The square shape watch looked like you were wearing a small iPhone on your wrist. The watch should look like a nice piece of jewelry that so happens to have a screen on it. Most people that liked the redesign liked the “idea” of a new design only.
I don't disagree with this. I actually prefer the design of the AW7 but that doesn't mean that I think it's a redesign simply because of having a bigger screen.

Probably the fall, unless they really want to refresh the same time every year now, like they did in 2020 and 2021.

I think even in 2020 with the pandemic they released a teeny tiny update in March..so I think no matter what apple always releases a new update once per year at around the same time

I was very concerned about the blooming, too, but I played around with them in the apple store and didn’t see any blooming. So *shrug*.

Yeah I never saw the ipad pro in person..but with lightening in the store and all not sure if I would even see it..what causes the blooming would it be fixed with an OLED screen or even that can have the same blooming? Would be great if a firmware fix would fix the issue but so far havent heard of any such fix

Maybe that Apple’s “double agent” (sorry for not having a better term) is working? And those “leakers, analysts” are producing incorrect information because of him? While that sucks, I can’t fault them on not having the right info because, well, leaks.

OLED or microLED wouldn’t have the level of blooming of miniLED, but I am guessing miniLED blooming only shows up under certain conditions - white text scrolling on black background, or whatever.

Hopefully Apple switches to a kind of screen that does not have blooming. I mean if you are gonna spend 1200 bucks on an Ipad I guess for me I expect perfection. I was going to trade my old ipad pro into the apple store so excited to get this version til I read about the blooming

i can’t think of anything other than material changes or going from rounded edges to squared off edges

Honestly I have this feeling we‘ll slowly swing back and forth from flat edges to rounded edges as design trends change. Otherwise on a flat slab of technology what else can you really do.

Different materials with same design is also a possibility.
I like my 12.9 but wish it was lighter and had more than 4GB of ram

Their ultimate goal is microLED. OLED is nice, but has burn-in issues. Mini-LED is nice, but has blooming issues.

and Micro-LED doesnt have this blooming issue? I know, silly question but why didnt they just do that this time instead of min-led wouldnt it have been less hassle, less people returning their ipads due to blooming

Same reason iPhone 4 was LCD

I wonder how much of a redesign the iPad Pro can receive. Feels like at a certain point any of these products (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) you can really only iterative and make minor changes.

Amazing how nice the iPad Pro still feels, especially for a design that's 3 years old. Really curious where they go with it.
Only major redesigns left are 0 bezels or a hologram...

MicroLED doesn’t have blooming, because each pixel lights itself. They didn’t do it this time because the technology is not yet available other than in large, very expensive, screens.

I doubt the number of people returning ipads due to blooming is very high.

I wouldn’t trust ANY timeline of product launches from Gurman after his total failure to predict last weeks event!

The iPad Pro's design is so perfect that any major change would be a regression.
I thought the same thing. What more can they do at this point ?

The only thing I "don't" like is the USB-C port, but in fact it's the Lightning ecosystem that should have faded away starting from 2018. I need two cables to charge my devices, and my Apple EarPods aren't even compatible with my iPad. They were already not compatible with many things to begin with. Really frustrating.

This guy (and others) get Paid for this? Any Apple fan could list off dates for events and product launches along with new features and be as accurate (probably more accurate) than them. Pmsl

Get out more and enjoy life, if rumours is dictating your purchase decisions and having an effect on your mental health I would recommend to seek help and reassess you life and purpose.
I was joking. It’s not that serious. Lol.

Files.app needs to borrow a lot from Documents.app. Plus why am I unable to load music files directly to Music.app from Files.app. Plus try streaming music to play within Files.app it sucks, integrate Music.app playlist functionality. Files.app needs a major overhaul hence I use Documents.app.

iOS does not permit VPN split tunnelling which is also a limitation and no way to read and edit some Acrobat DC files that require I believe JavaScript. I cannot even download the official Adobe Acrobat on iOS to open, read and edit these documents. Need a Mac or Windows for that. Craig fix these thing in iPadOS/iOS 16 rather than the lame iPadOS 15 “upgrade”.

In none my 11 years of using an iPad have I ever thought “gosh I wish I could move a song from music to my files app! Why can’t i use VPN split tunnelling!?”

They're planning to fix a permanent physical keyboard and trackpad, move the internals to under that keyboard, give it lots of ports, and give it macOS :D

I agree with you but to be fair Apple hasn't run that AD campaign since the stopped selling the 10.5" iPad Pro.
That is true, however why add trackpad ability and USB-C external drive support. It’s seems Apple is reliving this conundrum. When the iPad was released it had a plan for it and iOS had its part to do with it, sales were declining then Apple decided to make iOS more capable and not just a phones OS on a larger screen, it even started refreshing the hardware to bring much life and attention to the product. Then we get iPadOS 15 that basically seems like a minor update vice major OS upgrade. There was also a minor update from mini 3 to 4 while it stagnated until a major internal update was seen with mini 5. The Pro line is less confusing but not much better with a 12.9” and 9.7” then a 12.9” and 10.5” and finally a 12.9” and 11”.

It seems Apple is unable in recent as to where it wants or how it sees people using the iPad. It’s a crying shame as iPad is the best tablet compared to anything else on the market but is limited by a lack of vision for the OS.

Can Apple at least add a child’s mode in iOS and iPadOS, a child does not need their own tablet. I am not referring to multi-accounts just a child mode that is not guided access.
