No. Although having a killer initial app or two (unlikely) would be very cool, initial apps will not be what AVP is about. It is about the hardware. AVP is about a new long-term product category for Apple.
I agree. The iPad was nothing more than a blown up iPhone when it launched and it didn’t stop the success of that. Granted, its had some challenges but still a decent money maker.

Just like Tim Cook, I wouldn't be seen dead wearing it but I'm tempted to buy purely keep it in it's box and sell in 10yrs or so.
Then don't go outside your house wearing it as per its design and function and don't let anyone in your home in case you die while wearing it. Now you're all set.

The iPad came in at 1/2 the price everyone was expecting when it was announced. Vision Pro's $500 more than expected price is the same price of the original iPad. Not really comparable in any way except for parts of the OS.

Will be interesting what Apps will actually be available upon launch. That’s what is going to make or break it at the end of the day.
Somebody posted in another thread recently that it looks like Shapr3D has a version of their CAD system in works for Vision Pro. Don’t know if it will be available at AVP launch, but that has me extremely intrigued.

Even if Zeiss would normally charge a fortune for such lenses, I suspect Apple will be willing to subsidize that so the cost isn't more than $99. It's well worth a few million dollars to avoid the significant negative press they'd get from charging $500 for people who need glasses. This is an accessibility issue!
Keep dreaming. Apple will be happy to charge a huge commission on Zeiss already extortionate cost.

Let’s go! Can’t wait to get this. A revolutionary mind blowing new platform. I’m wondering the first corporations that will start handing out to employees. Infinite screens(monitors) just might help with productivity( ya think?)
Yeah sure because productivity is notoriously constrained by the lack of large enough screens… /s

I’m hoping the “Apple Tax” on the lenses isn’t too extreme. A Mac Pro Wheel kit or Pro Display stand level markup would be unfortunate. I bought the official Zinni Optical lenses for my Quest 3 for $49.99 and they are great. Even with markup for the Zeiss and Apple names, the $99 price seems reasonable. But since the headset is a PRO (Apple speak for PROfit) we’ll have to wait and see.

So you r just gonna look at it sitting on a table collecting dust and to be able to say „I had it first“??? Makes no sense

Bring it on: the first entirely new thing from Apple in a very, VERY long time... 6-7 years of Apple R&D time in the making.

While I lean pretty positive on what is known about it already, I look forward to actually trying one to pass final judgement with my own eyes. Hopefully it does what I would seek out of it very well.

I agree, I look forward to watching the YouTube vids that will be made by the tech press when it finally releases. It will be very interesting to see what they have done with the OS in its final form.

Many people replied your exact “not interested” “not for me” “no thanks” “hard pass” “it will flop” etc right before iphone release. Msft CEO Steve Balmer was the biggest “iphone will flop!” critic lol
And I remember a couple years of people noticing my original iPhone and asking, “is that the Apple phone?” with a tone that showed they were puzzled why I would be such a geek for wanting one.

What’s different is that thanks to movies and mostly TV, everyone has an idea about AR goggles and what they do.

Holy smokes! It's nice that someone here gets what AVP and its potential as a new product category is about. *

I think I just felt plant Earth tilt a few more degrees.

* Hint for the naysayers: It's a LOT more than projecting multiple virtual large computer displays in your living room.
