The iPhone X is a mid range phone for $1000, that’s the difference

Less memory, less storage, smaller lower res screen, no S pen, no expandable storage, no headphone jack, bigger battery.....etc

A year-old phone that is faster, has bigger (and faster!) storage, has much better haptics, has 3D touch, has more secure biometrics, will get software updates for much longer (and Note 9 doesn't even come with the latest version of Android) and is comparable in terms of camera quality - and, again, it is a year-old phone! In what universe is this mid range, pray tell.

Not saying any of that necessarily makes for a better phone, but at least with the Note 9, you know you are, at least on the hardware front getting plenty for your money.

At least with iPhone you know you'll get software support for 4-5 years and it won't slow down to a crawl after a year. I do believe the iPhone X is, overall, a better value than the Note even today, and just wait a month for the new iPhones to arrive and compare then.

The note has a lot of technology and top notch specs and lots of features. However I’d rather spend my £1,000 on an iPhone because of the long term software support and after sales care from Apple.

I still think the note is a good phone though and is pretty flawless and I readily admit that it has more features than my iPhone X. I just have other reasons for choosing the iPhone X and later on the X plus over it.

I and that's why you hear the reviewers complaining about the distortion right?
And Raymond from displaymate found the distortion so bad that he made then the best phone displays at the time of release, successively....

Reviewers are all about attention. And to say something negative about new Apple product does guarantee a lot of attention. Who gives a flying monkey. iPhone X have proven to be a solid product (wish I would say same thing for S9) and people who bought it in general are happy with it. Notch, antenna bands, camera bump and all that stuff are better if they did not exist but they still don't make the product any less great then it is.
People who moan about the notch in general are the ones who don't own one. It is always the case.
Galaxy phones have amazing displays. I can not deny that. Curved are pure gimmick. iPhone X have a great display also but with the colours tuned down I like Galaxys better. But Galaxy phones suck on other things (OS + updates) and from my experience they tend to get slow after few months.

controlling the watch without having to touch the screen...like the circular motion of the iPod..because the screen is too small. Makes sense, I never thought of that..

Those are some ugly looking devices. Almost makes you wish Samsung would go back to copying Apple's designs.

Wife has Note 8 and gear S3. Both are nice and she uses her stylus at her work all the time for notes and other projects. That being said the only thing that made me a little jealous was the DEX. Would love it if same could be done with the iPhone. Have an iMac on its last legs and would be happy to be able to connect my 8 Plus to a monitor and with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I could do what I need to do.

I've had both Samsung and Apple phones, I always end up coming back to Apple. I don't have to play the "Oh, I hope my year old device gets the latest OS!!" game.

If I have a problem with my phone I don't have to ship it off, I just take it to the Apple store at the mall. Have only needed to one time because of a dead pixel. Fixed the same day. Even Apple with their fiasco Battery-gate, if you need the battery replaced, take it to the mall. Samsung... ship it off.

Its all give and take. Samsung has things and features I like, but in reality I hardly or never used. Apple does crap that annoys me to no end, but in the end, they are more stable and don't abandon their users in regards to updates because they are too distracted with their latest and greatest shiny object to be bothered.

Yeahhhhhhhhh, nah.

Nah, yeahhhhh. Still garbage though.

Oh, it's garbage now? Ok, cool...

Personally, I think the notch is a hideous stopgap, but hey, if you love it, sweet as...

I think there'll be many iphone users who cant wait for the notch to be superfluous, and have an actual edge to edge screen.

o_O Yeah the iphone X and 8 Plus are the best looking phones currently.

They are a notch ahead...

It's sad how desperate Samsung is to emulate Apple. Google is the same way.
I don’t think it’s sad. They just want to make money and Apple are the ones making the most money.

You do realise that FaceID also uses infrared so has exactly the same risk? Especially as its focuses on the eyes to ensure they are open.
Not really the same, FaceID doesn't need to concentrate the IR on the eyes as it doesn't need to see the small details of it.

I know I'll get a lot of negativity for saying this, but even with all these features, I can't shake the feeling that Samsung is designing each of the many features in their phones while obsessing over Apple in some way.
You mean just like Apple finally caved and designed giant phones JUST LIKE SAMSUNG HAD and was selling like hotcakes? It works both ways. It's called competition. ;)

At least Note 9 has no notch. That is infinite better than ugly notch.

That's a personal preference, but I personally disagree. I find the Note 9 design is ugly and dated.

I suppose, but I don't think trying to copy Apple's look and feel is the way to go. On one hand, they mock Apple, then they try to be like Apple? Conflicting for their base I am sure. In the end, you are correct though - you might as well emulate the company dominating the industry.

I'm a little late to the party, but I hate everything Samsung Mobile (love their TVs, Monitors, Home stuff and even their laptops). I honestly wish they'd just parish as an Android Developer and just pushed Tizen, they're time is done. Then Google can just focus on Android or ditch it for Fuscia or whatever.

I don't care if my opinion is less than popular, but I seriously just been burned way too many times by Samsung. I will stick with the Pixel and iPhone combo from now on.
