This size would be great for me. being 2m tall and with large wrists, looks good. I am just not excited about paying $300 more than the standard wi-fi AW. Maybe wait a few months and see what promos will come by maybe slashing $100 from it or something.

Do I have to be a super-athlete to buy it? Will they sell it to an overweight middle aged guy, or will wearing it scream "poser"?

I doubt many if any will take notice at all.

Also, you’re free to buy whatever you want. IMO if buying the watch somehow motivates you to be a not-overweight middle aged guy it’s money well spent.

I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do, but I am a sucker for titanium anything. That and the new bands they offer look fantastic. But I’ll be sticking with my properly round Epix 2 for the next couple of years, with its 16 days of battery life and 100M water resistance and tri-system GPS capability.

Originally had an order for a SS series 8 but then noticed that series 8 is on BT5.0 whereas ultra is on BT5.3 … and while the battery life estimates are slightly misleading 5.3 should still yield better battery life in general so going for ultra

Would have been more useful if they had made the screen much bigger rather than the case. Oh well.

I want one! But way too big :( (I have a 40mm)...

Not sure why people says Titanium scratch easily.
I have a titanium bicycle and it's holding great!

So nice to have the possibility to dive with it!

I don't know why all the hate. Looks like a rugged Apple Watch to me. After seeing the Apple Watch Ultra, my current Apple Watch 7 looks like a ladies watch. Perhaps all the haters are women

New images shared by media personnel in attendance after Apple's "Far out" event are offering the first hands-on look at the all-new Apple Watch Ultra, a new watch designed for athletes and pro users that includes a new design and advanced features.

apple-watch-ultra-hands-on.jpg

The Apple Watch Ultra features an all-new 49mm design larger than previous Apple Watch models. The watch features a new housing on the right side for the Digital Crown and the Side Button and includes a new button on the left that Apple calls the "Action button." The button can be customized to control different functions of the Apple Watch, including starting and ending workouts.

The new Apple Watch Ultra is considerably bigger than even the largest Apple Watch Series 8, so it may not appeal to all customers. For others, Apple today introduced the new Series 8, which includes a new body temperature sensor focused on women's health in the same design as the Apple Watch Series 7 from last year

The Apple Watch Ultra is priced at $799, is already available for pre-order, and will begin shipping on Friday, September 23.

When videos are made of sizing, I think it is important to know the body shape and size of person first.

Skinny dude with Watch Ultra might indeed not be a good fit.

But if you can palm a basketball and have XL size hands and decent sized arms, it's probably a good fit.

So folks - if you are going to show me on video how the thing fits, let us know if you are an ectomorph or a mesomorph or an endomorph kinda thing.

Not sure about the utterly stupid hyperbole name of it, but it’s got some pretty solid features. Looks kinda cool too? A bit better then it’s competition IMO. Plus Apple has the App Store for access to serious outdoor activity apps.

First rule of photographing watches on wrists - never use a lens wider than about 50mm equivalent otherwise you just make the watch look way oversized.

Experiment: take a close-up photo of your own watch on your wrist using the standard iPhone camera 1x lens. See what I mean?
