Soooo… the iPad Pro line up will be the exact same as they were back in 2018… so no refresh of the design from 2018 - 2024…. That’s hell of a long time for it basically look identical…

If the rumours about MagSafe and the 2 x 4 pin connectors are anything to go by I expect apple will want to have an event for it… plus the redesigned basic iPad that’s rumoured also… just seems odd for them not to have an event…
Apple introduced the Magic Keyboard and mouse support for iPadOS, both pretty big updates, in a press release. Granted that was spring 2020 when the pandemic was taking hold.

As for the iPad design, I hope they keep the design the same, it's perfectly fine the way it is and if I can use my current Magic Keyboard with the next generation 11" iPad Pro I'll be a happy camper.

no problemo.

just let me know when i can buy an M2 Mac Mini. don't need a fancy over the top produced and edited video with "we think you'll love it 🙏" every 2 seconds.
2024 is the best case scenario. ;) Apple refreshment cycle for the Mac mini in the last 10 years or so is between 2 and 4 years.

If true, I already know these will be the best Press Releases Apple has ever made.

I liked the 2018 iPad mini five announcement. Just a tweet from Tim Cook. Of course it was a great product which helped.

I'd love to be thrilled with an M2 Pro mini next month. Consolation would be an M2 mini with 24 GB RAM option. I think that those will get sold out quickly and that there will be a lot of 16 GB M1 minis on the used market afterwards.

A little birdle has told me to expect the M2 Mini to start with 8GB RAM this year, but there will be more tiers available:

8GB base models
64GB + $1200.00
512GB + $125,000
1TB + $500,000

This should cover everyones needs perfectly.

I do hope that they keep 16 and 24 GB tiers. I think that a 64 GB tier would be more appropriate on an M2 Pro or Studio. At any rate, I think that any M2 mini would be really popular.

I just noticed you've got a Dell in your signature. Has even your local landfill rejected it?

I haven't turned it on in 2 or 3 years. It was a great system in its day and I used it as a development server at work for a few years running Oracle Enterprise Linux. I've used it as a Windows desktop and for Hackintosh experiments. It has 48 GB of RAM so good for playing with virtual machines too. It's my backup Windows system. I had a twin of it which I gave to a security guard at my previous job - he requested it as he builds free computers for the needy.

Dells are great during winter if you can think of a way to utilise the limited computatonal power, while simultaneously heating your home to the point of burning down.

I have an M1 mini, 2010 iMac 27, and 2014 iMac 27 on my desk right now. I was running three monitors off the M1 mini and just the 2014 iMac but switched to the three system setup after temperatures dropped. My office is in an unheated/uncooled basement and it can get to -20 F here so the extra heat of the old Intel systems is nice. I have 32 GB of RAM on both the 2010 and 2014 iMacs and put the stuff that requires a lot of memory on the Intel systems. There's a bug in Monterey that was fixed in 12.5 and broken again in 12.6 that was also a big motivation for three systems.

My Main Windows desktop is an i7-10700 system with 128 GB of RAM and 3 TB SSD. I only use it once or twice a week these days but it's nice for playing with virtual machines.

The Dells of that era were rock-solid and pretty good for Enterprise use. I've heard that Dells in the past and current decade aren't as good.

I predict that the upcoming Mac Pro will be the last product from Apple to mark the completion of the transition away from Intel. That's a big deal, a milestone, so I think they're going to save the best for last.

Lol. You really think they suffered?

I do think that you get less, on this aspect.

To the comment you were replying to: If M1 minis get discounted $200, then it's a tougher decision on M1 vs M2 unless you need particular aspects of the M2. There's a used M1 Mac mini for sale in my area for $400 and there's one that sold for $350 a few weeks ago. So the M1 new, can still be a great buy at the right price.

Yeah, I noticed they haven't announced a date for an October event yet...
I saw that Microsoft has a Surface event scheduled for Oct 12. I was figuring the latest Apple’s would be is Oct 11, so I’d expect an announcement tomorrow if there was going to be one.

Had the iPhone XR since 2018. Held my old iPhone 5S in my hand the other day and missed how small and compact phones used to be. How easy they are to use and less of a distraction than a larger screened phone. Here's my plan: switch to the iPhone 13 mini as my main device in the next couple weeks, while keeping the XR around for whatever I might want to use it for. 2023, I will buy the iPhone 15 since a new design is expected, and then the 13 mini and iPhone 15 will be my main devices which I will just swap my sim card back and forth depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing, etc. In Canada where I'm at, the iPhone 14/Pro/Max still has the physical sim card. Holding my breath the iPhone 15 will still have a physical sim card in Canada too. If not, then I will get the 14 Pro next year because I love photography and the 48 megapixel camera would be awesome. Plus, I hope they release a new colour in 6 months from now as they did with the 13/Pro, and I'm hoping it's green again because that phone looks truly awesome and styling.

Do you think Windows users get as excited for Microsoft events as Apple users get for their events?

I should also add that I have the midnight M2 Air and I love the idea of having a phone to match it so I'll be getting the 13 mini in midnight as well.

My carrier hasn't sold the 13 mini in a while - they sell the 12 mini though. I'm wondering if there are production issues on the 13 mini or if they're not making a lot due to demand. I bought the 13 mini last year and love it.
