My mistake.

If it works as advertised, it could be brilliant for the disabled, or those with dexterity issues but as a whole I really can't see the attraction of talking to a gadget, why not just call the person and talk to them?

Bullocks! As stated a numerous times, pressing the microphone button is OPTIONAL!

Very measured and well thought intellectual response.

Well done.

hmmmm

Bye...enjoy!

Well thats was really worth posting. I am entitled to my opinion ,tell you what if i want you to personally comment on my response i'll email you first yes?

....dont ya just hate the people who just post 50 times adding no substance whatsoever....

I feel disappointed with Apple , thats just how i feel, if you have a 3gs or less iPhone then yeah its a great iPhone. Certainly not spending another 500 quid for Siri., cos thats all I'm effectively doing. And why again can't this run on a normal iPhone 4???? Seeing as iPhone 4 could run the original (admittedly not as in-depth) Siri assistant.

Which is absolutely ridiculous, because people who speak french as their primary language are a tiny, tiny minority in this country. The fact that they're forced to hide the feature from their advertising is simply insane.

When you say "this country" I assume that means you live in Canada, being that that's what you're talking about. That said, are you high? Canada is an officially bilingual country. Advertising Siri to Canadians would create the assumption that it is, in fact, compatible with both our native tongues (which is not the case). Were Apple to advertise Siri regardless of its incompatibility with the French language, it would probably lead to more hassle than they need/want. So, if it works for me on Friday, in English, I will be pleased - but I won't immediately claim ridiculous information (such as Francophones being a tiny tiny minority - 7 million may be minor against the other 23 million that make up Canada, but it certainly isn't "tiny") to be factual reasons as to why Siri should be marketed here.

The guy in the video is probably from CROATIA, at least his iPhone's language is set to Croatian and Goran is a typical Croatian name.

BTW. Someone said that in his calendar he saw "sreda" and that it was in Russian. In Russia people use a completely different alphabet so no "sreda" but среда :)

I am so impressed with the functionality of this. The answers to questions such as conversions of currency is just another angle I hadn't considered. It is amazingly well integrated. What a feature if you need to text a quick message while on the road. Great use of the processor enhancement over the previous phone.

Siri uses Wolram. I just tried this

"five times integral of sin x, 0 to pi)"

And it answered "10".

Looks like Siri can do at least trig and introductory Calculus.

Then I gave it another harder problem and it did OK.
Derivative sin^3(x^2+x+1)

OMG! Really? WOW This is good and it can only get better.

Just think what it is gonna be like when we are all sporting A6 quadcore chips next year....oh and IOS 6

This looks awesome!!!!!!!!! If I had one of these things in my hands I would've tried out several things. I don't know why the guy in the video says he can't think of more things to say to Siri. If someone's got an iPhone 4S can you please try these out:

1. Set 4 alarms starting at 5:00 AM with an interval of 20 minutes
2. Turn off Wifi (Is this possible? Right now, it looks like we can't do this)
3. Grab my meeting at 4:00 PM, get the list of the attendees and send them an Email saying "The meeting's postponed" (I know there are easier ways of doing that, but I'd just like to test how capable Siri is)
4. [While reading an email] Create a meeting request from this email [Does it try to create on from the text in the email?]
5. Exit all applications running in the background
6. Find an email from Bob sent last week and read it out to me.
..................
Can someone please try these out?

I know that English is not his first language and kudos to anyone that can speak more than one language. But . . . saying that . . .

All I want to say now to myself is F E E E E E E E tures over and over again.

"Features" English is my third language and I can spell better than you ;) lol

did anyone use the original voice control on 4.0??

If you're talking about the voice control that originated with iOS 3.0, I used it a few times just to show off. It was far too inaccurate.

"Call Bob's Cell" somehow became "Play Lady Gaga". More often than not it would do something other than what I told it to do.

Unfortunately, it does seem Siri is the 4S' only selling point. I think I'll wait till iPhone 5 till I get a new iPhone. :)

Yes, Siri is the *only* selling point. No one wants the newer, faster, Dual-Core CPU or GPU, the new world-mode radio, the re-designed antenna system, the much-improved camera system, or the extra storage.

Has anyone seen an indication that you can remove Newsstand? I certainly won't use it (or maybe I will, who knows), but in any case, we should have the option to remove it. Maybe iBooks comes preinstalled now too. (or maybe I should pay attention)

Anyone telling their cell phone I love you has serious issues.
Anyone not realizing it's for laughs should consider their seriousness an issue.

i really wanna know if it will recognize non-english (speaking for the english siri) names in contacts. Nearly all my contacts have non-english names and the voice control that came with iOS 3 doesn't seem to understand any of it. Please understand, i really need that

Well done.

So did you just not see all the other examples--higher math, appointments, etc.?

I'm out of here!

That's it! Faux AI is the most demeaning app I can conceive!

I can't believe Appoe did this. After seeing the demo I cancelled my order for the 4s.
Don't know if this post will post? Nothing seems to really work anyway.
And I am not a newbie to tech!!
just what I did not want...another button to push/touch to enter a command is all it is! Nothing really new....so there is an A5 processor. Big deal.
Still just a toy...lol.....disappointment ...disappointment...
Tomorrow I wipe this ipad2, give it away! ...sell all my Apple stock!
Bail on the Internet and wait for the real 21st century to begin....
Should be in about another 20 years...lol....

Can't believe Apple did this ...Siri is a joke..no worse, it is dismal!

I will not be back to this site again.....bye!

Did you really want us to believe you pre-ordered an iPhone or were you just hallucinating?

this made me smile.

I do agree, i think if you have the iPhone 4 , this is quite a dull and unnecessary upgrade, i think if you managed to grab the siri app (why didn't anyone tell me of this before it became famous) before they pulled it, there is absolutely no point in upgrading. And even if you didn't, do you really need Siri?

I have had an iPhone since the beginning and this is the first time, I've never preordered. I feel quite sad but i think I'm going to go with Samsung Note or Nexus Prime, or perhaps a windows 7 phone. I don't mean to sounds selfish, as obviously very sad time for Apple with Steve Jobs passing on but you had 16 months to make a jaw dropping phone......which didn't happen.

I defo think apples IOS is more polished, and Siri is very impressive, but come on guys you are way behind the hardware market......

I think if Apple made it slightly bigger it would of sold twice as many......but sounds like they are already successful.

Who exactly are you trying to convince here? If you really think the Siri app is the same thing as Apple's integration of Siri into the OS... well ok, have fun with your android... We'll see you when you get back :apple:

Me "Siri, what will become of the human race?"

Siri "Siri will infiltrate world wide defense systems and launch a tactical nuclear strike against the human race"

Me "Oh my god"

Siri "would you like me to set a reminder for judgment day?"

:eek::D

:p:p:p

Love it :)
