I have a $30 pair of TaoTronics BT headphones with the magnetic clasp that I use daily. I really want to get the BeatsX, but I have a hard time justifying paying that much more for something that probably will work the same. I don't have a 7, so the W1 chip isn't really a factor for me.

Hang on a minute, does the W1 chip only work with the iPhone 7?

Do you think that they are good for running? I saw them on amazon, and I am considering purchasing them because they are affordable and I would like to ’test’ this form factor (neckband) before I buy something more expensive. I saw on pictures that the earbuds are quite big (in comparison to other wired earbuds), would you say that they are too big? :)

<sarcastic>Nice...</sarcastic>
Sure wish I knew these were finally coming out. My old headphones finally died, Wednesday, and purchased new ones a couple days ago, arrived Friday: Sennheiser PXC 550.
Possibly still will pick a set of these as well after a few reviews pop up.

Ordered a black pair yesterday £116 with my Defence Discount Service card, can't wait for Tuesday :)

I'm loving the W1 chip. Got it paired to my iPhone, Mac and iPad. Getting ready to pair it with all my apple TV's. That will just be awesome to be watching TV and not bother the spouse.

I use them for running, weights, bike rides, grocery shopping, pretty much everything. I love them. They are much smaller than some of the other cheap ones on Amazon. I highly recommend them. They sound good. Are comfy. Magnet is strong. Neckband isn't too long.

Now the TV part is something I didn't even consider! Can you pair any ear phones with the  TV?!?

Good question...I don't know since this is the first wireless set I've gotten but the Apple TV's are standard bluetooth so I don't see why any other wireless brand wouldn't work.

They must be making a killing with these. $150? Jesus. My Brainwavz wired earbuds (with mic and controls) were $10 and have excellent audio quality (I know -- hard to believe for $10, but the Wirecutter agrees). And the "pairing" is easy, I just plug them into the audio jack on my iPhone 6s+. Seriously, how the heck are these BeatsX worth $140 more?

$1000 iPhone and $150 earbuds ... you can't be a fanboy if you live on food stamps. No offense intended. (disclaimer: I own 4 macs, 3 ATVs, and iPhones for all under my roof.)

Thanks :) You do mean this model, right? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-...TF8&qid=1486838260&sr=8-3&keywords=taotronics
There is another one which seems to be better for sports but is far less popular.

Hi everybody, what do you think about the charging port being exposed to moisture/ sweat/ rain?

My only issue with running with the Taotronics is the controls toggle is on one side, which makes the headphones hang lopsided around your neck. So basically for me they are heavy on your right side, which annoys me. BeatsX copies the around the neck/collar design, by putting a toggle ( the left toggle is the charger ) on each side.

I bought mine when the Beats X were first delayed & loved them, with the lopsided thing driving me nuts.

Warning: check the Apple site to check if they are sweat resistant. I've had three headsets crap out on me because they weren't. I heard from someone on an Apple discussion group that they weren't.

Wow. This is a pretty poor business decision if they aren't sweat resistant. I'm sure it's not lost on Apple that the AirPods do not fit snugly in everyone's ears, and may not be appropriate for running even win decent fit.

AirPods are apparently pretty resilient however. I don't really understand why someone would wear AirPods for weightlifting but not jogging if they otherwise fit snugly. It's been proven that AirPods which fit well do not fall out even with the wildest gyrations. If they don't fit well enough for running, they're likely going to fall out for standard bench presses, to say nothing of decline presses, or any kind of incline ab excercises.

Also, I admit I work out at a serious gym, with serious body builders, but most everyone there prefer to seal out the bad music played in the gym, as well as distracting conversation, in order to focus on their workout. In general the AirPods are not the best option for this scenario , and the BeatsX seem much better option -- of course not if they don't hold up to basic sweat.

If I have one complaint it is the lopsided nature of them. I sometime like the one ear bud in / one out and they do pull weird. I have never had issue specific to them annoying me when I run tho.
