Just wait for the iPhone XI Plus... It will only be 1.4" less in screen size.
It’s been 3½ years and counting since we had a new Mac Mini. It’s killing me.For cost, I can see folks biting on the 6th gen, but I have a feeling the new 10.5" iPP will smoke this thing in features and speed.
I bet either the Mini will be discontinued, or it'll only be updated every 2-3 years a la the Mac mini.
Because of the aspect ratio, a 7.9” mini has almost twice the screen area as would a 6.5” X Plus. Also, it would be $600-700 cheaper. A X Plus really isn’t a substitute for a mini.Just wait for the iPhone XI Plus... It will only be 1.4" less in screen size.

Best tablet you can buy for $329 if nothing more than its build quality, A10, and iOS.A $30 discount for students. Incredibly old technology.
No, For most general UI interactions the finger is much better than a pencil in iOS. That isn’t to say the pencil is no good for general UI, it just isn’t as intuitive or as capable as your fingers for moving around the UI. The pencil comes into its own when taking notes or drawing where more precision is required or you don’t want to use the keyboard or SIRI to input text. The pencil is very capable for its purposes, but multi touch gestures with your fingers is what iOS is designed for from the ground up.Thanks, so it must be better using the pencil then.
I have never used the pencil but i can imagine it being easier.
Is there anything you cant do with the pencil that you can do with your finger, i would imagine a single swipe would be ok, but not able to do a double swipe.
Thanks for the info, that is very helpful. No, For most general UI interactions the finger is much better than a pencil in iOS. This is pretty much the reverse experience compared with using a Surface Pro and a Microsoft pen where the pen is surprisingly often better at most UI interactions, particularly within applications, than your finger. I guess this is probably because at heart windows 10 started off with a mouse as the main interaction instrument, despite the rhetoric.
Bottom is no need for a pencil to effectively use an iPad, it is a nice extra to have and depending on what you use an iPad for, varies in relevance. You might buy one and hardly ever use it. This is not the case with a surface pro.
Disclosure: I use an iPad Pro with a pencil and no external keyboard. I don’t use a surface pro anymore.
The best tablet is not yet out.Best tablet you can buy for $329 if nothing more than its build quality, A10, and iOS.
Which means this is the best tablet out for the money? Technology is always the “next” thing. Silly comment. The best tablet is not yet out.

Sad really. There was a time when Apple took the education market seriously.
Cheaper for schools to replace the glass in a non laminated screen.Laminate the dang screen already. It ain't much of a gap but what a difference it makes when it feels like the screen is right there under your finger tip.
Hold out for the iPad Pro being announced in the next 2.5 months - tops

Thank you for this comment. I actually bought the new ipad today, read your comment and then sent to micro center and got the pro. I was leaning toward the Ipad pro when I was in the apple store but in a brief hands on I could only see a difference in the screen. However double the storage and ram in addition to the screen and speakers for an extra $200 was a no brainer for me even if they release a new Ipad Pro in June. Can't recommend it with only 2GB DRAM when it would probably cost Apple $5 more to increase to 4GB. The $500 iPad Pro 10.5 at Micro Center makes more sense with double the DRAM (4GB vs 2GB), double the storage (64GB vs 32GB) and less likely to be obsolete anytime soon.

Serious answer...because they understand their pricing, products and market better than you.Since Apple is releasing the edge to edge Pro Models, why didn't Apple just lower the cost of the iPad Pro's to $399 respectively for the 10.5 and $499 for 12.9. That made more sense then to add this to their lineup.
They will most likely discontinue the iPad Pro 2017 for the new lineup.
Yeah, no strategy at the biggest company in the world coming off the best quarter in corporate history.Apple is just waffling in the wind at this point.
Apple: "Hey guys! Here's another round of eggs! Instead scrambled we've made them sunny side up! We've even included a fork to go with it."
I totally agree. But the discount for students is minimal. Even less funny. You get a iPad 2018 for 4 Apple pencil prices. That's funny.Which means this is the best tablet out for the money? Technology is always the “next” thing. Silly comment.
