I like the new design, though I'm not sure that what we're seeing is the final color scheme, it's not as tall as I thought it was going to be with the new screen. It still has a decent height to width ratio.

I don't like the color scheme in the mockup, hopefully the phone looks better in person, it's looks weirdly retro in that picture.

That's the fakest looking fake I've seen so far.
Wrong font and camera lense is off center. This will definitely NOT be the next iPhone.

a) Its a mockup not a real phone, as stated in the post title and the post itself.
b) Its 95-99% representative of the phone you will see on the 12th

Headphones on the bottom??

Why am I the only one who is upset about the headphone jack on the bottom?

How do you sit the thing upright and listen to music (like resting it on a treadmill while using apps)?

That's a terrible place for the headphone jack - like what they did with the iPod. Horribly awkward.

That would actually make me hold on to my 4S and not upgrade to the 5.

You aren't, it's been brought up here dozens of times, and the general consensus is that having it on the bottom makes far more sense than having it on the top.

This can't be repeated enough. This was the first thing when I heard about the bottom headphone jack. What an obvious design flaw. You now have to sit the entire thing upside down or on it's side.

Ok, correction. That's the worst mockup I've seen so far. Pure garbage. Not indicative of what will be revealed.
There will be NO two-tone crap on any production phone.
Anyone who doesn't think apple is capable of sending out some fakes very easily, is smoking crack.
But, at the end of the day, the overall appearance will not deter me from buying. I'm most interested in speed! I really wish they would bring back tapered edges though. The 3 was much more comfortable to hold.
Processor, Ram, 4g are what will get me the most excited. Screen size increase will be a plus, but I'm perfectly fine with 3.5, as that's what I'm used to for the past 5 years. I can't stand those huge android displays.

Not a flaw. I myself... and pretty much everyone I have ever seen puts their phone into their pocket with the top down, screen facing into your leg. I love the fact the headphone port will be accessible in that position. People talking about exercise machines are in the minority.

Yes there will, different materials, one alumium and one glass so impossible to get the same finish.

They are capable but would they bother? No.

"640kb ought to be enough for anybody." - Bill Gates

What Gates actually said, in a comment about PC history, was more like, "We all thought that going from 64KB to 640KB would be enough to last anybody for the next ten years. We were wrong. It was only sufficient for about half that time."

In other words, he was wryly pointing out how hard it is to predict what will be "good enough" in the future, even the near future.

Therefore, your comment's intent is still valid: people often think what we have today is good enough, and yet in just a few years from now, it'll be seen as old fashioned.

Thank goodness for the new mic grille that is not a single finger-blockable hole! At least once a month I block my mic without realizing.

Interesting you raise that as I often do it intentionally as a way of muting the phone.

Incomplete???

Couldn't it be possible that Apple has some secondary process that they are applying in-house or at a more secure production facility that deals with the back cover? Possibly some technique for finishing the surface so that it appears more like the glass back cover?

Different materials automatically means two-tone contrasting colors?
I think not.

Why would they bother? Because Tim already stated a double down on secrecy. This would go along those lines of doubling down. If anything we've seen so far were accurate we'd be seeing C&D's everywhere.

I guess we'll see in a couple weeks!

The "new iPhone" - iPhone 5

I really love this design. It fits perfectly into Apple's lineup. Look at the iMac - 2 tone design. Look at the MacBook Pro - 2 tone design. With the grey glass (as shown before) it really looks like an antiglare MBP.

I really hate the "All-black" Design shown before, on which the aluminium at the back and the bezel is black, that looks really cheap. I think this mockup looks MUCH better, just because it fits perfectly into Apple's lineup, as I said before.

But there's one thing that doesn't fit: Every Apple device with an aluminium back has a BLACK Apple logo on it. (except for the MacBook Pro, but there it's illuminated, but that's an exeption). I can't imagine Apple wouldn't put a black Apple logo on an aluminium back (and a white Apple logo on the white iPhone 5).

is it possible that case makers only have the physical dimensions but the actual details of the design on all these mockups is just a guess (I understand that we wont know until sept 12, but all of them have the exact same theme). No matter how you look at it, its just a stretched iphone4. I like the design of the iPhone 4, but not changing the design in 2 years seems a bit lame.

General consensus? No it's not - most people prefer the headphone jack on top.

Can someone PLEASE explain the purpose of that ugly two tone?
Well some say it's for antennas but I think it's so that the new phones are instantly recognizable as new. They new people want others see them with new stuff and making it as before, few would know the difference.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I want a bigger screen not a taller screen. But I am very invested in the iOS ecosystem. I'm not sure it is enough to keep me though.
Don't let the door hit your a s s on the way out.

By the way, it's not tall and skinny, just tall. It's no skinnier than it's ever been.

Go look at someone who is 6' 5" with a 32in waist and compare them to someone 5' with the same waistline, now, who looks skinnier?
DUH --- Why didn't you make your stupid point with someone 9 feet tall vs 6 feet tall, then you would've appeared even more brilliant?!

In your scenario, it would be 5'4" vs a 5' person. The difference in the two phones is quite slight.

It still makes no sense to bebop back and forth between OSs. There's either an ecosystem you prefer or there isn't. If you like one, no matter which, stick with it. Don't change because the phone looks 'cool'. Truth is, no one gives a ***** what your phone looks like except you, the user.

That is except for those people holding those phones that are sized like mini tablets up to their ears. They look so funny and pathetic.

Wow are You wrong. Everything Apple sells has a very big design-element to it, materials, finish, build-quality and colors. An owner of some kind of Apple product saying it's doesn't matter if the thing looks cool and no one other than "you" care don't know what they are talking about.

That's why there is a point to his Nokia flirt - they also understand this mechanism.
