"Airpods sound just as good if not better than earpods" - MKBHD

$159 vs $30 for slightly better? LOL...Apple, this is pathetic.

You're essentially paying $120 for the wire-free convenience and Apple design/quality tax. The Bragi's, Samsungs with complete wire free technology cost more and the sound quality isn't great either

With time the cord on the Jaybirds has annoyed the heck out of me. I've tried the setup where it's wrapped to your head, but it never stayed on well.

I appreciate the suggestions for managing the cord, but I'm just so done with it. Half the time recently I've been using the Moto Hint for running just to avoid a cord (at the great expense of audio quality). You want to talk about poor quality audio, you should try the Moto Hint (though in fairness it's not really meant for music).
interesting. over the 4 years with jaybirds on my headline I've never had issues with pulls. Maybe I'm doing something different than you. It doesnt touch my skin at all. I can turn completely left to right and it doesnt move. i can lay down on a bench and it doesnt move. It did take some adjust at the start to figure it out but the cord has never annoyed me after i ran them this way.

Guys - would you please take a selfie with the airpods in your ears?

Thanks

How's the noise cancelling?

Been considering some Bose QC 20i's to replace my aging Sony NC Cans that are falling apart.

Really want something more portable then the Sonys, so I can use them more regularly. The Sonys I only bother with for long haul flights. But not to sure about in ear.

Also if the airpods would work with LG OLED TVs, would be great for watching TV while the kids sleeping, or Mrs is watching something on the Kitchen TV.

Hey, we're Californians, 29 degrees is definitely freezing to us!
It's all good. I'm originally from the Bay Area, so I get a kick out of teasing the lucky ones who still live there but like to complain about the cold. :D

I got mine today I think they sound fantastic. Better than the EarPods and better than my $200 Powerbeats 2. Without the wires!

Seriously what kind of sound does anyone expect with the speaker the size of a pea. I'm pretty sure they are not going to sound as good as my Paradigm speakers.

The fact that they will pair immediately with my phone relieves quite a bit of frustration for me. Plus having one in and one charging for all day talking is worth it. Not having to push them down my ear to change the volume doesn't bother me at all.

Just picked up two pair at Apple Store The Grove in Los Angeles. Will post review later.... :)) Those in Los Angeles -- they have a few more in stock from what I could see.

What time did you buy yours?

I was there this morning in line & was about 5 people ahead of me before they sold out.

Do the stores receive additional shipment throughout the day??

The MacRumors videographer had to wait in line in the "freezing cold" of Palo Alto? That's laughable! The overnight low was in the upper 30s. Hardly "freezing." But hey, if it makes the videographer seem like a hardened journalist willing to go to any length to secure a pair of the elusive AirPods, then mission accomplished, right? :D

It was -18º in Minneapolis yesterday. They should have come here if they wanted some sympathy for crying about being cold.

Another quality post, making another quality assumption.

From all the reviews, falling out was not an issue at all.
Pardon, how is my post incorrect? I said if people put things that land on the floor in their ears then they're morons. These could very well do for a host of reasons, one might simply drop one by accident whilst holding them but because of the lack of wire there's a higher chance of it hitting the floor.

Having used a Moto Hint for well over a year, I quickly got used to using my watch to control playback.

But if playback control is important to you, and you don't want to be fishing for your phone (if you don't have a watch), then the AirPods likely aren't for you.
I find that even with my Apple Watch to control music when I use my Audio Technica wired headphones, it's just a laggy unpleasant process. With the remote app frequently loading up that unnecessary full screen album art page at the slightest miss. I only ended up with a pair of Powerbeats 2 due to a deal with my iPad and until them would never have considered them, but man they're useful. Bluetooth, water resistance, great battery life, remain in place, sound good, recharged via a traditional and cheap cable, and physical controls!

Well, sure, picking something up off the ground and putting into your ear is strange. What I was referring to though, was your assumption that they'll inevitably fall out.

