Which part? You don't think Samsung is looking to mimic Apple's ecosystem? You don't think Huawei will dominate the East? You don't think I really mean it that I wouldn't mind if the notch went away? You think sales would drastically improve with a notch?

Samsung has had a consumer sector for a very long time. Their consumer bread and butter is currently mobile. With that being said even if it seems Samsung is currently just mimicking, there will be future product owners in future generations to come that will genuinely innovate.

Yea for sure, I am not doubting that they will continue to innovate or have a piece of mobile in the future, but I do see Huawei eating into their business significantly. Samsung's phone costs are getting to Apple levels, but without the sales. Personally I think they should be positioning them selves in the mid-range to better compete with Huawei (and eat into Apple sales as well), instead of focusing on Apple so much.

Luckily you don't work at Apple, if you did, Apple would not be where it is today. Maybe you should get in touch with Apple board to replace Tim Cook, I am sure you can convince them that you would be a better CEO.

Those are good examples but....FaceID...put my sunglasses on and baseball cap and go outside...FID fails eveytime.
Just sunglasses on it works half the time. Gotta hold it at just right angle for it to work...then you have to swipe up to get to your home screen...that's an extra step you don't have to do with TouchID or any Finger Print Scanner (FPS)

so benchmarks equals great user experience? What do those numbers equate to in real life performance? Maybe half a second? Will anyone notice that when using any phone? IMHO benchmarks are very misleading. They do not tell the whole story of user experience which is way more important they any benchmark.

Wrong. Go to any three letter government intelligence agency or high security enterprise and you'll likely see iris scanning but not hand-me-down Microsoft Kinect which is what Face ID is.

The problem with Face ID is it doesn't have the precision to differentiate people.

Face ID is just one method of authentication. It has its pros and cons. Note 9 offers three authentication methods. It does not need more than that.

Note 9 does not offer a lot of new stuff indeed. It does offer 8GB RAM, 1TB storage (combined), BT enabled S-Pen, variable aperture cameras and a direct way of connecting to a monitor (desktop mode). This is something unique that no other phone offers (and in many regards exceeds iPhone functionality/specs by a huge margin).

The largest bezel on the iPhone X is smaller than the largest bezel on any other phone out there. This holds true even almost a year later.

No, but performance is performance. It's funny how it's different now considering benchmarks, DxO, whatever was always the standard to measure such things (considering everything else is subjective). When it's not in one phone's favor, now those results don't matter. To answer your question, no it doesn't equal a great user experience, but the iPhone is not lacking in that either. It's just surprising to me that a chip/RAM combo that has all that power cannot outperform a year old phone.

Of course they do, it is cheaper and just as reliable, as long as you make sure no one is bringing a detailed print of someone's eyes. We'll see what they start using as the tech comes down in price. Also, 3D mapping has exactly nothing to do with Microsoft Kinect.

Either way, still more secure than Samsung. Just deal with it. Or don't, I don't really care.

Lol, of course it can, she clearly says it didn't unlock for her for day, what happened there is that the phone adapted to the face, because it was being constantly exposed to it and then unlocked manually. No way this would happen with a stranger.

No, but honestly, you really think a company like Apple, that can sell the most expensive, premium stuff at volume didn't explore every option, and that they couldn't just use an Iris scanner if it was really better? Or you think a good selfie camera and an IR led is beyond their capabilities?

Except in everyday tasks the S9 is faster and has WAY better ram management then the X. Benchmarks are not everything. Everyone knows Apple's CPU is way faster then the ones used by Android you don't need to keep harping on about it. If anything it just shows what a great job Samsung have done with a under performing chip as it beats the X in speed test videos.

Put then DxO labs is not the same as the benchmarks you listed. The camera review and rating is not the same as the benchmarks.
I mean have you ever heard people discussing how one phone is 1 or 2 seconds faster than another when playing a game or opening apps? No...they go by ease of use and functionality and overall user experience.
IMHO benchmarks are useless yardsticks....NO MATTER WHAT PHONE COMES OUT AHEAD

Still spreading FUD I see. How many times do you have to be told iris scanning is by FAR the most secure biometric method. Face Id is about convenience, its alot quicker then iris scanning and thats why Apple went down that path.

thing is...every single keynote from Apple 100% focuses on the specs so they clearly matter [to Apple, and lets face it when you pump out the identical form factor for 4 years on the bounce, its all they can talk about] . 100% the first thing they say is that this chip is 50% faster than the last one or the screen is 20% brighter than that one or, this GPU is optimised blah blah....key thing is, with the Samsung there is no conjecture or opinion, you get far more "kit" for your money. Granted you might value the "experience" more than the hardware or the combination of the pair and are prepared to pay for it....but lets face it you really do have to pay for the experience witn Apple because aside from the CPU, everything else is very mid-teir....or absent altogether.

....what at writing on the screen? or giving you a desktop experience or performing real multi-tasking? Last time I looked iPhones weren't very fast at any of those things!

....hmm I dont think anyone can defend phones "slowing down to a crawl" when Apple specifically enabled this unannouced feature on the world 18 months ago....

Synthetic benchmarks don't equate to real world performance. The fastest Apple SoC in iPad Pro still lags, freezes and randomly reboots.

Does the phone take a 3D picture of the iris? No. A simple picture can fool it. Your math is way off too. No biometrics are totally safe.

Actually it was to prevent the aging battery(which all phone batteries age) from shutdowns where the battery couldn’t provide the power. I’d rather have that then a laggy overpriced Samsung S9 with a Bluetooth stylus.

Samsung make great phones but performance wise won’t last as long as you want

If you upgrade each year though guess that doesn’t matter too much

But in the same video he goes on to say the S9 has been rock solid with no lag what so ever. So the software optimizations Samsung has been doing is working.

S9 came out in March though so would expect it to be flawless at this point
 
It's hilarious to hear the Apple loyalist talk of huge bezels and dated designs. Never have you heard them complain about such things before the X. It's like a light switch, one second they're completely loving their iPhones, and shouting from the mountain tops about premium industrial design. Not one mention of them having the biggest bezels in the industry. Not even a mention of the design being recycled for years. And then just like that, they absolutely hate even a small chin on a phone. They speak as if they've been accustomed to having the smallest bezels in the industry for years. And now the new mantra is, "notch? I don't even notice it." Lol, delusional indeed.

My husband’s note 8 seems alright still. Granted I’ve not used it for more than a 5 minute stretch but I’ve used it a few times in the past couple of weeks and it seemed alright. Not laggy. Fairly fast.

Ok so for $999 for base model. You get the same exact thing as a galaxy S9 with more ram maybe? And more storage??? Oh yeah, you get a S Pen that has Bluetooth. Lol if that’s cutting edge technology then boy am I missing out!!!!
