They must be making a killing with these. $150? Jesus. My Brainwavz wired earbuds (with mic and controls) were $10 and have excellent audio quality (I know -- hard to believe for $10, but the Wirecutter agrees). And the "pairing" is easy, I just plug them into the audio jack on my iPhone 6s+. Seriously, how the heck are these BeatsX worth $140 more?

Because that is what people will pay.

Have these and love them. Anyone figure out how to get the free three months of Apple Music with them? I registered but did not get a code.
There is a Apple Music card with the code (to be entered into iTunes) included with the instruction card.

Well, with such kind(BeatsX) of in-ear buds, I get an ear tunnel inflammation after +-3days of constant usage. Thats why I'm staying with the Airpods, they don't go that far to the inner of my ears. Airpods I can wear all day long e.g while working 10hs, but they don't sound that good at louder public places.

I also have the Beats Wireless Studio 2.0 which I wear during days with an acceptable temperature, in public louder places. In summer I can't wear them, they are too hot in summer and makes me sweat. Overall after 3-4h of usage I just get the feeling, like woohhh take them off now and free yourself, like if you're trapped in a closed room and want to get out.

I also have PowerBeats2, they go far to the inner of my ears, but for 1-2h sport every 2nd or 3rd day its okay, else I would get an ear tunnel inflammation, too.

Nice review, AirPod's have a version of inline control by tapping on the earbuds though don't they? Whatever the case I still can't decide which to buy.

Correct. Double tapping activates Siri to control audio and playback features.

Received. Sound quality, to me, isn't that much better than Apple in-the-box earbuds. Sure, there is more noise isolation. Sure, there is more bass. But, not that I wasn't expecting it for earbuds this tiny, they didn't blow me away. However, they give me what I had (apple earbuds), plus more (i.e. wireless freedom), so i'm definitely satisfied....!

Personally I found the sound quality to be much better than the Air Pods. Purchased these as the AirPods don't stay in while running and I missed having the inline controls.

I'll still be using Air Pods out and about (aside from running) as I find them to be easier to carry around and I love being able to wear just one ear while walking the dog and it pausing automatically when I take one out.

I received the iTunes Link on the Beats website after registration - it felt extremely un-Apple, I found it silly that I had to enter so much information when a lot should have been determined from the serial alone. The confirmation page included the iTunes link and I also received an email. Despite the included documents saying that the code was only redeemable for a individual Apple Music plan I found that it simply added the same amount as credit to my iTunes account (I'm signed up to a family plan) which is redeemable on anything you can usually buy on iTunes.

Am trying out the bose soundsport vs. the beats x. Personally, the fit of the bose is more comfortable than the beats x. I never got used to (nor liked) the in ear plugged earbuds. The bose sits in your ear but still gives you a decent seal. I will try the different size buds for the beats to see if that helps.

In terms of sound, I was pleasantly surprised that the beats had a more balance sound (not so bass heavy) compared to other beats headphones that I've tried. I agree that the bose sound is richer/crisper, but I will reserve final judgement until I can test out some more earbud sizes with the beats to see if that makes a difference.

The main thing I don't like about bose, however, is the earbuds are bigger and thus heavier because all the electronics are built into the earbud component. I'll try both out for a week and see how I feel after that.

I'm waiting until I found out if they have that audio problem I have with other bluetooth devices on my iPhone. The volume issue where I can't turn it down quiet enough. It's either muted or really loud at volume setting of 1 bar with zero variation between. Granted that's 3rd party devices that amplify too much but still.

Thanks for the tip - i will be sure to try those on my iphone 7 Plus... oh, wait... crap. No Audio Jack... My Apple Tax got much higher on the 7+ due to the lack of that lovely jack. (but I did get a nice pair of workout wireless headphones for $29 on Amazon).

Because that is what people will pay.

I have a pair of Sennheiser ie80s but the headphones I use most are a $70 pair of BeatsX lookalikes (just ordered a pair of Beats X and AirPods, this morning!) because of he convenience of being wire-free. Can't stand cords anymore ...

wow those wires look so damn annoying. I know it's behind your head but they would just annoy me when i'm sweating or running.

I picked up a pair from the Apple Store White City in London yesterday. Everything worked first time, it fits OK and I thought the sound was pretty good.

However after leaving the BeatsX overnight, I needed to reconnect in the morning and it also seems you need to reconnect after recharging the BeatsX.

Anyone else notice this?

Might be wrong, but Klipsch makes a good pair of active earbud monitors or did about 5 years ago.

Well, these look fine, but I've never been able to wear earphones with these rubber seals, adjustable sizes or not. Apple's standard EarPods have been fine for me since they came out in terms of comfort and in-ear security. What I kinda wish they would've done is made the the AirPods with the connecting cable like the BeatsX have. Ah well.

Can anybody who has these tell me how good the bass is? I love trance music so the bass is important and ruined by a lot of EarPods as most don't have any bass.

I was considering Bose SoundSport, did u like them?
I think I need to try these new BeatsX...

How do you feel about the wires and neck strap for the Beats? If you rather do without that, try the Bose first as their sound is excellent and less wires and no strap.

I'm keen on these for workouts. I'm currently using a BT pair of bose overhead phones and they aren't great for anything active. My one prerequisite for in-ears is Comply foam tip compatibility. Just a great level of comfort and added sound isolation. Only white available for pre-order on a 7 day delivery here in the UK. Tempted to just wait for black and see if anyone has an answer on the use of Comply tips.
I had a quick chat on the Apple Store site but the woman only had info on the selection of tips the X comes with from the factory. Perhaps emailing Comply would be worthwhile too.

Obviously very subjective but I think the bass is very good with the right seal into the ears. It's stronger than any other wired earbuds that I own. At first I thought it was a little strong but have come to really like it. Beats have historically been more boomy sounding.

I really like these, only minor thing for me is a little weakness in the midrange.

This article helps me resist yet another pair of headphones, if the video (especially at 0:55) is any indication of how often the wires touch your face.

Did you throw out the free, included lightning to audio jack adapter that came with your iPhone 7 Plus?

Does anyone know if you can use the $30 Apple Music card if you already have Apple Music? Or is this a promotion only for new users?

Its for everyone. Its a gift card which adds credit to your account to use on anything iTunes - either extend your music subscription or use it for anything else.........

I'm the same. Should be ok as comply pretty much cover all size ranges
