Tim knows selling a $2000 iPad Pro in person, is a tough sell.

While newer rumors suggest it might not be as high, when you add the new accessories (Pencil 4, and aluminum Magic Keyboard, it could very well take you over $2K
Yeah, this is the reason why I'm not excited about OLED. It's not worth the added expense imo.

good. we don't need a whole song and dance. they are just revision updates. plus apple events are so dull these days the less the better.

still lookin forward to my 15" M3 Air.
And MacBook updates are boring too.

Just get an m2 air already

Indeed. I'm eagerly awaiting the 13" M3 Air. I couldn't care less how they announce it. If it just appeared on their website tomorrow with no fanfare at all I'd be perfectly happy. No need for song and dance for what will be the same as the previous product with just a faster processor.

Is there anyone else like me, that just wants Apple to take a concept like Samsung Dex and release its own version? All current Apple SOC on iPads and iPhones are more than powerful to handle a complete OS in dock mode connected to external display.
But Samsung DeX is not a completely different OS, still based on Android... but with a different UI.

Pro iPads = MacOS in dock+ext display mode
non pro iPhones = iPadOS in dock+ext display mode
Pro iPhones = MacOS in dock/ext display mode

I realize this would cannobolize a chunk of their Mac market, but I think it would also grow their Phone and Tablet share.
Well, it wouldn't cannibalize their Mac market... but it would certainly take a hit. And Apple is all about profit... why consolidate their Mac and iPad into one product, when they can sell you on both.

iPads never die. At least noe of mine. I still have four diffrent iPad Pros including my beloved 2018. Unless the software is far better, i cannot see why i would need another. one.

Breathed-on MacBook Air I can believe, but a slimmer iPad with an allegedly all-new process OLED display? Either the update rumors are false or this one is.

Or secret option #3 - Apple has given up.

I just traded in my 2018 pro in anticipation, but I'll probably wait until the back to school deal to get some new headphones.

Surprising considering they did a whole 30 minute event in October for a new chip and one new color for Mac.

So will the products be available to purchase straight away or will there still be a pre-order period.

Interesting that he isn't ready to confirm that the new iPad Airs will be using the M2 SoC?
The M2 lacks the GPU advancements of the M3. Such as ray tracing, mesh shading, hardware decoding. Can’t see Apple using older M2 at all anymore. Same goes for any Mac updates.

I think an iPad mini with a Mx chip would be great. However, my v6 does a great job and the one I take most times when out and about (doctor visits especially).

I have 1GB+ internet with WiFi 6E at home. My 11" M2 iPad really takes advantage and downloads are really quick. The router puts out 2.5Gb into my 10Gb ethernet network and makes the M1 powered Ultra MacStudio and Max 14" MBPro with 10Gb ethernet adapter seem fast. The M2 Pro mini installs MacOS much faster due to 10Gb internet snd the M2 Pro chip with 24GB of Ram as compared to my 2018 maxed out Intel mini.

I will be interested in seeing the performance difference between a M3 Ultra MacStudio and my M1 Ultra MacDStudio. I expect the MacStudio with M3 series could support 256GB of Ram. To get the value out of my M1 Ultra MacStudio, I would put iit n my summer place's office. Apple will generously probably allow a few hundred dollars in trade (of an over $7,300 sales price in 2022) on a M3 Ultra MacStudio similarly fully equipped.

I expect the M3 mini to be crippled in max memory capacity so as to not steal M3 MacStudio sales.

This weird obsession that we have to celebrate Apple products with these cringy, drawn-out, over-rehearsed performance pieces is the absolute strangest thing about the Apple community. What an utter waste of time for everyone involved, myself included. I can read a press release in five minutes and gain just as much, if not more, information. I'd rather Tim, Craig, and the entire staff at Apple remain anonymous and hard at work creating and refining what comes next. That's their expertise and talent and they should stick to it. If I wanted a show, I'd watch a movie.

Agree with those who think these pre-recorded, high production events are boring and pointless.

We don’t need a stupid “Mother Nature” video, just release the new products.
The whole Mother Nature bollocks while still making products where you can’t easily replace the batteries?

one could argue that it is part of Apple’s sale strategy, and therefore not a waste of time for them.

Your mileage may vary, and you’re free not to tune in and not waste your time.

The store-refresh doesn't line up with Gurman's. The products would be announced this week and the new OS' would release at the end of the month. The products would need to be released three weeks later to have the OSs pre-installed.
Often times the iDevices and Macs are shipped with an OS version that is not current, with a specific OS update for them at or shortly after the release date.

Yeah, I gave my son my 2017 Pro in anticipation, but I'll also probably wait until the Back-To-School deal too, since it's just a couple of months later.

I'm using (or rather, struggling to use) an iPad Air 2 in the meantime.

Not everything needs the dog and pony show. M3 in the Air is nice and all, but most people wanna see new designs.

That is a lot of stuff for a press release, but I don’t think a compelling event. One thing they can’t have their launches be: boring
