Unfortunately not that many, at least according to the sales figures. Real shame for the dozens of us with tiny hands.

except I don't see why tiny hands are part of this at all. That seems a common fallacy. I don't have small hands, but I like have a light, small, ultraportable device that often hides in my pocket and can easily be held in the hand. I found I got a sore wrist from the heft of the iPhone X's weight. Also proving the fallacy is that many women with small hands love the iPhone 13 pro max. It's about comfort, preference, and the array of devices. I go iPhone 12 mini, new iPad mini, MacBook 12" 2017 for casual couch browsing and texting, M1 MBA for heavy-duty applications (with a curved monitor). Each device has it's own place in my lineup.

I wonder if this year will be iPhone 14, iPhone 14 max, iPhone 14 pro, and iPhone pro max. Given the expected minimal boost for the lesser models, they really are going to be repackaged iPhone 13's. So similar to when Apple kept the 5 around but wrapped it in plastic calling it the 5c, I think they should call these phones the iPhone 13c, iPhone 13c Plus, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 max.

I see why you think that, but no. They’re in no way comparable. Maybe if the pro/consumer dslr/mirrorless market were stagnent, but they are not. Everyone moves forwards. iPhone photography is undoubtedly advanced, but still not in the same league. Nor will be for the foreseeable. It’s a question of sensor size more than anything.
Yep. DSLRs/mirrorless can do things that iPhones cannot and perhaps will never be able to do. iPhones (despite the "Pro" name) are not built for professional use, but in a pinch can be used professionally. I use mirrorless and cinema cameras for live events, and an iPhone 14 Pro will never be able to get close-up footage of actors and singers from 100 feet away, recording non-stop 4k or 8k footage in the hundreds of gigabytes. But as the camera that is always in your pocket to capture the moment you would not get otherwise, they are stellar. And when non-pros ask me what camera they should buy, I tell them just get a recent iPhone.

Seriously though, I'm annoyed Apple aren't continuing the mini. The standard model and Pro are too big for me, but I don't want an SE as I like the full screen/FaceID models. IMO only the mini and SE are genuinely pocketable and unobtrusive, the way a phone should be size-wise.

Just going to have to hope the mini is resurrected in form of the an SE 4 or some other variant in the next couple of years.

These things become more and more serious competition for the SLR and mirror-less market …
For taking snapshots of your friends or selfies, sure, but for serious photography not even close. Do you think you will see photographers photographing a football game on the sidelines ditch the DSL's with long telephoto lenses for camera's on phones?

And interchangeable lenses.

Weight. It’s already starting to get too heavy.
How about no bump and a simpler camera. A lot of people still have dedicated cameras for more serious photography. I would prefer a slim, small lightweight phone. I almost never use the camera on my phone.

I don't think they'll get rid of the Mini. It's not like they're not selling at all. Some OEMs would kill for the Mini's sales number. I think they just won't have a new one. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if they just start calling it "iPhone Mini" and just refresh it every few years, even alongside the SE.

Holding out for the 15. 3nm chip.

technology changes after the 15 should be few and far between. maybe over the air charging but don't expect much.

After all it was Tim Cook who said we will be going thru a technology slowdown.

This should happen after iPhone 15. 2023.

I have a 12 pro max now. If the 14 pro max has better front facing camera, always on display, better battery...I'M IN!

Mehhh, although I'd love the new camera upgrades this year, I think I'll skip it for one more year and wait for the USB-C update. I rather save a bit of money this year and put it towards a new Macbook and iPad pro set up.

If the Pro and Pro Max have feature-parity, I may drop down from the Max to the standard Pro this time round. I really hate they dropped and haven't re-introduced the landscape homescreen etc.
Someone disagrees that I may drop down to the standard Pro, and that I hate they dropped the landscape home screen. Odd, must know me better than I know me

Maybe within the ranks of the P-mode, snapshooters. For serious photographers, these phone camera will never be serious competition to SLR's. They would make wonderful companion cameras, but comical as a replacement. This would be like saying a monocular would be serious competition to telescopes.

Why would a event photographer carry 2 cameras (my standard is 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8) if a smartphone camera can perform the same task? Smartphone cameras is for when I'm not working or taking fun snapshots. If I'm taking time to compose a scene and set up the lighting, I ain't gonna trust that shot to a phone camera.
