I have a feeling this thing is going to be pretty easy to get on launch day. :) Probably a pretty poor launch compared to what Apple is used to as everyone waits for the X.

They have been looking dated compared to Samsung phones for a while now.

On a bright note, there won't be any shortage of the 8 Plus in any color.

Kind of wish they would have skipped the 8 and went all in with the X. Waiting till Oct to preorder is a bummer but you know these are going to be a pain to get for awhile after.

Why could they have not also offered a bezel less LCD screen 8 Plus in addition to the X model that is OLED?

The stainless steel bezel will scratch on the X and you can get a better battery and 256GB of storage for less than the base iPhone X. Also Touch ID when it first came out until the 6s was buggy.

I sure hope so, as I will be pre-ordering one on Friday.

I was thinking the same thing. An upgraded chip, sure, but even if they called this the S update that it is, it would still be pretty disappointing.

Why not wait for the X or save money and just get a 7? I'm just curious. This model isn't a new design nor is it cheap so I don't see a big market for it.

I'm hoping the "surgical grade stainless steel" will be more resilient to scratches than the stainless steel on the Apple Watch.

I wish they would have gone with straight black and not space gray

I was dying for that jet black 7 last year but I decided to wait it out to see what they do for the 10th anniversary. I can't justify spending that much on the X. As for the 8? That jet black 7 is starting to look pretty good again...

    Agreed!
Apple has been upselling me for years.
This year they have reinvented and perfected the “down-sell”
Sign me up for an iPhone 8 or 8 plus

^Same. I can't say the X appeals to me much right now. I'd rather still have TouchID and get the 6SSS 8 :D

None of this makes any sense dude lol.

You're saying apple hardware sucks, but you prefer phones from companies that copy apple hardware. But only if they can do a decent os that is as good or better than apples offering.

Ironically, Apple failed to get face-to-face at the moment, during a demonstration by Apple's software boss at the annual presentation of new products. A backup test was required.
And such ugly black spot on the display. Ill wait for 2 years

Why is it ironic? These aren’t production ready devices with software that has yet to be tweaked for the release on October.

I've been a Macrumors member for a long time... I told ppl, go to Macrumors after the Apple event today and read all the posts sh*ting on the event and offerings...

IMHO - Apple will sell boatloads of both, literally. So many commentators here crapped on the 7. Talked for months after the release "I heard the 7 is the slowest selling phone..." And the Apple released the numbers...

    This'll be similar.

Enjoy your Droid phones or, more likely your new 8 or X

iOS 11 is out next week. You would hope the software is done.

Lol, all this talk about dated design and stuff. It's just a black slab in a rounded rectangle shape. No real design there. Nothing amazing about it or Samsung or Xaiomi. The usability of the OS matters far more than that.

Probably a subtitle hint you wont be able to get an edge-to-edge OLED screen in an iPhone for less than $1000 for at least another two years.
