"Our iPhone 11 Pro Max is in midnight green, the popular new color that sold out within just a few minutes after preorders went live."

Might wanna rethink that quote. I ordered my 11 Pro Max in Midnight Green on the 16th at 4ish PM ET and received it without issue at all on launch day.

Not impressed with the new iPhone 11 lineup. That device looks really awful to use and lack of any new innovation.

Well, if I want to take a picture, I use a real camera. As far as the weight goes, this phone weighs more than the iPhone X, which already feels like I have a brick in my pocket. For me, the iPhone 6 was a good size and weight. This new phone is approaching the weight of one of my real cameras.
Iphone 11 is same size and weight as 6s plus.

not sure how weak people’s wrists are that they find this weight burdensome.

I don't know what "real cameras" you use, but my Nikon D7200 weighs 23.9 oz. without a lens. The iPhone 11 Pro Max weighs 7.97 oz. And, while my iPhone X can't do everything my DSLR does, it has the advantage of virtually always being at hand, including some places where larger cameras aren't. I've taken many shots that I otherwise would have missed that way, and I've seen many photos shot on mobile devices that rival anything a "real camera" could do. Being in the right place at the right time, composition, lighting, and other factors count more than tech specs.

I keep my stuff forever, so just upgraded from a 6 to an 11 Pro Max (Previously had a 1, and a 4). Massive improvement, needless to say. Should keep well enough for the next 5 years or so.

The argument that something is worth it because it will cost less than a latte might be useful when justifying a new toy but it‘s meaningless. I need a new reading/tv chair but it will cost $1,500. The Ekorness chair I’m in this moment is from my first apartment (1988!), looks like hell, but still comfy as hell. 30 years at 2 hours a day is $0.068/hour. 30 years is unreasonable to plan on so let’s assume 10 - that’s $0.205 or 3 bucks a week! I wonder if next year’s model will have higher quality padding? Is it worth going up 20%?

Tech stats mean nothing in a phone. Chip name, RAM, and aperture mean nothing. Battery life and storage are useful but can be understood by great uncle Wesley. ( this phone lasts 2 hours longer and has room for twice as many pictures as your old one.)

What means something is do you need it (rare), will it bring you joy, and can you afford it. Analysis beyond that is merely numerical masturbation in the interest of justification.

Anybody upgrade from a 7Plus? Been considering it but the 7Plus seems to still work ok and has 2-cameras, which is why I got it in the first place.
Yes, I did. I first upgraded the 7 Plus to iOS 13. Then I did an iTunes backup of this phone. Then I used iPhone Migration and everything went very well. My impression is that the 11 Pro Max has much better photo taking capabilities -- my photos seem better than the ones from my older phone. However, the new phone gets very hot in use. The bottom panel feels unpleasantly hot to the touch. This is without any kind of protective case on the new phone, and yes, I have one of those on order.

I am discovering that my "11 Pro Max" phone gets quite hot in use. I noticed it yesterday after I parked my bicycle following a ride and took the phone from a pannier pocket. I thought it must be hot from sunshine. It was a warmish but not hot ride. So maybe that heated the phone. This morning, however, the phone gets really hot on the bottom casing while I'm using it from my living room. That much heat generated for reading emails and posting comments to Strava is odd. Makes me worry that the battery is not quite right.

This might be the year to upgrade my SE and my wife's 7 to a pair of 11's. I like the specs, and it might be time to make the leap, unless there is an SE2 waiting in the wings.

I'll be upgrading from the iPhone 8 to the 11, happy with the upgrade. Also nice video review, it was helpful. Thanks

The definition of "incremental" like "innovation" is personal and moving. The iphone 11 is an "incremental" upgrade from say the iphone 6/6s/7 but in this case the increment is a chasm the size of the Grand Canyon. ;)
Ha you have an egg on your face at this point because Apple replaced 3DT with long press as I said they would years ago so the iPhone 6s/7 are actually an upgrade in some ways from the 11 series right?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Long press, is a poor man's substitute for 3DT. Not as polished, not as on the mark and can't do everything 3DT can do as fast as 3DT can do some of those things. But I give Apple props for their implementation.

If you believe the 6s is an upgrade from the 11, I'd like to see you sporting it.

I believe it must be a pathological reason for some people to be over concerned with what other consumers choose to spend their own money on . I’ve never seen this with other consumables , at the end of the day it’s a phone😩

Then you haven't spent much time on automotive forums, or watch forums, and probably other forums that deal with consumables. Every forum has folks that will make those comments. EVERY.ONE!

I went from an iPhone 8 to the iPhone 11. Huge differences with face ID and performance. I was playing with the night mode last night and was extremely impressed. It's simply a longer shutter time, just like a pro would use on a DSLR camera. The huge difference is you don't need a tripod and you don't have to be perfectly still. It uses some sort of image stabilization to prevent a blurry picture, which would be expected on a DSLR camera without a tripod and remote.

Just for the wide angle and night mode, I'm glad I made the jump. Arcade is great too, as soon as it comes out on iPad and Apple TV, it will be a huge hit with the kids.
