… Also, my existing 10.5" iPad Pro is still doing most everything I want but with reduced battery life. So, I'm also going to decide whether or not I really need the 2021 iPad Pro or not. If I can live with my current one then the new one goes back and I'll check back next year to see if it needs replacing.
Yeah, I got the 10.5” iPad Pro in 2018 (open box at Micro Center for $425) and it’s still going strong (use it plugged in). My power needs could be met by the entry level iPad, but I was immediately spoiled by ProMotion.

Kind of agree or I am just getting „wiser“ with age and realize we are only talking about tech here. I used to be OBSESSED with Apple products. Now it’s like „wait, what iPad Pro gen are we at right now?“ wait what is the latest watchOS number?
Exactly!! You took the words right out my mouth . I’m looking into Stocks now. Investing first & consuming 2nd

I'm in the market for a new iPad. What are the chances of MiniLED on the 11" version?

Forgot to mention that. ProMotion is very nice on the iPad Pro. One reason I picked this vs the iPad Air 5. Although if I return this one, that one is a possibility.

Still no mini-LED on the smaller size is ridiculous. It would be like if the 14 Pro still didn’t have OLED and that were only given to the Pro Max. What gives?! I don’t want the larger iPad.
Supposedly Apple released the iPhone 14 Plus just to drive sales to the 14 Pro Max. So they are willing to carry a model just for product line differentiation. Are iPad sales so low that they're not willing to split the 11" into mini-LED and edge-lit versions? Or is the price really that steep that people wouldn't buy the 11" if it were mini-LED (but somehow would buy the 12.9" one)?

It's not like they have the non-Pro line for cheaper edge-lit versions. It's just super weird how they treat the 12.9" model as true Pro (for the display), but not the 11".

Like others, I guess I'll hang on to my 2018 until Apple sorts out the 11" display.

(And if you think this isn't a big deal, watch proper HDR video on one of the new MacBook Pros. You'll quickly be sold on mini-LED over standard backlighting.)

I wanted biggest iPad available, so I got 12.9 Pro. Yes, miniLED was nice bonus when compared to 2020 12.9, but thats about it.
If Apple had non-Pro iPad with larger screen than 12", I would probably get that one and save bunch of $$$ while doing so.

Both agree and disagree. iPads dont sell as well as iPhones do, it might not turn out well for their sales.

My only complaint with it is it’s like holding a pizza box when I hold it versus use it on a desk. It’s right on the edge of what I’d consider to be comfortable for holding.

Curious to see if they would go landscape with the front facing camera (put it on the long side of the screen).
Right now I'm very happy with my 11" M1 iPad Pro; I upgraded in January from an ageing iPad Air 2.
This needs to happen so badly. It looks terrible anytime I use the iPad with the camera…

I'm getting the 11" silver 256GB. Running out of space on my 64GB Air 3 and this would be a great upgrade.
Mini-Led would be nice even with a price increase but if it doesn't then I will upgrade to whatever comes out in 2026 or so.

I am extremely happy with my M1 iPad Pro…probably the best “computer” I’ve ever owned.
I use mine all the time. I have a M2 MacBook Air and use it for certain tasks (file management, running Windows 11 w/Parallels and various non-Mac apps, etc), but my M1 iPad Pro is my go to device. I have the cellular 12.9” version with the Magic Keyboard and it makes it very mobile / flexible. Ironically, when I pickup the M2 MacBook Air, the first thing I do is touch the screen to scroll / select! Oops. I use Stage Manager (iPad OS 16 Beta), but mostly to select apps. I like the active apps floating on the left side of the screen and touch them with my thumb. It’s a decent interface, but not as easy to use or as versatile as Mac OS.
