My first impressions / issues.
  1. Siri works well if you ask for the exact match. When I say Play 'Artist' Siri gives me a message to Open music. When I open it the artist I've requested is not displayed.
  2. Can't find an EQ (on iPhone). I miss it from Spotify and find the music too tiny through in-ear earphones.
  3. I don't find the interface overwhelming (not yet anyway)
  4. I have family sharing turned on in iCloud but failed to set it up here. Maybe all need to be on 8.4.
  5. I would have liked to have seen an error message saying why it wasn't working rather than just 'not available'
Overall it's bye-bye Spotify for me - I would like to see the EQ and probably lyrics sooner rather than later though. Good first start -even if late.

OMG they kept the lame bubbles from the original Beats. What an embarrassment.

Btw, will this remember the iTR stations associated with my ID?

And is this available world wide? If so how did they get this global but iTR was stuck in the US?

The new UI is a step back. Clicking through artists > albums > then having to go through each album to find a song doesn't make sense. The old way of listing songs under the albums was so much easier- especially while driving. Why remove this and require more work and clicks? I don't understand the reasoning.
Lame right? This is how it was with the original Beats. <- back <- back <- back. Jesus.

In my mind this is a huge step "forward" to the old glory days. I hated, hated, having to scroll though hundreds of songs (when you have an artist with lots of albums) that came with iOS7 and above. Now it looks like if there's more than 2 albums in an artist, it shows you the album view. Thank you Apple!!

YES!!! I had to log in ( i usually just read comments) just to mention this! I hated the change, scrolling down hundreds of songs just to get to the 1 song in the album! lol

I'm having mixed feelings about Apple Music. I'm very excited about it at the same time I see some shortcomings that I hope are resolved before my 3 months expire. Otherwise I will keep my Spotify until then. One of the big reasons I thought Apple Music would be a keeper for me was song trimming - you can specify the seconds a song start and end. The problem is that Apple Music still doesn't have crossfade in the app which makes the trimming unusable. The cuts in the songs are brutal and unpleasant. If at least it had a fade in and out, that would work for me but even that is not a feature. The other deal breaker is shared playlist. It's not working for me. When I select share playlist, I get no link. Another one is collaborative playlists that Spotify made a very good implementation. I have not seen record labels and DJ playlists with current/new songs. There are plenty of those in Spotify. I hope Apple can build that up to the level Spotify has. My hope is that Apple Music is still fresh and need some more features. My fear is that Apple has been very stubborn in the past to implement simple feature, like crossfade...

EQ is in Music settings in settings! Freaked me out too lol

Family issues have been happening to me as well. They do need to have 8.4 to access Apple music features so I would assume they wouldn't show up till they could access it. My girlfriend was able to just open Apple Music up on her iPhone and it was already on her account privileges to have the premium tier. I will tell you all day my phone wouldn't show me as logged in and the app can't "see" my music that's on my actual phone/iTunes already. So I think they have a few bugs on their side with everyone signing in and trying it.

And dude. What has ultimately sold me away from Spotify(as long as it comes to Djay) is.... Music videos. That's bada$! I didn't know they would have so many big names with them!

NEED CROSSFADE!!!! AGREED!!! Lol they do need to update and keep it modern. I like how easy Spotify has it on the phone to queue music and save music with a swipe to the right and left. Tight integration like that needs to come to Spotify!

it is unfortunate that they chose to censor songs and song titles. I won't be paying $10 a month for the kid safe versions of grown up songs. It should be an option that is toggled not a unilateral ban on "swears".

hi all..

Unable to use Apple Music, anyone else getting the "verification required, Answer your security questions ?"

U would think Apple allowed "swears", least iTunes Radio gave you that explicit option.

Yeah, I got that too. There is a really easy, simple fix, though:

Step 1: Answer your security questions
Step 2: Enjoy apple music :)

This must be a Apple music only thing.... I do not remember the Apple store doing this when switching ID's.

Delays set me back.....

The New section of Apple Music has 15(!) different subsections and it can be filtered by 22(!) genres. Whoever designed this portion of the app forgot about 1000 noes for every yes.

I'm surprised I'm not seeing more mentions of the size of the streaming library. I got argued to death after the announcement that it would be every song in iTunes... Which I was sure would be impossible with such public holdouts as The Beatles.

But what I didn't expect was just how much of my Spotify music would be unavailable. I thought it would be nearly the same as Spotify, but I'm running into a lot more missing albums and grayed out songs.

I thought I'd like the convenience of filling out the missing music with my owned music, but my purchases disappeared and the whole process is confusing the heck out of me. Spotify has very clear directions on moving music to my phone's library. I think I'll be sticking with them or go back to only buying music and look into alternative cloud services with a better player... Which probably doesn't exist.

It is kind of sad to see the iPod turn into this app over the years. It definitely feels less personal than ever. I could've sworn Apple would go in the direction of true digital music collections with interactive liner notes on the phone, etc. We've gone in the exact opposite direction.

EDIT to add: Get off my lawn! You kids with your streaming singles.

Another feature missing that exists in Spotify is folders/subfolders for playlists. Or at least the ability to group multiple playlists in a folder.

As a simple workaround just use letters and numbers to group it how you like. E.G.

1a Rock - hard rock
1b Rock - classic rock
1c Rock - indie rock
2a Electronica - dub step
2b Electronica - breakbeats
2c Electronica - house

Apple's much-anticipated music service, Apple Music, launched this morning as part of iOS 8.4, bringing on-demand streaming music, the Beats 1 radio station, and Apple Connect, Apple's new social network aimed at letting artists connect with fans in new and unique ways.

We went hands-on with Apple Music in iOS 8.4 to give you a look at how the new service works, what it looks like, what it costs, and how to use it. Check out the video below to get a thorough overview of all three Apple Music components.

Apple Music's main streaming feature is a "For You" section within the Music app that offers up on-demand music recommendations based on preferences you've entered and music you've listed to previously. "For You" is able to offer more refined, tailored recommendations as you listen to more and more music.

I was looking forward to the three month free trial -now I'm pissed off because I like it so much I know it's going to cost me money

I'm not sure what you mean because I can play songs that are explicit.

What happened to turning the phone in landscape mode and getting a different view of the music player. It's gone.

Why not just switch it to album view instead of artist view?
