Saving my money for an iPhone with 8GB RAM, no notch and no cutouts and USB-C with 4K/6K output.

When it happens, Apple will say that the new feature is exclusive to the new iPhone, 'old' models are incapable of supporting 4K/6K output (like Stage Manager not being supported by the 6GB RAM 2020 iPad Pros).

That’s a bummer. If the article is true and the non “Pro” models don’t include ProMotion and still use the A15 chip, why would anyone would buy the 14 Max over the 13pm?
Believe it or not. Many people would. There’s a big market out there for people who don’t care if the iPhones are carrying an A14 or A15 chip. To them, it makes no difference. They motivates them is the lower cost of the iPhone.

Apple is the number 1 company on the market that can make a buck like no one's business, after pharma companies. Only little innovation at a time. 15 yrs since iphone launched, it is the proverbial increase in processor speed, memory, camera resolution. The phone form factor didn't need a change if not to keep customers guessing. Software definitely has seen some improvements, but hey, have they got the masses hooked into that launch screen or what.

I will be buying because it may be my last chance to buy an iPhone with a port, if they decide to go full wireless next gen. Otherwise I wouldn’t feel so compelled to upgrade. I will hold onto the last wired iPhone for a very long time - forever if possible, perhaps I will never buy an iPhone again.

As long as the camera bumps are bigger, I'm happy.

Bigger camera bump = more sensor area = better camera dynamic range at same focal length. Bring it on!

My only wish is that they make it a true huge camera bump and fill it with huge sensors.

They could stop with the 1mm camera bump increases and go straight to a 10mm camera box increase, and make it a true dSLR/Mirrorless camera competitor.

Prior to the launch of new iPhone models, case makers often create dummy models based on leaked schematics and specifications. We've known about the design of the iPhone 14 lineup for some time now, and this week, we got a set of dummy units to see the design updates for ourselves.

Because there's a lot of money in having a case ready for a new iPhone ahead of launch, dummy models are often quite accurate, so these fake iPhone 14 devices give us a clear picture of what we can expect to see.

Design wise, the iPhone 14 models are going to look a lot like the iPhone 13 models, but with a notable exception - there's not going to be an iPhone 14 mini. Instead, Apple is making two 6.1-inch iPhones (iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro), along with two 6.7-inch iPhones (iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max).

iPhone 13 Pro (blue) vs. iPhone 14 Pro dummy model

For the Pro models, the notch is going to be replaced with hole and pill-shaped cutouts for the camera and the Face ID equipment. The hole and pill design is not much different from a notch, but it will free up some space and make the front cameras less obtrusive. Standard iPhone 14 models will continue to have a notch.

We know there are some minor changes to the sizes of the devices, but when comparing a dummy unit to the iPhone 13 lineup in person, it's difficult to tell. There are tiny changes to the screen sizes of the iPhone 14 Pro models, but in day to day use, you're not going to notice.

Camera bumps are going to be a bit thicker and wider on the Pro models to accommodate the 48-megapixel camera that Apple is adding. Standard iPhone 14 models will not see many design changes.

Weight, material, and color are factors we can't deduce from dummy models, but rumors suggest the iPhone 14 models will have the same build as the prior-generation versions, though we could see a new featured purple color for both the standard and the Pro models.

Apple's iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models will have more differences than ever before, with the Pro models expected to adopt an A16 chip while Apple continues to use an A15 chip in the standard models. The iPhone 14 Pro models will also have more advanced camera systems, ProMotion displays that will likely support an always-on display feature, and more.

What do you think about Apple's plans for the iPhone 14 lineup? Let us know in the comments below.

Still ZERO reason to upgrade from my 12 Pro Max.

Distended camera blister is becoming a parody of itself. It’s like the Spitting Image of phones. Headlining features of new iPhones seem to be bigger, thicker, heavier and uglier. Come back Jonny Ive 🙏

I think I'll wait for the 15. The camera array and bump aren't big enough, a heavier phone would also be nice.
Exactly what I’m doing. They are over priced and my 12 Pro Max is still better than 95% of android phones on the market. The 13 and 14 make me yawn.

There is only so much you can do to a phone. What else can you think?
I can think of like 100 android phones that do a multitude of things better than any iPhone out right now. Android devices on the high end are innovating like wildfire. And iPhones kinda….. yawn. Hey guys we made the ugly notch you hate smaller and made the phone thicker, heavier and and more expensive than ever!!!

Design wise, as that's the topic quoted.

I am already mentally preparing myself for the Pro Max to start at 1,499 Euro now, which means I will hold onto my 12 Pro Max another year. iOS doesn’t offer anything new anyway and it just makes less and less sense to update so frequently. You just end up using the same apps, the exact same way as before anyway.

I am so much wiser with age now 😇
Yeah, my XS Max is still going strong. The only thing I don’t have is precision finding for air tags, everything else would be identical on anything newer than what I already have.

Give me USB C and Touch ID, and suddenly they’d have my attention and get me to upgrade, and we know that neither of those upgrades are coming any time soon. As it is, there’s literally no point in spending the money needed for a newer model.

Will likely be jumping from ATT to TMO for a coprorate discount that's too good to pass up. What I can't decide is, do we wait until september for these phones (they'd probably be free with trade as they've done for years) and risk losing the $200 per line pre-paid mastercard promo they're running? Or do we grab a bunch of free 13's and not end up upgrading until next year? o_O

Really wanted something with USB C, but that looks like will not be until at least another 15 months. Aside from the notch being a bit smaller and the always on display (rumor?), would I miss anything? I assume slightly better processor.
That’s a tough one. Honestly can we really count on anything anymore? There could easily be no good deal in September… but history does show trade in deals for switching.

😕 I’d say wait if you can, but if it’s a SCREAMING deal now, then get it and enjoy a top of the line phone and try to ignore the FOMO in September 😝

The photographs that the iPhone 13 is capable of are beautiful. I hope they keep the same processing and amplify it to make them standout even more.
The 13’s are great (I have the mini), it’s the pros that have this oil painting weirdness when you zoom in.

I haven't had any battery issues with my mini. It easily lasts me an entire day, but I'm not a "power user", mostly email, web surfing and messaging. I do record a lot of 4k video and the battery holds up really well for that.
Do you have Apple Watch by chance? I’m getting disappointing battery on latest iOS for the last two months, like 4-5 SOT… and was like it 6 solid earlier (got phone in October). iPhone 13 mini.

My wife just got SE and HOLY COW it’s blowing my mini out of the water ☹️

My wife has a 12 mini. IDk what constitutes power user, but she manages retail and uses it for messages, price checks, etc. By the end of the day she's in single digits. I actually really like the form factor, but that he halted my eagerness to get one. Maybe the 13 is better?
13 mini is better for sure based on reports. Maybe an hour SOT better?

My November 2020 12 mini's battery life has just taken a dive. 5G (sub-6GHz) has just been enabled for many more people (on non-premium plans) here in Australia.

I was planning to change to the 13 mini soon, but now wondering whether to go to the new 14 (non-Pro non-Max) instead.

Please tell me the new iPhone will have USB-C instead of Lightning. I have an iPhone XS, but I'll only consider an upgrade if USB-C becomes the standard.

I think everyone of us is hoping this will finally be the year, they already switched for iPad Pro’s time for the change already!
