It's also HUGE if you wanted to draw on an iPad and not pay $800 plus for one.

Well...Depends on what you get. 128GB LTE version plus Apple Pencil, you are getting close to 700 dollar. If you include sales tax it getting close to 800 mark.

Now, In Canada. 128GB LTE cost 700 plus 120 dollars Apple Pencil is 820 dollars plus 13% tax (930 dollars after tax)

How much faster is it then an iPad 3 ???

;)
I upgraded from a barely usable iPad 3 to a 10.5 inch Pro and the difference was light night and day. Every action is instant. No lagging, no waiting or unregistered taps.

The iPad 3 was actually underpowered from day one as the demanding retina screen left little performance reserves for future iOS updates.

This is the same processor that's in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and it's going to be viable for apps and games for several years to come.

Liar liar pants on fire! My iPhone 7 is already slow on iOS 11. How much does Apple pay you to write positive reviews?

Yupp. That's why the Mini won't dissappear any time soon. Apple are just doing the bare minimum they can get away with to be price competitive but protect margins. There is no point in adding the latest component when the competition is £50-150 amazon or supermarket tablets.

The Pixel 2 only has one lens but beats most phones with 2 or 3.
Do you see more flagships with 1 lens or 2 lenses? I'm fully aware of the Pixel having 1 lens, but that's not the norm. There are still benefits to having 2 lenses, despite the good performance from Pixel.

Why? What special about student that a corporation should not make a profits? Apple is not running charity, if you think it is too expensive, then don't buy.
I can't stop you if you want to throw your money in the trash.

This iPad sums up Tim Cook's leadership/approach & is everything wrong with Apple today.

Yes 2 lenses are great as you can have a wide and telephoto one. We will see phones with two lenses but similarly some will only have one as the Pixel 2 demonstrate that two-three lenses aren't guaranteed to be superior than one.

I can see that. But this is tailored towards schools and just around the corner are new iPad Pros. I don't use iPhones but I'm still impressed with the iPhone X, bought one for my father. All the advanced tech and high design go into the top models. If the iPad Pro mimics the X in every way, even with a notch (for Face ID), then I think Tim is doing alright.

And, fundamentally, what is insufficient about the iPad mini 4 that calls for a better processor and screen tech? Especially when we use it for reading?

Display contrast in low light conditions (like reading with a bedroom light on) is abysmal, which makes reading uncomfortable and causes eyestrain. Seriously, compare the Mini 4 to an OLED tablet for reading at night - the OLED destroys it. Even my 2013 Nexus 7 has better low light display performance.

Additionally, the Mini 4 display has poor viewing angles vertically. At anything less than a just right straight on view there is a loss of contrast.

Compared to my iPhone 6 Plus, the display on my Mini 4 falls way short. It has me thinking of ditching Apple devices but I like the integration between Macs and iDevices so I put up with it for now.

LMAO, what an ignorant comment. I've you would know anything than you would know that RAM prices have tripled in the last year. So no 2GB of extra RAM is not 5 dollars more, it's about 20 dollars more even for Apple, which is a huge amount of profit.

And second 2GB of RAM on IOS is about 4GB on android and I don't here anyone complaining about 4GB on android.

I wish they would make it a configuration option like Macs. I would gladly pay $20-$30 more, maybe even $50, for an iPad 2018 with 4 GB of RAM. I refuse to buy any iOS device with only 2 GB of RAM in 2018, especially an iPad, which one would expect to last much longer than something like an iPhone. This thing is going to choke on iOS 13 next year.

Hell no, making an iPad an config thing would raise the prices by a lot more than "20-30 or maybe even 50 dollars". And for Apple it isn't as easy as making an iPad 20 dollars more expensive to put in the extra RAM, it's not that easy.

Plenty of Android manufacturers have managed to do it, even for budget phones. I think Apple could. It's no different than offering different storage capacities really. Would it make things a bit more complicated for them and increase the prices a small amount? Sure, but it's not nearly as big of a deal as you're making it out to be, in my opinion. It could even be tied to the storage amount... base storage (32 GB) gets 2 GB of RAM, and higher storage options (128 GB) get 4 GB of RAM. That's how most Android manufacturers do it, and that way it doesn't increase the number of SKUs at all.

Yeah, you'd have to come up with some ridiculous and subjective measure for Cook's leadership, because the numbers and reality certainly wouldn't tell you he's doing a bad job. Quite the opposite.

Your opinions and speculations simply don’t line up with reality. People love the products at record levels, yet you’re pounding the table that Apple has lost something. Why don’t the numbers show that?

If people like the products, there is nothing “wrong” with the users. They like the products, particularly more than the alternative. Period.

I picked up the IPP 10.5 64GB for $499 at Microcenter today. In the end that was only $70 more than the 2018 iPad with 128GB that I would have gotten otherwise, as 32GB is just too small. I used the iPad Air since 2013. I plan to get the ASK for the trade in value of the Air and then use the IPP as a light travel "laptop" with Office installed when I don't want to carry my 15" MBP. With 4 GB RAM I suppose the IPP will still be usable for my needs 4 years down the road before it needs updating.

Can't recommend it with only 2GB DRAM when it would probably cost Apple $5 more to increase to 4GB. The $500 iPad Pro 10.5 at Micro Center makes more sense with double the DRAM (4GB vs 2GB), double the storage (64GB vs 32GB) and less likely to be obsolete anytime soon.

Or, they could always do what Steve Jobs did and go back to releasing one premium iPad a year. But then, that would make too much sense.

Welcome to business. If consumers demand it, we will make it. Nothing wrong with consumers validating your strategy.

A $30 discount for students. Incredibly old technology.

While I agree with other for more ram to future proof intensive use of multiple apps ... it’s not as if we’re to expect students playing Fortnite on these devices. So think of the 2Gb RAM as a limitation to heavy immersive and highly addictive attitude negative adjusting gaming. Muhaahahaha

Nothing to be sad about, the Air 2 is an inferior device. I just sold my Air 2. The new iPad 6 is definitely faster and shows WAY less fingerprints. The anti-glare display is the worst for fingerprints and didn’t really do much for glare.

I did notice the gap in the display immediately due to not being laminated, but the quality of the screen is on par with the Air 2. Definite plus for the addition of the pencil.

Well worth the upgrade. Would do it again if I had to.
[doublepost=1522801199][/doublepost]I bought one this weekend. For everything I use it for it works perfectly. I do miss the the four speakers of the pro. But for the price I am not worried about it at all.

What's hilarious is that each & every comment you've made just keeps further proving my point.

Your point is only based on an incorrect premise and nothing but conjecture.

My point is that Apple has never been more successful and great products means more success. Apple is WINNING and killing it.