Have you been using the AirPods? What exactly are the steps if say I'm listening to music from my watch but then want to start listening from my phone?

I had my PowerBeats 2 paired to different iPhones and it is a pain. I would turn it on and it would remember the last paired phone and connect to that. If I wanted to connect a certain iPhone, I would go on the other phone and turn off bluetooth, turn off the headphones then turn them back on and it would connect to the phone I wanted.

With my PowerBeats 3 and AirPods I would just swipe up on control center and select the PB3/AirPods and viola it connects. None of this fumbling around with turning on/off bluetooth and re-pairing nonsense. Trust me, Apple got it right with the pairing but there could be improvements with more seamless device switching such as automatically connecting to the AirPods on the device you press play on but then people would complain about that too.

Has anyone had the time to test pairing and sound quality with non-Apple products? For example, a desk or laptop with a Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongle.
Tested on Firestick, first gen and Surface Pro, first gen.
1: Can't adjust the sound on the Firestick but the sound qualtiy is good.
2: There was an awful hiss on Surface Pro until I turned off the Surface Pro's internal mic.
Played some music on Surface Pro and the sound on the Air pods was fantastic.
Music volume can be controlled on Surface Pro via the physical buttons or the icon in the systray.

recieved my AirPods today and not impressed. Got them in my ears now and just browsing safari on my iPhone 7 plus and I noticed a faint scratchy popping noise at random times when I'm scrolling a page or bringing up the keyboard.

I can replicate this every time I bring up the keyboard

apple support said to return them for repair! Like I'm really going to get a brand new product repaired rather than replaced!

anyone else notice this?

I saw on Reddit that other Bluetooth devices can cause interference. Not sure if it's the AirPods' fault or not, but either way it shows up on the AirPods.

The guy said the problem happens when his iPhone is near his Bluetooth mouse, but if he moves his iPhone away from the mouse, the problem goes away. Does this apply to your problem?

Hey, we're Californians, 29 degrees is definitely freezing to us!
I'm from Philly and flew back and forth to LA every other week for the past couple of years. I saw people shivering in jackets in 60 degree rainy weather. Gotta think 39 degrees Fahrenheit would feel like below zero for me. And for the people who act superior in these situations, we all know we'd poop ourselves if the ground started shaking a little haha.

@Relentless Power Are you again harassing me
I have one word for you: Roll with it or it will never end.

Back to the good ol days of keeping our phones away from stereo speakers, huh?

I have a £60 ($90 at the time) pair of Bluetooth headphones that I use at the gym. They have a wire between them, which I put on the back of my neck when doing a workout. Sadly, if I put my iPhone in my pocket, and turn my head away, the signal is lost. If I put the iPhone on the floor, the signal comes back, but the wire is so short that it constantly needs to be moved out of the way.

My new AirPods fix all this. The signal is amazing. I left my iPhone upstairs in a back bedroom, and went outside to the front of the house. No drop in signal! iPhone in pocket, no drop in signal. No wire means freedom of movement. These are going to be revolutionary for me at the gym.

The Bragi Dash in-ear 'phones possibly do more, but they don't have the W1 chip, which seems to be the USP of the AirPods. The Bragi Dash are also much more expensive.

If you feel that £159/$159 is too much for you to spend, then that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but to call people "morons" for wanting them, is just banal. It's nothing we haven't heard before. I bought these because they fix a number of problems with existing Bluetooth headphones, and I'm happy to pay for that.
Ya...call me when the battery won't hold a charge and you have to buy another pair. Then you can tell me how great it is to spend $159 again.

Obviously you haven't brushed up on your research skills but you postin' like you know a little somethin' somethin':
Apple to Charge $69 to Replace a Lost or Broken AirPod

Now what was that again?

If you want to play on the internet with the big boys, you first need to get your facts straight.

No go ahead, complain about the price.
That's what's next right?
