at this point gurman is just guessing, and as always he is using safe words… such as ‘could’ ‘might’ ‘maybe’ ‘possibly’… IMO if apple can hold a LIVE event with people actually there to talk about Apple News+, Apple Card, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade, (March 25, 2019) they can 100% hold an online only event for spec bumps…

He is probably just assuming because there is no rumours of filming floating around that there isn’t going to be an event, but it could have all been filmed alongside the iPhone event already.

Apple could decide to release its remaining products for 2022, which includes an updated iPad Pro, Mac mini, and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, through a press release on its website rather than a digital event, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is currently "likely to release its remaining 2022 products via press releases, updates to its website and briefings with select members of the press" rather than a digital event. Rumors had suggested that Apple was planning a second fall event in October that would focus on the Mac and iPad, but that may no longer be the case.

Apple has three things on the roster for the remainder of 2022: an 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the M2 chip, an updated Mac mini with the M2 and yet announced "M2 Pro" chip, and updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

Apple announced the M2 chip in June for the redesigned MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro earlier this June at WWDC. Other than the new chip, the updates to the Mac and iPad will be relatively incremental upgrades with no major design changes rumored for the products. Apple has released products via press release in the past, such as the AirPods Max and the original AirPods Pro.

Yeah, yeah the M2 chip, yeah great new Macs, sure sure new iPads...is it me or is Tim Apple freakin' ripped! Who'd have thought that a supply chain guy would be hitting' the gym like that? ;)

Maybe it would be better with a preview in october and release Spring 2023 WITH M3 chips?

Meh, not likely.

Yeah the next 12.9 iPad seems to be an “S” upgrade with M2, Mac-like MagSafe charging, plus camera and battery improvement. Hopefully the 11” moves from liquid retina to full XDR display.

I’m really interested see what lies ahead as the flat design has come full circle starting with the MBP in 2016, your iPad Pro model from 2018, iPhone 12 in 2020 and Watch Ultra in 2022.
yup. same. very much looking forward to seeing what’s next.

I don’t care how Apple chooses to announce new iPad Pro’s. Just hoping they bring mini LED to the 11” so I can downsize from my M1 12.9”.

Maybe M2 is a stop-gap, due to issues over the last few years (COVID, supply chain, shipping) hindering the development of the various Mn-series...

So the current roll-out of M2 might only be the M2 for the 13" laptops, the Mac mini, and the iPad Pros; with a run of M2 Max SoCs earmarked for M2 Ultra & M2 Extreme Mac Pros...

Then Apple has a sweeping release for the M3-series of SoCs, with a unified design language across all Mac products...

And hardware ray-tracing...

M3 with hardware ray-tracing could get very expensive for me. Better start earning more money !
I hedged my bets, and invested in PC hardware for grunt rendering, given Apples track record. Seems I was right so far.

Those quoting Apple’s own two-year timeline need to remember that statement was made before a global silicon shortage. Plans change. I suspect the Mac Pro will make its debut at WWDC 23.

And those worried a press release only update for the iPad would mean no changes to the design need to remember Apple have released entirely new products this way. Moving a camera or changing a charging port is small fry.
The pandemic and the disruptions to businesses were well underway by the time they announced the two year timeframe and should have been accounted for.

It's simple. If they release a Mac Pro M2 and a whole load of legacy software won't work on it in their target audience, like video and audio studios and the bane of everyone's existence, plugins, then it's not good. They're taking the time to make sure it works, which for Apple, is not usual but commendable and makes business sense since this crowd is going to be spending the most money and screaming the loudest if it doesn't work. We've all been through this before and it wasn't pretty.

That's fine. Sometimes these long, drawn-out presentations (they spent over 40 minutes on just Apple Watch) wind up being more fluff and Apple patting themselves on the back than anything of real substance.

Plus, the magic evaporated when we could no longer hear Steve Jobs closing out with, "One more thing...".

Let’s not forget that in 2020 most of the World was under the illusion everything would be back to normal in 2021, which was far from the case. And even still, the pandemic is just one contributing factor to the ongoing silicon shortage.

Trade wars, weather, economic and now actual wars have all created a perfect storm. Most of which could not have been predicted or factored into anything in mid 2020.

i'd probably be fine grabbing the M1 mini but i can wait so might as well hold off a bit for the M2.
Mac Mini M2 pro is on this very October, or I will buy the Mac Studio even if the whine coil drives me mad.

Running 2015 MBP 15" and really want to upgrade to Mx but bad eyes mean I can't use the 13" models and the 15" M1 MBP is simply unaffordable. Bring on the MBA 15"!

no problemo.

just let me know when i can buy an M2 Mac Mini. don't need a fancy over the top produced and edited video with "we think you'll love it 🙏" every 2 seconds.
BINGO, that's one of the most nauseating comments going. Hey Tim we would like it BETTER if you lowered prices and the software updates WORKED from day 1 of release with out Apple "oops" we forgot to put that change in.
