Is there going to be a compelling reason for anyone to buy the base Phone 14 over say a cheaper iPhone 13?

Well, Apple always discontinues the last year model when the new is announced, so there won't be many cheap 13's floating around tbh.

Just like how Apple or many other retailers doesn't sell iPhone 12's right now. ATT has some but its slim pickings & some even refurbs.

Do you think it will feel ‘superior’ now that it’s on its last year of iOS?

We could revisit your comment about a year from now.

Point is, you’ll likely be upgraded to a phone that has a ‘notch’ when your SE stutters and has performance issues.
Forced compliance. Nah … I'm still rocking a 2016 MacBook Pro. I feel no need to buy something I don't like.

I hope they get rid of the over processed awful images the 13 produces
This is all I really want, would make me upgrade ASAP. but not sure about if this would fix it as it happened on my 12 Pro Max as well :( Wait and see I guess?

Max w/ out Pro is interesting as I like the bigger phone (don't see how you can't hold it in one hand) but I do like the better camera (if issue is fixed). I do want a purple phone though

I'll wait for the 2023 model iPhones. They may go to a new form factor with no more camera bumps and slightly thicker case to allow the use of vapor chamber cooling to really keep the SoC quite cool. Not to mention they finally get rid of the Lightning port in favor of USB Type C ports with Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.2 Gen 2 support.

RIP mini, which was a return to Steve Jobs’ vision of a mobile device that was easily held in one hand. My mini will be the last iPhone I buy for a long time (unless Apple returns to a small form factor).

I have a 12 pro. Had there been a mini pro hands down would have bought that. I'm still thinking about trying to buy a used or refurbed mini at some point. Battery life was my main concern for not buying it.

‘Forced compliance’? Since when did Apple adopt military standards. :D

Come on man. You’ve got options. Let’s not pretend that a tech company has power over your choices.

Will likely be jumping from ATT to TMO for a coprorate discount that's too good to pass up. What I can't decide is, do we wait until september for these phones (they'd probably be free with trade as they've done for years) and risk losing the $200 per line pre-paid mastercard promo they're running? Or do we grab a bunch of free 13's and not end up upgrading until next year? o_O

Really wanted something with USB C, but that looks like will not be until at least another 15 months. Aside from the notch being a bit smaller and the always on display (rumor?), would I miss anything? I assume slightly better processor.

I haven't had any battery issues with my mini. It easily lasts me an entire day, but I'm not a "power user", mostly email, web surfing and messaging. I do record a lot of 4k video and the battery holds up really well for that.

My wife has a 12 mini. IDk what constitutes power user, but she manages retail and uses it for messages, price checks, etc. By the end of the day she's in single digits. I actually really like the form factor, but that he halted my eagerness to get one. Maybe the 13 is better?

Yawn my iPhone 12 Pro Max notch still looks better than the pill, and complements my MacBook Pro notch.

Wake me up in 2024 for the release of the iPhone 16 pro max & than in 2026 for the release of the Iphone 18 pro max (the first full screen iphone).

Is it safe to assume that the 14 Max will likely take the place of the $1099 iPhone, while the 14 Pro Max will either be $1199/$1299?
