I said it before and I'll say it again, I want a bigger screen not a taller screen. But I am very invested in the iOS ecosystem. I'm not sure it is enough to keep me though.
The truth been told i was exacly like you last year when i switched to android , but google has a very nice ecosystem to , the only "advantage" in my opinion is the itunes syncing but with samsung kies is almos as easy (and i say almost becouse i have all my music in itunes ...) now i can´t see myself going back to the iphone ....
Samsung Kies is an embarrassment to mankind..
You've ignored or missed my point. You shouldn't buy a phone based on how it looks. Which is how their post came across. Buy it because it will do what you want.
The specs 'are' nice but nothing I personally need. I'm still using my 3GS without a hitch. Screen is more than fine for mail, web, books, etc. The iOS ecosystem and dependability between phone, pad and computer is still superior to anything anyone can yet show me.
Despite wishing for a new phone, it's just not needed. I'd like one, but won't be buying new iPhone in the near future.
On the other hand, I do wonder why Apple does lag behind othe producers. With all their expertise, you'd think they could make the ultimate phone while still providing size, battery life, ecosystem, quality, screen size, camera, etc. that would at least please, or shut up the whiners.
Because the phone needs more than the two external antennas. LTE needs four, not sure about which of those can be shared with other cell radios. There's also WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The diagram they showed at the unveiling of the iPhone 4 had all of those, except for LTE, being handled by the outside bands.
Agree 100%. Big mis-step by Apple. I don't need to see an extra line of text in the contacts list, I need a wider screen to have a better media experience. Tall & skinny = lame.
Why would Tim Cook say they were doubling down on security and then all this leaking of parts?
WTF? Turn the phone on it's side and you have a 16:9 screen perfect for watching media. The viewable area will be much improved over the iPhone 4S (no black bars).
So Apple gives you the perfect screen ratio for watching media, and you bitch about it... seems you're not going to be happy with an iPhone regardless.
Nevermind.
The two tone design is only acceptable if they get rid of those idiotic antenna bands.
Are they seriously keeping those?? Give me a break. There are countless other phones on the market that don't need out-of-place, off-color stripes on all sides of the device to function properly.
This phone is looking less and less attractive to me, and I've never owned a smartphone other than the iPhone.
I have to say that this design looks very crowded. Very unlike Apple.
The bottom with the headphone jack, speakers, mic, dock connector and the camera above the top speaker lack spacing and don't get me started on the two-tone back (although it'll probably get rid of the reception issues).
If this is the new design Jonny is taking steps backwards or he spent too much time looking at Samsung's designs for the patent case.
I was surprised that anyone took Cook seriously when he said that they were doubling down on secrecy.
At the time, it seemed to me that it was just a typical bit of self-deprecating humor from an old Alabama boy. Southerners tend to poke fun at themselves (and others) that way.
He seemed to be restating an obvious goal, one which is impossible to obtain. In other words, he was poking fun at the interviewer for such a dumb question.
But, that was just my take. YMMV![]()
The screen is taller, therefore it is bigger...
I love iOS. I'm heavily invested in it with an iPad and a couple Macs. What is frustrating to me is lack of choice. You get your choice of colors but same design. Since 2010 we've had essentially the same design, although now we get a slightly larger screen.
I don't think two or three diffent iPhones would kill Apple. Give those who want a 4.5" screen a phone, and keep one for those who want a 3.5". Some differing designs couldn't hurt either. People like variety, and choice. I'm not a fan of Android, but I'll concede they at least give you choice of a features you personally like.
Some things work well as "One Size Fits All". The iPhone isn't one of them.
It's a smartphone not only an iPod. And it's been stated (a lot) that landscape mode will be worse for scaling websites and ordinary apps will just look silly in landscape mode (take the address book as an example). But hey you get another row of icons and/or twitter babble. Progress.
Can someone PLEASE explain the purpose of that ugly two tone?
