This was obvious as soon as the CADs leaked.

A tired 6 year old design but now thinner and OLED. 🥱🥱🥱

iPad Air 13" using old iPad Pro 13" parts. 🥱🥱🥱

They know full well this trash is just a formality that needs shipping, Jeff Williams needs sacking or moved to a team that doesn't handle hardware design. Bean counter.

And I'm eager to see what Apple plan on doing with the storage and RAM configuration... since the OLED will factor into an increase in cost.
Raise the base storage to 256 GB and delete the 128 GB model, but don’t change the price of the 256 GB model.

This effectively would increase the base price, but in a way that customers may be able to stomach on an already expensive product.

At least one new Apple Pencil
No major event for "The Best Pencil Ever," telling us how Apple has thought deeply about the philosophical and aesthetic considerations of holding a pencil and thus engineered the ultimate writing/drawing experience?

We must truly live in a dark time to be deprived of such a magical experience. 😔

The store-refresh doesn't line up with Gurman's. The products would be announced this week and the new OS' would release at the end of the month. The products would need to be released three weeks later to have the OSs pre-installed.

I seem to be in the minority when reading the other comments, but I would have preferred an event. Not because it's necessary, but because I like it. :) I like the build up to the event when the first invitations go out, the livestream and live blogs during the event, the hands-on videos afterwards, etc.

iPads haven't been updated since 2022, so some love for them from Apple would have been nice, haha.

I would have liked it as well, especially for the new iPad Pros, given that they are going to change the design and display technology at least.

Can you imagine if this is just a refresh of the current iPad Pro (same LCD iPad Pro) with just the addition of an M3 chip? Because it is hard for me to imagine the introduction of a whole new flagship iPad Pro with just a web refresh.

I expected the MBA to be a press release since it is most certainly just a spec bump (although have my fingers crossed for RAM and/or storage increases in the "standard" configurations). But did expect a iPad even since the pros will be the most significant update in 6 years or so.

How about a new larger iMac already?
Hopefully with a screen size that starts with a 3 and price that starts with a 2

Affordable. Quality screen. Usable specs. Which two would you like? 🤪

Afraid a usable 30+" machine will easily tip the scales past $4k.

For RAM, they never advertise the amount anyway.
Well, for standard iPads they don't advertise the RAM.

But for the M1+ era of iPads... they have listed the RAM and the M2 have increased it to 24GBs (for the Macs). So, I'm curious will they do some changes to the configurations. The 1TB model receives 16GB RAM and I'm looking forward to checking out if that gets a shift.

I was really hoping for a live online group Vision Pro event where I could sit in a simulated version of Steve Jobs theater and clap with my simulated hands at the beautiful simulated iPad set before me and maybe pet Tim Cook’s persona / mii on the back.. How will I go on?

I'd agree when it comes to most people at Apple, especially Tim Apple's speeches, they've always been horrible and ultra-boring.
However, nothing beats a live presentation by Craig Federighi, he's the coolest of the bunch, always a joy to watch him! He has the perfect balance between humour/comedy and sincerity for the new tech.

Not enjoying the pre-recorded presentations by the ever-changing random Apple employees, where it's all about diversity while a natural talent for presentation seems to not matter at all.
Craig’s my favorite too. I always smile when it’s his turn to speak. I wouldn’t mind if he took over after Tim, too!

I am expecting new ipad mini 7, maybe with A17 chip as informed this week, but no news here about it is very frustrating…do you think Apple is going to update it?

I mean, at this point, just release the prerecorded video and let us watch it. Lol.

Apple does not plan to hold a traditional event to unveil new iPads and Macs, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Instead, he said Apple plans to announce the products on its website with a "series of online videos and marketing campaigns."

If this plan is accurate, we can expect the new products to be announced with press releases on the Apple Newsroom website.

Supercharged today reported that Apple has "scheduled briefings with select members of the media" and is planning an "in-store refresh" this week, leading it to believe that new product announcements could be imminent. However, the website falsely reported that new iPads would be announced in October 2023, so skepticism is warranted.
This is so funny. 😂 We should be skeptical with what Supercharged is reporting because they were wrong about new iPad annoucements in October 2023, but we shouldn't be skeptical about what Mark Gurman is saying. Is this not the same Mark Gurman who said it was unlikely there would be an October 2023 event

and that Apple would just issue a press release for any new products?

And then...

Is this not the same Mark Gurman who said to expect a USB-C Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad at the unlikely October 2023 event?

And yet none were announced...

If you're going to point out someone for getting something wrong, then it's only fair to point out the other person (who got multiple things wrong) as well.

Yes you are right. Actually I had thought that they did but then couldn’t find it. But I see now I was just looking in the wrong spot. Post corrected.

As for RAM, I’d hope they’d just spec all the iPad Pros at 16 GB. There really isn’t any technical reason to make the larger capacity models 16 GB while keeping the lower capacity models 8 GB. (The claim someone made previously that there is a need for double the RAM to handle more storage is simply false.) However, they are continuing to push the iPad Pro as a productivity device, and it would make more sense for a productivity device to have both more RAM and more storage from a marketecture perspective.

If they don’t make them all 16 GB, then I would think they’d keep the 8/16 setup, although 12/24 or even 12/16 would be a nice bonus.

The camera in landscape orientation will suck. I use my M2 iPad Pro like an iPad, with a Pencil and mostly in portrait orientation. Keyboard + iPad is for zombies.

Is there anyone else like me, that just wants Apple to take a concept like Samsung Dex and release its own version? All current Apple SOC on iPads and iPhones are more than powerful to handle a complete OS in dock mode connected to external display.

Pro iPads = MacOS in dock+ext display mode
non pro iPhones = iPadOS in dock+ext display mode
Pro iPhones = MacOS in dock/ext display mode

I realize this would cannobolize a chunk of their Mac market, but I think it would also grow their Phone and Tablet share. And STREAMline products that will save on future R&D, manufacturing and marketing costs to offset. And knowing Apple, they could use it as an ECO marketing play by claiming a reduced carbon footprint. Evolve an all in one device to the next level like they did with an iMac when it first came out.

Apple, you do have that Steve Jobs Theater.
Give yourselves a reason to use it.
Really, they’ve pushed everything so far to the point of abstraction. If they would just 1, make something worth staging a big announcement, and 2, announce it on the day its available, and 3, make a live event out of it. Instead they‘re doing the opposite of all those things, and it makes the result looks as corny as a microsoft event.

Id be surprised if there is not an event for a redesign of iPad Pro and its Magic Keyboard. If it's just a spec update then no need.. but this product is a serious product that costs the same as a MacBook.

A bit puzzling... I wonder if iPad Air willl get a redesign for a new Magic Keyboard.. or if it will just continue to use the first gen keyboard? But then its odd.. As new Pro keyboard would like have function row key, as does the base iPad already... and then middle tier without? it would be very strange. 🤔
