an ability to apply a content filter.

I know the code for something this advanced probably doesn’t exist yet but being able to set the volume of my alarm independently from the ringer... Futuristic stuff.

Seriously though, while they are at it get rid of the universal volume control. It’s 2023! Why can’t I set keyboard click, ringer, alarm, etc volume independently? It baffles the mind.

I want Apple to treat iOS 17 as they did iOS 6. So many details. Hits differently! This is what perfection looked like from Apple. 🥲

Those app designs look absolutely gorgeous! I don't know if it's nostalgia or what but those app designs are a million times better than what iOS 7 brought

All I want is a DELETE ALL / SELECT ALL button for iMessage attachments (photos) 😭
Man we cannot even get the basic delete all or select all or select as per user selection to delete a few iMassage messages on the Watch.

This whole iMessage in the cloud doesn’t work as advertised. Also on watch APL in iOS “mirror iPhone” is NOT want is happening for Messages!

False and misleading and should be removed! Either put the action into what it states!

Two simple requests:

- change the gesture to customize the lock screen. Often I pull my phone from my pants and it is in edit-lock-screen mode

- allow me to disable the back-to-previous app on the top left. I don’t want to jump back to Search or Mail when I’m in an app. I hate that option with such passion!

I feel alone in this but I do not have any claim about performance or stability, iOS 16 works perfectly fine in my iPhone 13 Pro Max, never a bug…
My wish list:
-Multiuser support on iPadOS PLEASE!!!!!!
-More integration between Siri and third part apps. I.e.:
1: hey Siri, search something in YouTube in the Apple TV.. play the first result.. etc
2: in CarPlay: hey siri, send an audio message through WhatsApp to XX..
- dynamic widgets: allow actions on them

I would whole heartedly appreciate a “Snow Leopard” style year of iOS / iPadOS updates.

Tick-Tock years.

Software features rarely get me to update my hardware.

I feel like we are in a hardware peak at the moment, we need time to allow the software to catch up to, and fully utilize the hardware of the last few cycles.

after the 8+, I haven’t felt the need to upgrade every 2 years, unless there is an excellent sale/deal.

So they will have a 'bLoodPod' that will have to be 'installed' at an Apple Store to provide the data? Dexcom* uses their 'pod' to get direct data, so Apple isn't going to be able to 'fake it' or their 'solution' will face plant or be as usable as their pulse ox dodad.

* I have no idea how a Dexcom pod is applied so it might be able to be self-applied? And Dexcon users out there?
All current constant glucose monitoring systems are user installed. Either weekly or fortnightly. I use Medtronic Guardian 3

iOS 17.0 may add at least one new feature: the ability to have multiple app stores in the App Store app. That way, inside the App Store main screen you can add additional certified third party app stores (Amazon, Microsoft, Epic Games, and so on).

I also see the possibility to choose the Web layout engine of your choice (Apple's Webkiit, Google's Blink or Mozilla Foundation's Gecko). Another possible change is third-party access to the NFC functionality, which is particularly very useful eastern Asia.
